Item Impact of job crafting intervention on psychological empowerment, work engagement and affective well-being in pharmacists and teachers(UMT Lahore, 2022) Asma MushtaqOrganizations are under a lot of pressure to survive in the ever-changing world of competition. Human resources are a critical aspect for which there is no substitute. Any organization's success is largely determined by the quality of its people resources. Job crafting is a component that can assist employees improve the positive aspects of their work while reducing the negative aspects' impact. The study's main goal is to see how a job crafting intervention affects employees' psychological empowerment, work engagement, and affective well-being. It is a quasi-experimental design including both experimental and control group. The population includes pharmacists and teachers. Job crafting intervention was provided to the employees. It consists of six core elements including three sessions and pre-post testing taking total of six-week time period. Pre testing and post-testing was done by using Job Crafting questionnaire developed by Tims et al. (2012), Psychological Empowerment Scale (Spreitzer, 1995), Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES; Schaufeli, Bakker, & Salanova, 2006) and Job-related Affective Well-being Scale, JAWS (Katwyk, Fox, Spector, & Kelloway, 2000). Repeated measure t-test was run to see the effect of job crafting intervention on job crafting, psychological empowerment, work engagement and affective well-being. The results were positive and significant. The relationship between job crafting, psychological empowerment, work engagement and affective well-being was also assessed and there was positive and significant correlation. The job crafting intervention can make it possible to activate employees’ proactive job crafting behavior and work engagement. Senior management should recognize the need of assisting and motivating staff in order to maximize their resources and meet the challenges they face.Item Parenting style, self harm tendencies and psychological wellbeing in university students(UMT Lahore, 2022) HAMNA NAVEEN; LARAIB AKRAM; ROMEENA BARNABASParenting styles and self-harm can have a great impact on an individual’s psychological well-being. Thus, this research aimed to investigate the relationship between parenting styles, self-harm tendencies and psychological wellbeing among university students. Through purposive sampling, 200 (Men = 100, Women = 100) university students were taken. The Scale of parenting styles (Arrindel et al., 1999), self-harm tendencies scale (Naeem et al., 2021), and psychological wellbeing Scale (Diener et al., 1985) were administered to participants. Correlation analysis revealed that a significant positive relationship was found between rejection parenting styles with external and internal self-harm tendencies and psychological wellbeing. Positive relationship was found of emotional warmth and over protection. While significant negative relationship was found self-harm tendencies and psychological wellbeing. A non-significant negative relationship parenting styles emotional warmth and psychological wellbeing. An independent sample t-test showed that no gender differences existed between the variables except psychological wellbeing as men scored higher on psychological wellbeing. This research is helpful in understanding the role of parenting styles, self-harm tendencies and their effect on psychological wellbeing in today’s fast paced life.Item Sex taboos, sexual satisfaction and infidelity in married men(UMT Lahore, 2022) MEHAK ARIFThe aim of the study was to explore the sex taboos, sexual satisfaction and infidelity among married men and also the mediating role of marital satisfaction. It was hypothesized that there was a likely relationship between sex taboos, sexual satisfaction and infidelity among married men. Marital satisfaction was likely to mediate the relationship between sexual satisfaction and infidelity. Mixed method approach was used for this study in which the first phase of the data was qualitative in which the indigenous scale was developed by conducting the focus group discussion. The second phase of the data was quantitative in which the psychological scales were administered. The results were gathered by running the EFA, thematic analysis and correlation analysis for finding the relationship between the variables. Findings have practical implications for the for identification of taboos by developing indigenous scale, to increase in self-esteem, reduce negative intrapersonal outcomes and decrease in mental health problems, to provide new dimensions for future researches by providing addition in new indigenous knowledge and to help in developing a sense of strong emotional connection with the spouse.Item Perceived social support, psychological morbidity, mindfulness and illness perception in cardiac patients(UMT Lahore, 2022) ANAM ARSHADThe purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between perceived social support, psychological morbidity, mindfulness and illness perception in cardiac patients. It was hypothesized that there will be a negative correlation of perceived social support with psychological morbidity and illness perception in cardiac patients. A quantitative study was carried out to conduct this research and a correlational research design was used to get required results. A non-probability purposive, sampling technique was used to select