Item A comparative study on parents’ satisfaction with students progress in special and inclusive schools(UMT.Lahore, 2018) SAIRA RIAZThe purpose of the research was to Compare Parents’ Satisfaction with Students Progress in Special and Inclusive Schools. The study followed survey research design. A questionnaire was developed for parents. The questionnaire was pilot tested on 30 parents of children with disabilities. The instrument was validated from experts of the field. Its reliability was found as .940. These parents were selected through convenient sampling. Total 364 parents were approached to collect data, 213 and 151 from inclusive school and special school respectively. Both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques were applied to analyse the collected data.The study concluded that parents were more satisfied with students’ Academic, Communication, Social Emotional, Teaching Learning process, Related services, and life skills and behaviors progress in Inclusive schools.Item A study of contribution of pak-turk international school system for promotion of bilateral relationship between turkey and pakistan(UMT.Lahore, 2018) ADEEL AYAZImplementation of a global education is in much demand. Nations across the world are actively searching for means and ways to raise human capital, which is capable of speaking more than one language and is able to adopt itself in different cultures and communities. International schools are one way to achieve this goal of preparing global citizens. PakTurk International Schools are one of such chain of schools in Pakistan with aim of promoting trade and cultural relationships between Pakistan and Turkey. PakTurk International Schools, the education system are subject of this descriptive qualitative case study, in which the role of Pak-Turk has been explored to in the context of strengthening the bilateral relation of Pakistan and Turkey. In this regard, three campuses out of 25 were selected by using purposive sampling as 2 in Lahore and one in Islamabad for this exploratory case study. Observations, survey and in-depth interviews were used as tools for data collection. Parents, Teachers and administrative staff of selected schools participated in data collection through 3 different open-ended surveys while in-depth interviews were conducted with principals of the schools as well as the education directors of Pak-Turk schools for Lahore, Islamabad and overall Pakistan. Content analysis was performed on survey results, while interpretive analysis was performed on interviews. Themes were allowed to emerge providing deeper insight; furthermore, discussion on themes led to concrete findings and conclusion of the results. The study concluded that Pak Turk Educational system is playing a positive role in the bilateral relationship of Pakistan and Turkey. This research adopted quantitative approach to conduct the study and accordingly it falls in positivism paradigm philosophically. The study is descriptive in its specific nature. The study adopted a survey approach. Two instruments MLQ scale and T-scale were used. MLQ scale was adapted and T-scale was developed. The target population of this study was all private high school teachers in the district of Lahore, province Punjab, Pakistan. Data were collected from 400 secondary school teachers from 20 private secondary schools of Lahore city by using convenient sampling technique. Data analysis has been done by using mean, standard deviation, Pearson Product correlation and Multiple Regression analysis. The findings suggests that leadership behaviors of school principals were more transformational than transactional and laissez-fair in the perceptions of teachers. There is a strong significant correlation between leadership behaviors and teachers’ trust. This study will develop the leadership behaviors of school principals to increase trust level with teachers.Item A study of relationship between leadership styles of secondary school principals and school climate in lahore(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Shazia AkbarPurpose of this study was to examine the relationship between leadership styles of secondary school principals and school climate. Research was descriptive and quantitative in nature. Data were collected through survey method. The target population of this study was all private secondary school teachers in the district of Lahore. Data were collected from 400 secondary school teachers from 20 private secondary schools of Lahore city by using convenient sampling technique. Transformational, transactional and laissez-faire leadership behaviors of school principals were investigated by using Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire scale. To assess the school climate, Organizational Climate Description Questionnaire Revised Elementary scale was adopted. The collected data were analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21 by using both descriptive (Mean, Standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Pearson correlation and Multiple Regression model). Findings of the study revealed that leadership styles of school principals were more transformational than transactional and laissez-fair as perceived by teachers. There was a strong significant correlation between transformational leadership style of school principals\ and school climate as perceived by the teachers. Leadership decision was emerged as a dominant factor as compared to other factors of school climate (faculty relations, attitude and culture). This study has implications for school principals, teacher training institutions, educational policy makers and professional development organizations.Item A study of the teachers’ perception about technical and vocational education training (tvet) curriculum improvement through tvet