    Theological Seminary
(University of Management & Technology, 2018) Abeer Obaid
Religious architecture has historically played a primary role in both the study and the development of architectural practices and theories. Undoubtedly, this influence is tied to the position which religious institutions have historically held in shaping cultural values. However, Christian culture has transitioned into a position where religious organizations are often no longer the primary authority for determining cultural, social, and interpersonal values for many Christians. Additionally many individuals have, for one reason or another, become uncomfortable or feel unwelcome in traditional church structures due to the historical hierarchies associated with them, the innate formality of the spaces, the perceptions of expected behaviors, or discomfort with language and interpretations of spirituality or religion. These changes have had a major impact on the economic and functional dynamics to which religious institutions must now adhere. While churches remain a venue for architectural expression, they no longer hold the position as the primary source for considering architectural culture; which has, for the most part, transitioned to museums, cultural, commercial, or office buildings. It is clear that the manner in which religious organizations operate and conduct themselves must therefore evolve in order to respond to these new forces, and so must the architecture which houses them. Only by adapting to these new pressures can these religious organizations hope to remain relevant and active in the changing cultural climate where religious institutions and religious individuals are often greeted with skepticism and suspicion.

    Respite Hub
(University of Management & Technology, 2018) Omer Sharif
The objective of the study was to evaluate the impact of respite hub developments on consumer behavior in city areas. Local and international research indicated that respite hub developments in city premises result in several benefits for consumers, such as convenient location; a larger variety of goods offered, lower prices than small retailers in the area and better quality of goods, amongst others. Studies also indicated that the choice of the preferred supermarket/shopping mall is not a rational decision based only on pricing, but on a compromise of satisfying economic, social and psychological needs. A two part mixed methodology, which employed both qualitative and quantitative methods, was adopted. This included semi-structured interviews with retail experts and interview-administered questionnaires with the primary retail shopper in the household. Findings revealed that lowincome consumers prefer to shop from the closest shopping mall instead of small retailers/Spaza Shops because of the lower prices and a larger variety of goods offered. However, evidence suggested that consumers prefer to shop at a shopping mall that represents their desired lifestyle, therefore shopping mall developments in township areas, do not fulfil the social and aspirational needs of low-income consumers. For this reason, low-income consumers continue to purchase from malls in urban areas.

    Cultural Hub, Muzaffarabad
(University of Management & Technology, 2018) Sibgha Tahir
We shape the buildings and there after they shape us” -Winston Churchill Traditionally architecture simultaneously reflects and influence culture in a circle that arcs from national expression through neighborhood, workplaces and educational establishments. The very essence of every built form or built up environments is the manifestation of culture masked behind its layers of abstraction. The manifestation may be royal and imposing like those of the mighty empires, or may be simple and yet powerful to create an identity for those who adhere to it. It's similar to an artist who paints his canvas and there by builds a sanctuary in the hearts of people and lives forever through his work. Elaborating the expression of culture on the built form is usually the unconscious effort of every designer. In fact, culture plays a dominant role at the very out set of any design process. This is because, any design when conceptualized to perform a desired function, is directly or indirectly derived from or synchronized with the cultural identity of the user. It is what frames our thought processes. It defines individual identity and helps to recollect past memories

    Disaster Management & Prevention Center
(University of Management & Technology, 2018) Maiwand Khan Bangash
For the last few decades, Pakistanhave suffered some huge losses due to natural and man-made disasters. Which is costing us in every possible way whether it is an economic loss or human loss. Disasters like earthquakes, floods, and droughts are hitting us almost every year now and due to limited resources, lack of institutional capacity and public awareness Pakistan struggles to coup up with the damage. Lack of institutional capacity and public awareness is the area which needs to be addressed on a first priority basis as we cannot afford to bear more losses to our economy and to our people. Huge amount of our people are displaced and lose their homes and other valuables to natural disasters every year. In order to rehabilitate them the state finds it difficult to manage thus it results in usage of a lot of resources. We cannot fight nature but we can prevent, prepare and educate to reduce the losses. Pakistan accommodate a headquarter building to operate and administer disasters from one platform, a training institute to train and educate and prepare our own people professionally to fight the disasters hitting us and other essential facilities related to disaster management. The facility would not only fulfill the requirement of a headquarter but will also educate and prepare the public of every age group for any kind of unforeseen disaster or hazard bestowed upon us.

Youth Center (Community Center for Youth)
(University of Management & Technology, 2018) Sadia Siddiqi
Now a days we are living in an era where internet gave us access to pervasive things to distract our mental and physical abilities. In this 21st century a child who belong to a privileged society have gadgets like computers, tabs, mobile phones, video games and etc., when becoming youth results lack of awareness to the importance or necessity of the physical games and curriculum activities. Thus to emerges the need a platform for youth who are interpolated with mechanized objects to help them by giving proper opportunity or awareness of physical activities. The main reason for such detracted youth is that they are too much indulge in these tech oriented mechanized objects and we provide them excessive indoor facilities like x-box, internet, video games, online media and etc. In order to bring the youth into more productive and healthy environments, I want to introduce a youth center. No doubt internet, television and social media are giving us the awareness of today's whole world in a very easy manner, but physical fitness and healthy mental activities are not provided by these things. To take part in physical activities gives the youth the spirit to grow in other activities and work properly. In a nut shell a platform like youth center is quite compulsory for successful communities and for the betterment of youth.

Design and Simulation of a Hybrid Power System of Renewable Energy Resources (Solar, Wind, Bio-Gas) With National Grid
(University of Management & Technology, 2016) Saghir, Saman
The production of electricity is one of the basic necessities of any country. Even though Pakistan has many production units, we still lack in meeting the yearly demand. Hybrid power system is a system that infuses our natural resources with renewable energy to decrease the initial and final cost of production. My project is the design and simulation of the national grid with three major renewable energy resources. It helps lower the cost of production by 2/3rd of the original cost. It also helps save the environment from CO2emissions causing a reduction in the chances of global warmingpermitting us a clean and green environment. My project is the integration of Solar, Wind and Biogas with the national grid system. I have solar as my primary source, followed by wind as my secondary and prioritizing battery as my last. When all else fails, I will use biogas for the battery to recharge it and supply enough power for the whole integrated system. The aim of my thesis is to design and simulate the Hybrid Power System in such a way that the efficiency or performance of the system increases.

A Lakeside Retreat: Exploration of a Hidden Pearl
(University of Management & Technology, 2016) Afzal, Freeha
This project lies its basis in the exploration of a hidden pearl of nature, in relation to its significance with respect to space ,time and its ethnicity, with an intent to seek equilibrium between the existing natural structure and architectural development for the benefits of Nation and its people. The project will comprise of a lakeside destination resort development with amenities of public interest and temporary accommodation. Watersides and landforms always inspire people to rejoice themselves by taking a break from their daily work routines or long term vacations. Thus my concern here is to create a recreational hub at a natural site adjacent to Simli Lake in Islamabad encompassing the ecological treasure of green mountains.
