Abstract
This intradisciplinary research work was aimed to analyze the challenges in imparting electrician trade training at G-II level under vocational stream of Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Punjab, Pakistan. There is a need to identify the governmental, institutional, trainee and instructor's factors those pose challenges and to propose the strategies that can address them in future. Population was instructional staff of Government Technical Training Institutes and Government Apprenticeship Training Centers involved in electricians trade training. Quantitative census sample (N-91) and qualitative, sequential mix methods research was used in the study. The instructors’ feedback is taken through an adapted questionnaire and focused group discussions. The quantitative data gathered were analyzed through statistical analysis software named SPSS. The mean response value and Pearson’s Chi square test were computed to infer the results. Moreover, focused group discussions data were refined utilizing qualitative protocols ascertain the challenges. The findings revealed that there is substantial need to streamlined capacity enhancements of teachers’ that is in-line with the curriculums, triennial revision of curricula and increased funding for teaching learning resources. To succeed towards optimal training; operational and financial autonomy be given to Academic wing for implementation of developed curriculums. This can help policy makers and implementers to excel toward excellence through research culture development. Future studies can be conducted at different level, trade and other provinces.