reforms(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Muhammad Shahbaz TayyabTVET Reform Support Program (RSP) in 2011 with an aim to devise a National Skills Strategy (NSS), introduced systems to impart and assess skills, making this sector as an engine to economic growth. This is a multi-lateral initiative co-funded by the European Union (EU), the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Federal Republic of Germany, and being implemented in Pakistan by the GIZ (CBT&A). The study objective about improve learning outcomes, curricular reforms are being introduced and adapted after the TEVT Reform. A major practical aspect of this is to improve the curriculum of textbooks used in TVET system, so the project is also under the supporting by the TVET Reform. The population of the study was confined all the teachers of private and public technical institutions at Lahore There were total four public and twenty private technical institutions in Lahore. The random sampling technique was used on the basis of three most common technical areas: Electrical, Civil and Mechanical. A self-developed questionnaire was used for data collection. The collected data was analyzed through using SPSS (statistical package for social sciences) in order to investigate the teachers’ perception regarding improvement of TVET curriculum after the of TVET Reforms in technical institutions the findings of the study revealed that teachers’ perception regarding the improvement of TVET curriculum practice after the TVET Reform are not affected by the qualification, experience, and nature of job and area of specialization of the teachers. It is suggested that future research should include other improvement of TEVT curriculum practices to gain deep insight to explore this area of research.Item An analysis of the perceptions towards teaching as a career choice among university students in lahore(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Ammara FazalTeaching, as a career choice remained focus for researchers since decades and in current scenario quality assurance movement in higher education has further emphasized its importance. This study was carried out in continuation of this tradition and explored perceptions of university students about teaching as a career choice and its importance in higher education institutions of Lahore. Two universities, one public and one private, were randomly, selected to conduct the study. Three hundred students were randomly selected who were enrolled in different programs of these universities. Both male and female students from different semesters were part of the sample. Researcher developed an instrument after extensive literature review of teaching profession and pilot tested. The reliability of the tool was Cronbach alpha 0.835. The instrument was comprised of 11 career choice factors: societal influence, workplace safety, autonomy, advancement opportunities, peer relations, decision participation, work conditions, retirement plan, personal recognition, Attitude towards teaching as career choice and salary. The study was descriptive and quantitative in nature. The collected data was analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21 by using both descriptive and inferential statistics (t-test, ANOVA and Post-Hoc). Student’s attitude towards teaching as a career profession highly positive. The attitude of the students was influenced by three factors such as personal recognition, peer relation and autonomy. This study would be useful for higher education curriculum developer to support the students to become effective university teachers. Future study can be conducted to assess higher education curriculum for effective faculty development. Key words: higher education; perceptions; university studentsItem Analysis of entrepreneurial attitude and self-efficacy of the teachers at higher education institutions(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Kausar KhalilTeachers’ attitudes and self-efficacy influence their belief and selection of instructional pedagogies in their classroom to teach a subject. The main aim of this research was to analyze entrepreneurial attitude and self-efficacy of the teachers at higher education institutions. Entrepreneurial attitude and self-efficacy are two important constructs that need to be present among the entrepreneurial teachers. These constructs are important for the teachers to believe in their capability and use of innovative teaching pedagogies to inculcate such skills among the students, so they can play their role in bringing prosperity to the nation with innovations and creativity. A special consideration is required to transform the curriculum and teachers’ competencies and skills to bring a remarkable change in attitude and behavior of the teachers, who have the responsibility to transform the nation. Therefore, focus of developing entrepreneurial intentions by motivating and encouraging them through teaching pedagogies, is the need of time. The objectives of the study were to identify relationship between entrepreneurial attitude and self-efficacy of the teachers at higher education institutions and to identify the influence of demographic variables on each variable of the study. It was a quantitative research based on the survey research design. Population of the study were the teachers of higher education institutions related to the departments of engineering, business, and social sciences, from both sectors of public and private streams of Lahore, Pakistan. Sampling process of the study was based on three stages. During the first stage, 50 % universities were randomly sampled from each sector, according to which, 7 universities were selected from the public sector and 13 universities were selected from the private sector. During the second stage, faculties