Zero waste garment construction using DPOL technology
(UMT, Lahore, 2015) Anam Saleem; Iqra Abid; Iqra Afzal; Hina Jannat
Direct pattern on the loom (DPOL) techniques works on the concept of weaving the patterns of garments on to the Jacquard loom. Conventionally more lead time is required to make a garment. With the advancement in technology, now there is need for such a technology which can reduce the fabric loss and lead time. DPOL is used to produce finish edges of garment pieces which reduce loss of fabric. The main aim of our project is to increase the production of direct pattern on Jacquard. Firstly, we developed a pattern of shirt on chart paper. After that, with the same measurements we digitize it on Scot weave software and then save data in floppy disk for transferring it to the Jacquard loom. At the end, we got weaved fabric which was ready for further processes. This process uses less resource than conventional process.

    Internet of things
    (UMT Lahore, 2015) Ali Haider
Among topics covered in this article are IoT permitting technologies, protocols, and application issues. The innovation in internet protocols, communication technologies, and IoT technology (RFID smart sensors, etc.) has enabled the Internet of Things. The theory is also that smart sensors would function together without human involvement to produce new applications. With today’s internet, mobile technologies, and the machine-to-machine (M2M) revolution, a machine revolution has occurred around the world. Moreover, the use of the internet, mobile apps, mobile technologies, and machines has been increasing globally. This is called the IoT revolution. IoT is predicted to cover various technologies in the coming years, allowing new applications by integrating physical items for more intelligent decision-making. The Internet of Things is discussed in depth in the first section of this article. On the following page, some technical details of enabling technologies, protocols, and applications based on IoT are discussed. This evaluation concentrates on some of the most relevant protocols and applications. In this way, researchers and developers can get a quick sense of how different protocols work together without having to read through RFCs and other standards criteria. A summary of current Internet of Things research, as well as a discussion of significant Internet of Things concerns, is also included. Other developing technologies, such as cloud computing, fog computing, and large-scale data analysis, are also studied along with IoT.

    Gain analytics
(UMT Lahore, 2015-03-26) Asad Taj; Hafiz Shahbaz Tariq; Syed M Umer
Different web analysis software is available, but most of them are not easy to use (their installation etc.). Gain Analytics is a tool that provides a combination of all the features that other tools provide. Our tool provides features like the total number of visitors, average time of stay on the website of visitors, geographic location of visitors, devices, platforms, browsers, etc. It shows all the above analysis in the form of charts and tables so that it is easy to understand and analyze by the user. Gain Analytics is very easy to use; even a person with little knowledge of development can use this tool.

Process parameter optimization of wire EDM on stainless-steel-304 material by using Taguchi method
(UMT Lahore, 2015) Hafiz Liaqat Noor; Shoaib Aslam
Wire EDM process is a highly complicated, time varying & sophisticated procedure. This is utilized in the field of molds, dies, precision manufacturing & accurate cutting etc. Any complicated design can be created with high grade of precision & surface finish utilizing wire EDM. The output of this process is influenced by a huge number of input variables. Therefore an appropriate choice of input variables is very crucial to get maximum surface finish, maximum material removal rate and minimum machining time. The selection of these input variables depends greatly on the operator’s choice & experience. Wire EDM is widely utilized in machining of electrically conductive materials when accuracy & precision is of prime significance. In the present work WEDM machining is performed on work parts of stainless steel-304. Actually we wanted to find the effect of process parameters on surface roughness & material removal rate applying on material with varying thicknesses. So, we utilized brass wire with diameter of 0.18mm. Process parameters which we concerned are wire speed, wire feed rate, fluid pressure, and they are used as our input parameters. We varied our input parameters to find out their effect on the material’s surface roughness & material removal rate. Profilometer has been used to measure the surface roughness.

    Rescue 1122
(UMT Lahore, 2015-08-10) Uneeb Saleem Meer; Faiz-ul-Hassan; Usama Jamil
The current system that resides in Rescue 1122 has some flaws, out of these flaws the most major one is the tracking system. They don’t know dynamically where their ambulances are (other than contacting in wireless which is a waste of time if you have 50 ambulances; it is not possible to ask all of them for their location). We will provide them with a solution that they can dynamically see the location of every ambulance present in the city. Not only this, they can even dispatch the ambulance on the map, which returns a message to the app that tells the ambulance drivers where they ought to go.

    Smart order
(UMT Lahore, 2015-07-31) Shehryar Nadeem; Syed Furqan Rizvi; Abdul Rehman Manzoor
Smart Order is an order taking management system that will assist you to take order from your customers smartly and it will provide assistance from order processing to order delivery on customer’s table. Order taking is a hectic process. Big restaurants and fast food franchises like MacDonald’s, Hardees, Fat Burger, Burger King and gourmet restaurants hire human labor to do this task, or some of them will allow you to do order from their order taking counter. In rush or peak hours, it is not only a difficult task for management of branch to handle all the customers and maintain their service standard for everyone, but also for a customer to wait in queue for their turn to buy their order. After buying order, customer need to wait for the delivery of their order on their table with a token number. During this time, customer have no idea about the processing of their order. What if you are sitting in a restaurant and find some of your friends and you invite them to join, or if you want to add something in your order? Opps, now you need to join the order queue again or need to update your order. Mostly, you prefer to forget about it rather than joining the queue again.
