Item A Psychosocial Study on Quality of life of Young Adults of Working and Non-working mothers(UMT.Lahore, 2021) Rameesha ZarfeenThis study compared “quality of life” of young adults of both “working” and “non working mothers”. The “quality of life” was measured through 4 domains; physical health domain, psychological health domain, social relationships domain and environment domain. A total of 175 respondents (88 males and 87 females) were included in this study, out of which 75 respondents were young adults of working mothers and 100 respondents were young adults of non-working mothers aged 18-25. Data was collected through online questionnaires with non probability convenient sampling technique. The data was examined through SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences). It was concluded that there are no significant differences between young adults of “working” and “non-working mothers” in terms of quality of life. The gender differences among young adults were also measured. The findings showed that there are significant gender differences in terms of “quality of life” among young adults of “working mothers” which shows that females of “working mothers” have higher “quality of life” as compared to males of “working mothers”. Results of gender differences among young adults of “non-working mothers” showed that there are no significant gender differences in terms of “quality of life” among young adults of “non-working mothers”.Item A QUALITATIVE STUDY EXPLORING PERCEPTIONS OF PARENTS ABOUT THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION IN GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE SCHOOL(UMT.Lahore, 2022) Fatima HaroonEducation is the basic need and right of every human being. The quality of education is an obligatory and predictable representative for change as education is a process of development and civilization. The issue of deterioration the quality of education in Pakistan, especially decline in rural area because people are not aware about the importance of education. The major purpose of the research was to explore the perceptions of parents about quality of education in government and private schools in rural area. Purposive sampling are used for data collection and instrument of the collection date was participant observation and in-depth interviews which was conducted between the researcher and participants. Infrastructure facilities was better in government school than in private school but private school involve their students more in extra circular activities. In Islam, people believe in three types of dreams which are cited in the Quran o Hadith.Item A STUDY OF SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS EFFECTING THE CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR AMONG YOUTH IN DISTRICT JAIL, LAHORE(UMT.Lahore, 2017) MUHAMMAD UMARYouth is considered the dominant factor in the development of the country. The involution of the youth of country signs of its’ dark future. While considering the paramount of the youth crime the research aimed to evaluate the factors that are responsible for crime among youth. The research surveyed the district jail Lahore and collected date from 120 respondents while adopting systematic sampling approach. The researcher analyzed the data through SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) while running the linear regression. The results of linear regression showed that most of the major crimes among youth are influenced by the social, psychological and economic factors. The frequency of the crime among youth is directly proportional to the disturbance in their social, psychological and economic status. The youngsters who have copacetic social status, good psychological level, and higher economic status have lower propensity to commit major crimes murder, illicit sexual activity, narcotics, robbery, murder attempt, violence, kidnapping, and fraud. But on another hand, the puerile persons who lower social status, poor psychological situation and lower economic status have higher chances to pull in these crimes. On the substratum of the findings of the research, the researcher recommended that policy of the state that covers the employment for all youngsters with opportune pay, edification institutions, family, and media are the implements that can play a role in preventing criminal behavior among youth.Item A STUDY ON THE PATTERNS AND PURPOSE OF ADOLESCENT MOBILE TOUCH SCREEN DEVICES USE FROM PARENT’S PERSPECTIVE(UMT.Lahore, 2023) Muhammad AmirTeenagers are using mobile touch screen devices more and more frequently, such as smart phones and tablets. The manner in which young people utilise these technologies and their possible consequences are however, little understood. As a result, this qualitative study investigated parental attitudes and issues as well as parent/caregiver opinions of their adolescent's usage patterns and variables impacting use. Methods: Twenty parents or carers of teenagers in Chiniot, Pakistan, who were chosen to represent men and women of various ages and socioeconomic classes (n = 20), participated in semi-structured interviews. The question addresses aspects that will be important throughout the week and on the weekends, use patterns, forms of activities, frequency of use, parental management ways, and issues. Interviews were captured on tape and written down. Investigations have been made to identify the multiple factors, barriers and provider perspectives of low use of Antenatal care services. Maternal mortality is still a big public health problem in Pakistan. To improve the maternal health there is need to implement the strategy of four Antenatal care service visits should be ensured. Utilization of antenatal care services influenced by multiple factors that varies from one country to another. The socio-economic condition, less knowledge about the Antenatal care services and the attitude of the rural people towards the public health care services are considered as population factors. This study explored the public health services facilities and providers behavior towards the Antenatal care services. Timely seeking antenatal care services are essential for healthy outcomes of individuals and communities. Understanding the antenatal care services and behavior towards the utilization of health care services are important for the development of health care system educational strategies and appropriate health policies. The behavior of rural people about antenatal care services depends on the nature of complaint and social circumstances. The purpose of the research was to assess the perception of pregnant women and their families regarding health seeking behavior during pregnancy and its complications. To evaluate the barriers regarding health seeking behavior during pregnancy. The research provides the recommendations for improving the primary health care services for pregnant women‟s in rural areas and helps to make possibilities easy to access antenatal care services.Item ABLEISM AND CHALLENGES FACED BY WOMEN WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES: A QUALITATIVE STUDY OF WOMEN IN LAHORE PAKISTAN.