and departments were sampled, whereas, during the third stage, teachers were sampled, based on random sampling technique. Total 550 questionnaires were distributed, but 397 questionnaires were returned out of which only 356 completely filled questionnaires were retained. The instrument, for measuring entrepreneurial attitude and self-efficacy of the teachers, was developed to collect responses of the respondents. The tool was constructed on the basis of factors and subfactors related to entrepreneurial attitude and self-efficacy, which was validated by five related field experts. For pilot testing, 100 questionnaires were tested for the reliability of the instrument, for which the Cronbach’s alpha value was .995. Both inferential and descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data by descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, and correlation. Results of the study concluded that teachers of higher education institutions in Lahore do possess entrepreneurial attitude and self-efficacy, irrespective of the discipline, qualification, gender, and prior entrepreneurship training. It was also found to have a significant relationship between the factors of entrepreneurial attitude and self-efficacy among the teachers of higher education institutions. This study may be helpful for the policy makers, leaders, practicing, and prospective teachers, associated with higher education institutions to take important measures in inculcating the characteristics of entrepreneurial attitude and self-efficacy, in order to bring effectiveness in teaching and learning processes in dynamic environment of the 21st century. Behind this context there are so many laws and convention which provides them their fundamental rights for living. People with disabilities have also the right to live a quality of life and get their basic rights in a society. Children with Hearing Impairment have also the right to get quality of education in their society. The study was conduct to explore those barriers which were being faced by the Teacher when they were teaching Learners with Hearing Impairment during the Class. The current study “Barrier faced by the Teachers while Teaching Learners with Hearing Impairment in Special Schools of Lahore District” carried some of barriers like Barrier to communication, barrier to curriculum adaptation, barriers to instructional adaptation, barrier to inflexible assessment, barrier to engagement of students. To conduct the current study Teachers of Learners with Hearing Impairment of Lahore District were being selected as sample of the study. A questionnaire was distributed among the Teachers of Learners with Hearing Impairment of Special Schools of Lahore District. The objective of the study is to explore those barriers which are becoming barriers for the Teachers of Learners with Hearing Impairment. It may change visions of the future and add fear and apprehension in caring for and educating a child. Thus the researcher conducted this study to explore the challenges faced by the parents of children with physical disability in schooling. The research was descriptive in nature so that quantitative research method was used. Parents of children with physical disability were the population of the study. A sample of 274 parents of children with the physical disability was purposively selected from four districts of Lahore Division. The instrument for the study was a self-developed questionnaire which validated from four experts of special education as well as pilot tested to determine its reliability. Data generated from the respondents were analyzed using Mean, Standard deviation, Correlation, Independent sample t-test, and ANOVA. Results of data showed that majority of parents of children with physical disability are facing following difficulties such as unawareness, poverty, access and accessibility, child health, attitude, academics, and child abuse during their schooling. There is a need to identify the governmental, institutional, trainee and instructor's factors those pose challenges and to propose the strategies that can address them in future. Population was instructional staff of Government Technical Training Institutes and Government Apprenticeship Training Centers involved in electricians trade training. Quantitative census sample (N-91) and qualitative, sequential mix methods research was used in the study. The instructors’ feedback is taken through an adapted questionnaire and focused group discussions. The quantitative data gathered were analyzed through statistical analysis software named SPSS. The mean response value and Pearson’s Chi square test were computed to infer the results. Moreover, focused group discussions data were refined utilizing qualitative protocols ascertain the challenges. The findings revealed that there is substantial need to streamlined capacity enhancements of teachers’ that is in-line with the curriculums, triennial revision of curricula and increased funding for teaching learning resources. To succeed towards optimal training; operational and financial autonomy be given to Academic wing for implementation of developed curriculums. This can help policy makers and implementers to excel toward excellence through research culture development. Future studies can be conducted at different level, trade and other provinces. TVET improve the teaching and learning style, so TVET organized the in service teacher training for improve the teacher knowledge, skill and pedagogical activities. This study explore the use of blended learning in service teacher training of TVET teachers in Punjab & Sindh. The objectives of the study were as; 1.To compare the in-service TVET teachers’ perceptions about the effectiveness of in-service teacher training through blended learning in Sindh and Punjab. 