the participants from both private and government hospitals, with age range 30 – 60 years. Multidimensional scale of Perceived Social Support (Zimet,1988), General Health Questionnaire (Goldberg,1970), Mindful attention awareness scale (Ryan,2003) and Brief Illness Perception scale (Weinman etal., 1996) were the tools used in this study. A significant negative relation highlighted in social support, psychological morbidity and illness perception and a positive relation found between psychological morbidity and illness perception, whereas negative relation of mindfulness found with psychological morbidity and illness perception in cardiac patients. Psychological morbidity mediates between mindfulness and illness perception and between social support and illness perception as well. Significant gender differences were found, psychological morbidity, mindfulness and illness perception was higher in women as compared to men therefore social support was higher in men. Furthermore, study will help to understand the significance of mindfulness and social support in cardiac patients. Awareness regarding the effectives of mindfulness based cognitive therapy will be help to minimize the impact of illness perception.Item Role of grit in relation to academic resilience, perceived academic stress, and academic burnout among accountancy students(UMT Lahore, 2022) Ayesha KhanThe present study is intended to explore the role of grit in relation to academic resilience perceived academic stress and academic burnout among accountancy students. Moreover, the study examining the level of grit in terms of consistency of interest and perseverance of effort by focusing directly and indirectly on the levels of academic resilience, perceived academic stress and academic burnout. The data was collected through questionnaire survey forms from 400 among these 202 participant’s male students and 198 were female students. The participants were studying professional qualification in different schools of accountancy SKANS (CA), SKANS (ACCA), RISE, CFE, and HISAB School of accountancy respectively in Lahore aged between 19-26 years, accumulated by a non-probability purposive sampling technique specifically for accounting students. Four scales were used to collect data from participants (i) 12-Item-Grit Scale Duckworth et al., (2007), (ii) The perception of academic stress scale (Bedewy & Gabriel, 2015). (iii)Academic Resilience Scale (ARS 30) (Simon Cassidy,2015) (iv) Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (Campos et al., 2013) along with demographics. The correlation research design was used and it revealed that grit was found to have a positive correlation with academic resilience (+0.50), weak correlation with Perceived academic Stress (+0.22), and weak negative correlation with academic burnout. Gender and family types were found relevant in studying the variables such that men had advantage over women with respect to grit and academic resilience, and participants from nuclear family were observed to be grittier and academically resilient. The simple linear regression demonstrated that grit was a highly negative significant predictor of academic burnout. Education was a positive significant predictor of perceived academic stress. The grit was also a highly negative significant predictor of perceived academic stress ultimately, partial mediation was also observed of the role of academic resilience between grit and academic burnout. The present research is helpful of understanding these issues will be of immense value in developing effective counselling and resilience enhancement interventions to facilitate personal development of accountancy students in terms of developing grit and academic resilience by decreasing academic burnout and academic stress.Item Organizational culture influences saf workplace mobbing, core self-evaluations, coping strategies and employee cynicism in doctors ety culture in process safety management program(UMT Lahore, 2022) Saman ImtiazWorkplace mobbing is a serious dilemma for the present-day organizations at national and international level. It has negative consequences for the health sector as well (Petrie et al., 2021). The correlational research design was used to assess the relationship between workplace mobbing, core self-evaluation, coping strategies and employee cynicism in doctors. Through purposive sampling, 315 (Men=169, Women=146) doctors with an age range of 25 to 35 years were contacted from different areas of Punjab, Pakistan. Luxembourg Workplace Mobbing Scale (Steffgen, 2017), Core Self-Evaluation Scale (Judge et al., 2003), Brief Cope Inventory (Carver, 2000) and Employee Cynicism Scale (Abubakar, 2018) were used. Pearson Product Moment correlation, moderation, independent sample t-test analyses were applied. The results showed a strong positive correlation between employee cynicism and workplace mobbing. While significant negative relationship was found between workplace mobbing and core self evaluation. Both emotion-focused coping and problem-focused coping had significant negative relationship with workplace mobbing and employee cynicism respectively. While avoidant coping had positive relationship with workplace mobbing and employee cynicism and negative significant relationship with core self-evaluation, problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping. Core self-evaluation, problem-focused coping, emotion-focused coping and avoidant coping significantly moderated the