(Abeeha Zahra, 2023) Abeeha ZahraThis research endeavors to explore the lived experiences of women with physical disabilities grappling with the challenges posed by ableism within Lahore, Pakistan. Delving into the intricacies of this intersection between disability and gender, the qualitative study sheds light on the nuanced dynamics at play. Despite the burgeoning discourse surrounding disability rights, the narratives of this specific cohort remain largely overlooked. Through in-depth interviews and thematic analysis, the research unveils the pervasive presence of ableism within societal beliefs, structures, and institutions, exerting profound impacts on the everyday realities of the participants. The study elucidates narratives of resilience juxtaposed against prevalent prejudices, shame, and exclusion, deeply entrenched in cultural paradigms and conventions. Furthermore, it delineates the multifaceted obstacles encountered by physically disabled women, ranging from restricted access to education, employment, healthcare, and social inclusion to navigating traditional gender stereotypes, including marriage and matchmaking, violence, and sexual and reproductive health. By offering significant insights into the lived experiences of women with physical disabilities in Lahore, this research contributes meaningfully to the broader discourse surrounding ableism, disability, gender, and society, thereby enhancing scholarly understanding and advocacy efforts in this realm.Item Academic Performance(UMT.lahore, 2019) Hira QadirThis study has been conducted to understand an important issue about student’s frustration i.e. causes, feeling, reactions to impact on student academic performance. The sample size was 200 individuals including boys (n= 115) and girls (n=85) from two universities of Lahore city. The data collection was designed the questionnaires which include close ended questions. After data collection different statistical techniques were used to find, frequency tables and formulation of hypothesis (descriptive and statistical analysis). Also check the reliability of scale show α= 0.787, so scale shown the stronger. Correlation (bivariate analysis) test has applied to verify demographic association with research questions. Moreover, the overall result about association between frustration and students’ academic performance are strong and also identify the effect of frustration among student’s academic performance in gender basis.Frustration is one of the issue which can be controlled through education and awareness. This study is important because through this the researches are investigating the level of awareness of students’ academic performance about frustration. The review of literature showed that lack of awareness can be a major cause of frustration in academic sector.Item Adjustment Experiences Of Women Having Physical Disability At Their Workplace And Domestic Level(UMT.lahore, 2020) Saman MehmoodCurrent research objectives were to explore the adjustment experiences of women having physical disability at their workplace and domestic level. The study adopted qualitative research methodology. Purposive sampling method has been used to draw sample. The researcher has conducted 10 in depth interviews with married disabled women having at least 1 child and also working full time with at least 2 year experience to collect data and used a thematic analysis of the transcription of interviews. Research findings showed by using thematic analysis identified that women believed that disability as a result of not only a natural process but also as a societal and traditional process. Married women with disability were facing issues of adjustment on their workplace and in their family life also. Married women with disability were feeling isolation, self-disrespect, and low income, unsupportive attitude of their family members. Moreover they also face economic and mobility issues as they are dependent on other people. Beside this they also face lack of familial support and working opportunities. They face discrimination at income level but in order to survive in the society and not to be dependent on others they are forced to continue their jobs.Item An Ethnographic Perspective Of Rituals And Practices At The Shrine Of Baba Farid(UMT.Lahore, 2022) Syed Wajid Hussain ZaidiItem AN EXPLORATION OF EXCLUSIONARY PRACTICES AND THEIR IMPACT ON TRANSGENDERS IN LAHORE, PAKISTAN(UMT.Lahore, 2021) Nosheen ZaidiTranssexual and transgender is one of the minorities in society and therefore are socially excluded portion of society. This study aimed to explore the social exclusion of transgenders, Lahore, Pakistan. A qualitative design was adopted whereby two focus group discussions were conducted comprising of 10 participants in each focus group discussion. A focus group discussion guide was prepared accordingly including questions on familial negation, exclusionary practices in health, educational and economic sphere as well as its impact on them. The collected information has been analyzed thematically. Finding shows that family is dysfunctional for transgenders, for instance, negation, denial, lack of affection, and exclusion from the family. Exclusionary practices in education and schools are the next dilemma of transexuals and transgenders. Discrimination terms of health