2.To compare the principals’ of TVET institutions' perceptions about the effectiveness of in-service teacher training through blended learning in Sindh and Punjab. 3.To compare the TVET students’ perceptions about the effectiveness of in-service teacher training through blended learning in Sindh and Punjab.Three questionnaires were used to collect the data. IST teacher evaluations questionnaire by TVET teacher were filled by those teacher who has attend the in service teacher training. TVET principals, IST teacher evaluations questionnaire by TVET students was filled by TVET students, filled IST teacher evaluations questionnaire by TVET principals. The population comprised of 960 teachers, 51 principles and 2360 students of TVET colleges of Sindh and Punjab.Regression test applied for assessing the relationship among different variables. ANOVA test applied for checking the significant difference among the perceptions of teachers’, students and principals based on the province. Correlations test applied for checking the relationship among the variable.The result indicate found that there is significant mean difference based on gender between Punjab and Sindh students. The result found that the students of Sindh are more experienced about fourth factor use of media. Principals of Punjab have more understanding rather than the principals of Sindh about second factor difference in teaching. The result show that positive relation is found between IT Based Learning and Applicability Back Home. A positive relation is found between Organization of Training Course and Applicability Back Home. Applicability Back Home and course content of IST teacher evaluations by teacher the result indicate that there is no significant effect of province on principal’s beliefs towards usage of media, difference in teaching, quality of IST course of IST teacher evaluations by principals.Item Comparison of parent’s satisfaction about secondary school examination system of students with hearing impairment(UMT.Lahore, 2018) SUMAIRA ABDULLAHExamination is one and the only instrument for the assessment of different features of teaching learning process. The study was designed to compare the satisfaction level of parents of students with hearing impairment in public and private sectors about secondary school examination process. Satisfaction level was compared regarding examination process like management, exam conduction and quality of board examination. The research was descriptive in nature and survey method was adopted for data collection. Parents of SWHI were the population of the study. A sample of 250 parents of students with hearing impairment was purposively selected from district Lahore. The instrument for the study was a self-developed questionnaire which validated from four experts of special education as well as pilot tested to determine its reliability. Data generated from the respondents were analyzed using Mean, Standard deviation, Independent sample t-test, One sample t test and ANOVA. The findings of the study show that parents of public schools are less satisfied about admission process, exam conduction, result declaration, certificate issuance and examination quality. Educated parents are less satisfied on certificate issuance process. Parents of SWHI from public schools feel discomforted due to poor physical environment, management and conduction of exams. Most of the participants gave some suggestion to overcome and to find permanent solution of these problems, for example, comfortable environment, behavior of examination staff, sign language facility and cooperative attitude of examination boards. Due to this low performance, institutions find it difficult to adjust with altering needs of the 21st century. This low performance badly influences the students’ abilities. These students get employed in different organizations of Pakistan and may became cause of organizations’ decline. On the other hand, an employability gap also exists between the employer and employees, such as employers are not satisfied with the skills and competencies of students. There is a need of Intrapreneurs at different levels of organizations. If these intrapreneurial competencies are developed among the students, they become more creative, innovative, and can play a role in development of any organization. A little attention has been devoted to the development of intrapreneurial abilities of the students. Aim of this interdisciplinary research was to take the perception of the students about the role of education in development of intrapreneurial competencies among the students of higher education of Lahore. Objectives of this study were to identify the role of education in development of intrapreneurial abilities and to find out differences in perceptions of students on the basis of demographics. Research design of this study was survey research. The population of study was the students of public and private universities of Lahore. Four hundred students were selected as sample of the study through random sample technique. For the purpose of cross check the responses of students, perceptions were also taken from the teachers about the role of education in nurturing of intrapreneurial abilities among students. Data were collected through self-developed Instrument. Analyzed the data by descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA. Results indicated that students and teachers were assumed that education is not playing its role in developing intrapreneurial competencies among the students of higher education institutions.Item Competence analysis of female primary school teachers in district kasur(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Shaista NaheedThe purpose of this study was to conduct competence analysis of female primary school teachers (FPSTs) in