It is difficult for the majority to visit Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, USA and Smithsonian aviation museum at DC Washington, USA and witness such historical and valuable artifacts. This miniature replica will prove itself a permanent asset for IAS, UMT for the faculty to demonstrate on it whenever and wherever it is required to them during imparting knowledge to their concerned students. The dimensions and data of actual first flyer has been collected from the up-to-date blueprints design. Mild steel has been used for the manufacturing of replicaItem 5 and 4 Star Hotel Occupancy by Airline Crew in Lahore(UMT, Lahore, 2021) Hassan Nasir ,M. Talha Bilal and Hamza Alam VirkItem A Comparative Study of International Airline’s Ancillary Functions(UMT, Lahore, 2016) Sajid NadeemThe airline industry has been struggling to survive in economic turbulence throughout its history. The volatility of the industry structure has driven the policy makers to come up with new sources of income in order to survive the fierce competitions from local and foreign competitors and the high fuel costs. Although airlines have been generating non-ticket revenue in the past by auxiliary functions, e.g. ground handling, maintenance, cargo logistics, duty-free shopping, consultancy, charters, inflight catering, and so on but these functions were generally viewed as separate businesses. The current mutually destructive competition market has created what strategy guru W. Chan Kim called a Red Ocean. In order to create a blue ocean, airlines are now focused on competing through brand differentiation. One strategy for differentiation is offering lower airfares via unbundling and offering ancillary services. This thesis discussed airline ancillary services from a marketing perspective, specifically from the retail and service industry point of view. The concept of airline ancillary offerings is explained with the help of applied examples from the airline industry with the support of marketing concepts. The researcher investigated the effects of ancillary offerings in the airline industry and the practices in use for their marketing. It was found that airline ancillary offerings allow passengers to buy only what they need for their travel and gives them control over travel costs thus building airline brand loyalty. The technical process of buying airline ancillary offerings via online retail and GDS travel agents was discussed briefly. Key words: Airline retail, ancillary services, à la carte pricing, bundling/unbundling of services.Item A MEASURE OF MOTIVATION LEVEL OF STUDENTS OF AVIATION MANAGEMENT DEGREE IN UMT.(UMT, Lahore, 2020) SYEDA DUA ABBAS, SYEDA QURATULAIN and BAKHTAWAR NAVEEDThe issue of demotivation and the students getting detracted and mislead during their academic tenure is causing a serious problem in the education sector. The educational institutes, the parents and the students themselves should stay optimistic and truly realistic. The main reason to step ahead and conduct a relative research in this scenario is to find and explore the ways and time periods where the students encounter various misleading and demotivating information and conversations. With the help of this comprehensive research we will be able to identify how we can make those cracks filled up and how to verbally and practically induce optimism in students. This project illustrates the different methods we can use to promote confidence and faith in the students, and this helps us better understand how we can mitigate the sources which lead down the students towards being uninspired. Whereas, we are also being able to understand the whole concept of demotivation of students throughout their academic period, the main area that we are focusing over here is for specifically the students at Institute of Aviation Sciences. The students in the Aviation Department undergo various mental and emotional ups and downs, the fact that this field of study has been offered recently in our country for civil outreach, several people are still uninformed and misguided as well. The other programs and fields of study are quite known and are to be understood as the best choice of education and career path but the aviation sector is highly reputed but only a few are courageous and high hoped enough to step in and choose aviation to be their career path. However, being highly reputable and dignified the aviation students undergo lack of guidance towards practical environment which results in reduced levels of motivation and the current aviation industry growth in our country results the same on the students’ mental health. The objective of this research project is to optimize learning process, update learning and teaching process, improve educational standards, introduce practical exploration of the industry and hence result in improvement of commitment and motivation level of a student towards their career and education. The method that has been used is to perform experiments and various observations on individual and multiple students collectively. The goal was to get as much accurate results as we can so we can clearly sort out the problems and the areas where we are lacking as a department, and as clear we will be towards the root cause of the problem the better we will be able to correct the problem itself. The results that have been generated is that the students need specific help and knowledge according to each step of their academic duration. The students should be helped term by term and according to their needs so we can sustain determination of the students. We are working and utilizing all sources to help and cater such individuals who can learn and grow strong to serve the country’s aviation industry and bring it back to glory and successfully compete with the world.Item A QUANTITATIVE STUDY FOR HYPOTHESIS TESTING OF REDUCTION IN TURN AROUND TIMING FOR A DEPARTING FLIGHT INCREASES SAFETY RISKS(UMT, Lahore, 2022) Ali Zain Abbas; Mahrukh Maria; Mohammad Omer; Noman JavedThe Research is about hypothesis testing of reducing turn-around time increases safety risks for departing flight. What happens if turn-around time for aircraft decreases. how safety is affected due to a decrease in turn-around time and what occurs due to the Reduction in turn-around time? The Reduction in turn-around time affects airline safety and it mainly effects person safety. Due to decrease turn-around time safety is poorly affected and due to that airline reputation is also severely affected. Air-travel not only provides connectivity but also provides accessibility, comfort, reliability and catalytic influence; in terms of tourism. Smaller airports are often not financially viable when made for the sole purpose of tourism and highly susceptible to the competition posed by ground transport means. Planning decisions for air-transport, such as making a new Greenfield or brownfield airport or extension of runways takes years and years of planning. Airports for their growth rely on the economic productivity of an area, tourism potential, industrial activity etc. But often economic developments are considered to be dependent on air travel alone often this leads to infrastructural white elephants. Airports like other industries and businesses and must run with a clear purpose of inclusive growth. With the collective approach from all stakeholders, creating distinction through branding and estimating target segment, smaller airports could be made a viable profit-earning entity instead of a liability. The model perceives how supervisory monitoring can influence front line employee’s sense of independence in the workplace, which may subsequently impact service delivery. The targeted population for this research was Front line employees at airline check-in counters and ground handling from Lahore airport. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire with a total of 153 responses, which was distributed through online and physical means. For the results, mediation analysis was conducted using Smart partial least square (PLS) and statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). The Cronbach Alpha (>0.7), composite reliability and AVE proved the validity and reliability of the measurements used in this study. Moreover, values of SRMR, R2 and Q2 assessed the good fitness of the model. The study highlights a full mediation as the direct relationship between SM and ISB is insignificant.” However, a significant indirect effect took place, where supervisory monitoring positively influenced employee autonomy, which in turn significantly enhanced innovative service behavior (ISB). The results indicate that a well-managed level of supervisory monitoring, combined with increased employee autonomy, creates a supportive atmosphere that encourages innovative behavior for the employee. The study contributes to the existing literature by highlighting the critical interplay between supervision, autonomy, and innovation in high pressure service environments like the aviation industry.”Item AI Chat-Bot for E-Commerce Website(UMT, Lahore, 2023) Muhammad Haseeb Mudassar, Sarosh QaiserThe most apparent commercial usage of the World Wide Web is business-to-consumer goods e commerce. Aviation industry ensure and prioritize the safety of an aircraft. But somehow air crash occurs due to mainly three factors which are technical factor, external factor and human factor. Out of these, human factor or latent error is most crucial cause of accidents because it is almost unnoticeable and often overlooked while finding the cause of accidents. For this issue, HFACS model was proposed which looks into different types of latent errors that may occur in aviation industry. Using this model, accidents occurred in Pakistani, American and Canadian Airlines were analysed and found out what kind of latent error is occurred most and which country’s airline reported more accidents due to latent error. It was found that Canadian Airlines reported more case due to latent error and was found that the latent error is not blamed as the major cause of the accident.Item Air traffic services (ATS)(UMT, Lahore, 2017) SAAD SHAHID and SHABAAN ALI SHABBARThis section covers an extensive summary of whole practicum/thesis. First of all, a list of phraseologies and terminologies are given which are used in this thesis report. Air traffic services (ATS) are the services given to all aircrafts present in the airspace for their safe conduct of flight. The services include navigational services, flight information services, route advisory services, correct use of airspace and collision avoidance services. There are three main fields of service given by ATS that are: - i. Air Traffic Control. ii. Air Traffic Flow Management. iii. Air Space Management. In Pakistan, the air traffic services are provided by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA). In spite of being a regulatory body, PCAA also provides air navigation services as well as airport services. The sources of navigation make the aircraft able to perform its operations efficiently and safely in air. The sources used are: - i. Vhf Omni-directional Range/ Distance Measuring Equipment. ii. Non-Directional Beacons. iii. Instrumental Landing System. The objectives of ATS are achieved by avoiding collision between the aircrafts, lenient flow of traffic in airspace, maintaining safe distance between aircrafts; vertically or horizontally and by safe conduct of flights. It can be seen historically that the need of ATS became compulsory when the commercial aviation gained a boom in its activities. With the passage of time, aviation inspired and attracted many people towards it which resulted in congestion of airspace. First, ATS had initial advancements then the technology raised its level.Item Aircraft Storage and Preservation via Corrosion Control(UMT, Lahore, 2018) Omer Mustafa, Syed Armughan Hussain Kazmi and Burhan Nasir BhattiFrom past few years corrosion has become a major issue in all engineering sectors as well as in aviation. The main purpose of this project was to realize the importance of marketing in the airline industry and what marketing can do for promoting a business. I will launch my new airline whose name will be…… The basic objective was to launch an airline in the current economic situation. The airline that i will launch will only caters the society of Pakistan which is upper and middle as well as lower middle class. Healthy and perfect transport will be provided to all the depressed people. The name of my airline will attract the customers by making a sense in their minds that the airline is not expensive that’s why i choose such a name. I will use simple marketing techniques to promote product and will not waste money on expensive techniques for marketing product rather i will use sponsorship techniques. The population of Pakistan is increasing with the passage of time so i have decided to hit a section of society including lower middle class and middle class which is significantly affected by the expenses of air travels because they do not think beyond their basic requirements such as shelter, food and clothes. My project will be beneficial for the largest part of society of Pakistan which is middle and upper class and let them think that there is someone who cares for them. I researched and for collecting a lot of information but now i got to know the exact situation of Pakistan through PESTEL analysis and business opportunities. I have learned that there is a lot of vacant space available in the aviation industry and unique ideas can insist investors to invest in this industry for improving this industry.