facilities is also prevalent. It includes ignoring transgenders during treatment, harassing and use of explicate language from male doctors and nurses. Law institution also includes discrimination against transexuals and transgender. For example, disciplinary laws, rules & regulations, strategies and rehearses may cause targeting to transgender living in a specific area. Familial negation, health, economic, educational and laws related discriminations have numerous negative impacts on transexuals and transgenders.Item An exploratory study of feminist activism and its influence on masculinity of man in Pakistan(UMT.Lahore, 2021) Farwa Hadayat“Unity, equality we are not anti-men we are pro human”. Feminism has assumed an indispensable part in the transformation of current cultures. Women's activist developments internationally have changed customary man centric attitudes and helped ladies convey for their social and political space in a male-overwhelmed biosphere. In simple words, what have feminist movements struggled for, among other things? Equality. However, initially from a historically specific (western) and ethnocentric arrangements, feminist theories have developed to see the value in subtleties achieved by culture and history across geological contexts. Neverthless, in spite of the distinctions in culture, viewpoint, practices and way of talking of various women's activist developments, the center ideal of woman's rights, that of gender equality, stays at the focal point across the world. Comprehensively talking, regardless of the gigantic contrasts in various feminisms, and evaluates of western women's liberation for being ethnocentric and oblivious to real factors of non-western ladies, woman's rights has taken a stab at office, opportunity and sex fairness.Item An Inquiry into the Political Participation of Religious Minorities vis-a-vis their Democratic and Civic Socialization(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Fouzia NaveedThe research was conducted to explore the political situation of religious minorities (Hindu and Sikh) of Pakistan. The objectives of the research were to explore the perception of religious minorities about their political participation, to analyze the notions of political participation of religious minorities and to identify the influences of democratic and civic socialization for political participation. For data collection, non-probability technique was used. Researcher used purposive and snowball sampling technique for present research. Twenty in-depth interviews were conducted containing twelve Hindu activists and eight Sikh activists from Punjab and Sindh. . In order to collect the data, in-depth interviews, informal meetings and observation were used as a research technique. Interview guide used as a tool for data collection. Data analysis was done in the thematic way and draw sub-themes from the main themes. It was found that religious minorities face stigmatization in urban and rural areas of Pakistan, but the intensity of stigmatization is high in rural areas as well as among uneducated people. The political rights of religious minorities are exploited in Pakistan. The Pakistani government shows the diplomatic attitude for religious minorities in front of foreign persons. Religious minorities are also exploited from politically elected member of their own community. They face negligence from state, extremist groups exploit them and the general public, who show hatred towards religious minorities. Religious minorities demand for the transition from the unified to the dual voting system. This study assesses the level of cyberbullying experienced by college girls and analyze its impact on their emotional well-being and academic performance.Item Appraisement Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) affecting University Students’ Performance(UMT.Lahore, 2018) MUHAMMAD ADEEL IRSHADItem Assessing Cultural Competence Change in Graduate Students Following a Diversity Course(UMT.lahore, 2019) Unsa Dastgir ButtIn our increasingly diverse world, Pakistani society owing to its complex cultural and religious beliefs has been identified to be one of the least diverse countries in the world. As a reaction, higher education institutions in Pakistan have recognized the urgency of this issue and worked towards the advancement of such diversity initiatives at university level for the purpose of developing students’ cultural competence. However, there is still ambiguity regarding the levels of cultural competence amongst students who take part in such diversity courses in the Pakistani universities. This study investigated the impact of participation in a diversity course on the cultural competence of university students. Fifty two graduate students from one 4-year, private university participated in this study. Participants (N=52, 35 male & 17= female) completed the Cultural Competence Scale (CCAS) as a pretest and posttest measure in order to investigate incremental changes during the semester. Data were analyzed by correlation coefficient, paired sample t-test and ANOVA. The analysis revealed that the participation in diversity course can precipitate some change in cultural competence of students but only the cultural knowledge/awareness scores of male students were increased significantly at the end of the semester. Other demographic and educational variables (including age, ethnicity, academic discipline and diversity related course participation) in this study were not instrumental in the development of students’ cultural competence. Implications for research and measurement with cultural competencies are discussed.Item Assessment of the relationship between fear of covid19, death anxiety, quality of life and religious coping during pandemic covid19 in Pakistan(UMT.Lahore, 2022) NEELUM NAZIRBackground: In most of our lifespan, the existing spell is like no others. Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationships between fear of covid19, death anxiety, quality of life and religious coping. Method: A quantitative approach used by the researcher in which convenience sampling method used to gather data through online survey and offline survey. 287 respondents have participated in the research.