district Kasur. This study was descriptive and quantitative in nature. The population of the study consisted of FPSTs teaching 5th grade students of district Kasur, the subjects of Mathematics and English. The sample was drawn in two stages. In the first stage, one Tehsil was randomly selected from the four tehsils of district Kasur. In the second stage, teachers (n=167) were selected for content matter knowledge and teachers (n=118) were selected for information communication technologies from the teachers (n=201) of female primary schools of Tehsil Kasur using a simple random sampling method. The theoretical framework of the study was taken from the ten National Professional Standards for Teachers in Pakistan, published in February 2009 by Policy and Planning Wing, Ministry of Education, Government of Pakistan. Three instruments, namely; Subject Matter Knowledge in Mathematics Test (SMKMT); Subject Matter Knowledge in English Test (SMKET); Observation Schedule for Observing Effectiveness of Communication and Use of Information Technologies (OSOECUIT) were used to obtain data. Descriptive statistics and item analysis were used to analyze the data. It was concluded that FPSTs of district Kasur were deficient in subject matter knowledge (SMK) of Mathematics as far as SMK in English is concerned. It was also found that FPSTs were not competent in the effective use of communication nor they were able to make use of information communication technologies. It is recommended that the study should be replicated district wise and province wise to get data on SMK and information communication technologies of FPSTs for designing teacher training and teacher recruitment policies at district, provincial and national level. The overall aim of this qualitative research study was to identify the gaps between the competencies embedded in national curriculum of English of Middle School and teachers’ practices regarding competencies embedded in national curricula. To achieve this aim, the features of competencies embedded in national curriculum of English of Middle School were examined and teachers’ practices regarding competencies embedded in national curriculum were explored. Qualitative content analysis of the official curricula was conducted to identify the features of competencies incorporated in them. Additionally, in depth interviews were conducted with a purposively selected sample of ten teachers from a district in Punjab. Interview data were translated and transcribed. Qualitative content analysis was conducted on all the interview transcripts. Analysis of the data revealed that the documented curriculum is a big success in the skill-oriented and competency-based learning outcomes which are derived through different strands or benchmarks. Moreover, the curriculum also vividly outlines proper strategies for teaching properly linked with the objectives of curriculum. However, there are major gaps in written curriculum and implemented curriculum of English. Analysis of The study has highlighted that English teaching has been a neglected area in schools of Pakistan. Memory driven exam system has directed teachers for rote learning practices. Passive teaching practices are prevailed in majority of the schools. Lack of in-service training does not allow teachers to be active and motivated towards teaching. Development of critical thinking skills, problem solving skills largely lack in teaching and focus lays mostly on word knowledge, sentence knowledge and usage of grammar. Libraries don’t exist in most of the school. Translation method is prevailed as a reading strategy and learners hardly get any opportunity to practice language skills in the classrooms. The implementation is falling back in a two-pronged manner: The monitoring and evaluation of the curriculum requires attention. Teachers training which should be an integral part of the curriculum itself lags thus jeopardizing an effective use of the curriculum.Item Contributing factors behind psychological problems among children and adults with autism(UMT.Lahore, 2018) SUMAIRA LIAQATThe purpose of the current study was to find out major contributing factors behind psychological problems among children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Following were the research questions (1) what are the major contributing factors behind psychological problems among children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder? (2)What are the differences in the perception of parents and teachers about the major psychological problems among children & adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder have?(3)What are the demographic factors which differentiate the perception of teachers and parents about the major factors causing psychological problems among children & adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder? The total sample size of the present study was 70 mothers and 70 teachers. Self developed questionnaire was administered respectively. Non probability purposive sampling strategy was used to collect data. Descriptive analysis reveals that environmental and social factor (mean = 6.73) , teacher and school factor ( mean= 2.68) , Parental factor (mean= 2.67) and Peri pre and post natal factor ( mean= 2.51). Lack of school accessibility, affordability of medicines, infections during pregnancy, lack of access to support services during delivery , lack of trained staff in school, lack of access to support services during delivery, stressful environment, mother’s psychological problems during pregnancy were major contributing factors. T test analysis revealed that Environmental and social, parental and pre peri and post natal factors are identified as three main significant factors contributing in psychological problems among children and adults with Autism with reference to