Need to belong and loneliness amongst transgender i fcommunity due to family rejection
(UMT.Lahore, 2022) Maria Maqsood; Maryam Bilal; Zainab Akram Awan
Transgenders pay the price for a non-binary gender conformation in every walk of life including spending a life away from their family members. This study aims at assessing an unexplored aspect of their mental health i.e., their need to belong somewhere and the loneliness they experience as the cost of their life choices. For this, four participants were selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected through in-depth interviews that consisted of semi-structured open-ended questions. The findings of the research indicate that the transgenders are mainly outcasted due their professional choices. After spending a lifetime away from their loved ones, they now regret the reckless behavior they adapted in youth. However, that does not justify the difficulties they face in the form of mocking, judgments and not being able to find a safe place to live. The trans-community has been found to play a positive role in the lives of the transgenders although the intercommunity conflicts are a part of their bond. Hence, our study concludes that the unjust behavior on the part of society makes the transgender individuals question where they belong and the loneliness prevails in their lives despite of living amongst similar people. The only way out of this dilemma is through accepting the third gender as a normal part of this society.

    Workplace violence
(UMT.Lahore, 2022) Noor Fatima Rashid; Afzaal Abdullah
The study aimed to examine relationship among workplace violence, work related quality of life and turnover intentions in university teachers. A correlational research design was adopted to assess the relation. Using stratified random sampling, 106 individuals, (M=51, W=55) from various universities in Lahore, were contracted. The assessment used Experience of Violence Scale (Kelloway et al, 2002), Fear of Violence Scale (Sacht and Kelloway, 2003), Work-Related Quality of Life Scale (Van Lan et al, 2007), and the Turnover Intentions Scale (Micheal and Spector, 1989). Pearson's product-moment correlation gauged the relation among variables, independent-sample t-test evaluated gender distinctions and linear regression analysis predicted turnover intentions with other variables. The findings revealed a negative correlation between workplace violence and work-related quality of life (WRQoL) with significance observed in both experience of violence by coworkers and students. A significant negative correlation was observed between WRQoL and turnover intentions. There was positive correlation between workplace and turnover intentions which was highly significant when it came to experience of violence by coworker and fear of violence. Gender differences were only significant in working conditions and exhibited marginal significance in turnover intentions, slightly above the significance level. Both workplace violence and WRQoL partially forecasted turnover intentions with positive significance predicted only in case of experience of violence by coworkers and negative significant prediction in low stress at work and overall quality of life. This study has the potential to contribute to the prevention of workplace violence, thereby enhancing the quality of work-life for university teachers and fostering a stronger commitment to their organizations.

    Impact of body image
(UMT.Lahore, 2022) Muhammad Wasif Naeem; Moazma Matloob; Rimla Hassan; Mahnoor
This is a research based study that investigates pre-marital anxieties and concerns of current era adolescents and evaluates variables that is fueling the premarital sexual anxiety. These variables are sexual attractiveness or body image, sexual esteem, and sexual aversion. Moreover, study summaries the relationship of these variable to determine sexual anxiety. The current study investigates adolescent sexual anxiety before marriage. For the purpose of evaluating premarital sexual anxiety, a small-scale empirical study was done among adolescents enrolled in different organizations. A questionnaire of 33 items was used in this research to collect data from 200 students. The questionnaire asked about their experiences with sexual anxiety and way it affected their lives. When it comes to pre-marital sexual anxiety in young adults, Pearson's product-moment correlation was used to evaluate the correlations between self esteem, body image, and sexual aversion. In relation to these factors there was a stronger link between low sexual self-esteem and high levels of Sexual Aversion. These findings show that sexual self-esteem is linked to sexual aversion in a non-direct manner. Sexual aversion and body image are negatively correlated in the second correlation. Beneficial body image has a positive effect on sexual self-esteem in young people. Research evaluated that negative body image grows sexual aversion and develops low sexual esteem and in conclusion this relation causes sexual anxiety. The research concluded that there is a big variation in sexual anxiety between men and women. Females experience greater sexual anxiety than males. The reasons include myths about sex like pain and bleeding experiences, sexual transmitted diseases, child trauma, harassment, unsatisfying body needs and many more like low sexual esteem.

Exploring subjective positive experiences of single mothers through perma and thought-action repertoire
    (UMT.Lahore, 2022) AMBER SHAHEEN
Positive psychology is known to be a flourished field in psychology that mainly focuses on the positive and bright aspects of the life. Positive psychology is the scientific study of positive experiences, positive individual traits as well as the institutions that help in facilitating their development. Positive psychology constitutes a pleasant, meaningful, and engaged life. (Seligman, 1998) This field of positive psychology is concerned with well-being optimal functioning and well-being. It lines up to broaden the focus of clinical psychology beyond suffering. The current qualitative study aimed to explore the subjective experiences of single mothers who intentionally or unintentionally seek help from psychological terms such as positive emotions, PERMA, or broaden-and-built theory. In single parenthood, the well-being of the parent is as important as of the children. This interview-based research played a part in finding about the bright side of single-parent motherhood. Moreover, this study tried to help the mothers who are relatively more stressed about their lives and raising their children. Single mothers were recruited for semi-structured interviews and were debriefed about the study and its purpose. Aim was to explore two models, PERMA (Seligman, 2011) and Broaden-and-built (Fredrickson, 1998) in the lives of single mothers. To analyze the coded data, thematic analysis was used and applied. The findings suggested that single mothers seek help from the applications of these models without acknowledging it and the importance of the concepts such as positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and accomplishment was also determined. Moreover, terms like positive emotions were widely used by single mothers and according to them, have helped them a lot. This study might play a part in future similar research and provide a pathway. Furthermore, more single mothers can seek help from similar positive concepts to cope and handle things effectively.