both teachers and parents. Regression analysis Results revealed a significant strong predictive relationship of demographic characteristics and environmental and social factor. Results revealed that Non availability of an occupational therapist, ABA trainer, speech therapist lack of accessibility of schools and twins children are the strongest predictor of psychological problems, according to the mother’s perception with reference to peri pre and postnatal factors. Birth of twin children is the strongest predictor of psychological problems according to the teacher’s perception with reference to parental factors.Item Educational institutions as learning organizations(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Misbah ZafarLearning organizations maintain continuous promotion, employee development, learning and development opportunities, and are seen as learning investments designed to improve organizational success and ability. The purpose of this study was to analyze the views of secondary school teachers on the main role of learning organizations in different variables.Major objectives of the study are as follows: To explore the perceptions of teachers about role of principal in developing educational institutions as learning organization. To explore the perception of teachers about their institute as learning organization on the basis of demographic variables (gender, age, qualification, degree, experience ).To find out Principals’ perception about their institution to develop their institute as learning organization. The sample of the study would be the 312 teachers from public and private secondary schools Lahore. To this end, DLOQ is based on three factors and consists of 21 items. ANOVA, and descriptive were used to find the mean, S.D. The survey results show that teachers are satisfied with the principal and its effectiveness. Further work on educational institutions as a learning organization is needed. Learning organizations must facilitate their employees. The study used quantitative survey methodology. The population of the study comprised of all private secondary school teachers in Lahore, Pakistan. Through stratified random sampling, 24 schools from three different school types were selected. A questionnaire comprising of two scales, Instructional Supervisory Practices Scale (ISPS) originally designed by Peter Baffour- Awuah (2011) and The Work Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivation Scale (WEIMS) developed by Deci and Ryan (2000), was administered to 530 sampled teachers. The level of participants’ perceptions regarding instructional supervisory practices as well as teacher motivation was analyzed by using frequencies and percentages of their responses. Inferential Statistics (t-test, One-way ANOVA and Tukey Test) was applied to analyze the statistically significant differences (if any) in teachers’ perceptions regarding instructional supervisory practices and teacher motivation grouped on the basis of gender, age, academic qualification, and professional experience. Multiple Regression Analysis was used to examine the relationship between instructional supervisory practices and teacher motivation. The results of the study indicated that all the instructional supervisory practices were frequently practiced by the supervisors at private secondary schools of Lahore. The teachers in these schools were more intrinsically motivated. Differences in teachers’ perceptions regarding instructional supervisory practices with reference to their gender and professional experience were found to be statistically significant. However, no differences were observed when compared on the basis of age and academic qualification. A significant positive relationship was found between instructional supervision and teacher motivation. It was concluded that instructional supervision significantly contributes toward teacher motivation. Music therapy has been executed in treatment programs for children who have suffered from strokes, intellectual, behavioral, emotional and different issues. This study was investigated to highlight the role of music therapy in improving the emotional problems of children with cerebral palsy. The Research method was descriptive because the type of research was quantitative in nature. A sample of 126 children with cerebral palsy was purposively selected from 40 public and private special education Centre/institutes. The Instrument for the study was a self-developed questionnaire with three-point rating scale which was faced validated as well as trial tested to determine its reliability. Data generated from the respondents were analyzed using Mean, Standard deviation and independent t-test, and ANOVA statistics. The results showed that music therapy had significant effects on the emotional problems of children with cerebral palsy. It showed that they experienced many emotions ranging from happiness to shyness to excitement. It also helped them communicate more and helped compensate for their lack of ability in some areas. In it survey is done to analyze secondary students’ perception about effect of cooperative learning and self-efficacy towards academic achievement in mathematics. A Mathematics achievement test is also conducted from students through cooperative learning. Questionnaire was used as tool comprising of thirty questions. Students answered through 5-point Likert scale. 400 students from 5 tehsils of Lahore were taken as sample comprising of 200 male and 200 female students. Study determined that there exists a significant but weak relationship among cooperative learning, self-efficacy and secondary level students’ academic achievement in mathematics. The attitude of female students had perceived a little bit more towards self-efficacy and cooperative learning as compared to male students.