relationship between workplace mobbing and employee cynicism. No gender differences were seen in core self-evaluation, emotion-focused coping, avoidant coping and employee cynicism. Workplace mobbing and problem-focused coping had significant gender differences. At management level, therapists and medical advisors can help doctors to minimize the negative effects of mobbing. This research is helpful for Pakistani health sector in understanding the issue of workplace mobbing and its hindrance in the progress.Item Organizational culture influences safety culture in process safety management program(UMT Lahore, 2022) Rana Dilshad AhmadProcess safety is a crucial part of process industries. Organizational Culture Influences Safety Culture in Process Safety Management Program (PSM).Worldwide Work-related diseases and injuries were responsible for the deaths of 1.9 million people in 2016, according to the first joint estimates from the World Health Organization (WHO) and International Labor Organization (ILO)(17 September 2021 Joint News Release Geneva). A fatality incident experienced by me inspired me to work for the safety of employees working in a process industry. The research was conducted to establish the role of organizational culture in formation of safety culture in process industry. Data collected through interviews of 5 employees working in different departments of Urea fertilizer manufacturing industry in Pakistan, which has adopted Dupont PSM (Process safety management program) from last 12 years. Qualitative research method and Thematic Analysis was employed to analyses the data. The finding of the data analysis indicated that the influence of organizational culture over safety culture. The culturally based elements of PSM purely defined with respect to the human behavior. Behavioral safety is one of the most important aspects of the process industry. Through study of organizational culture and safety culture, the researcher became able to suggest the interventions to change the behaviors of employees in their own favor as well as in the organizations favor by improving the organizational culture. Behavior based training curriculum prepared to help the employees to understand and reforming their behaviors.Item Gender congruence, self-concept, perceived social support and mental wellbeing among transgenders(UMT Lahore, 2022) Fahmida ShoukatThe present study investigated the moderating role of perceived social support in relationship between gender congruence and mental wellbeing, as well as mediating role of self-concept affecting the relation between gender congruence and mental wellbeing among transgender along with the relationship between all the study variables. It was hypothesized that 1) there is likely to be a positive relationship between gender congruence, self-concept, perceived social support and mental wellbeing among transgender, 2) Gender congruence, self-concept and perceived social support are likely to positively predict the mental wellbeing among transgender, 3) Perceived social support is likely to moderate the relationship between gender congruence and mental wellbeing among transgender, 4) Self concept is likely to mediate the relationship between gender congruence and mental wellbeing among transgender. Correlational research design was employed in the present study. Purposive sample of 200 transgender with an age range of 19 to 55 years (M = 29.62, SD = 7.51) were taken from different institutions working for transgender and transgender communities from Lahore and Bahawalpur. The self-constructed demographic sheet, Transgender Congruence Scale (Kozee, 2012), Self-Concept Clarity Scale (Campbell 1996), Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale (Zimet, 1988), Mental Health Continuum Scale (Keyes, 2002) was used to assess the sample. The results of Pearson Product Moment Correlation showed that significant positive relationship between gender congruence, self-concept, perceived social support and mental wellbeing among transgender. The results of the Multiple Hierarchical Regression analyses showed that self concept and perceived social support positively predicted the mental wellbeing among transgender. Further, gender congruence did not the predicted the mental wellbeing among xiii transgender. The results of the moderation analysis showed that significant positive interaction effect of support from friends as well as significant others in determining the relationship between gender identity acceptance and mental wellbeing among transgender. The result of the mediation analysis through PROCESS macro showed that self-concept positively mediated the relationship between gender congruence and mental wellbeing among transgender. The study is useful in highlighting the predictors of mental wellbeing of transgender which can be helpful in devising the strategies to maximize their mental wellbeing.Item Sociocultural attitude towards appearance, body surveillance and body shaming among young women.(UMT Lahore, 2022) Saba Iqbal; Asma AyubThe present study was aimed to investigate the relationship between Socio Cultural Attitudes towards Appearance, body surveillance and body shaming among young women. It was hypothesized that 1) there is likely to be a relationship between sociocultural attitude towards appearance, body surveillance and body shaming among young women, 2) Sociocultural attitude towards appearance and body surveillance are likely to predict body shaming in young women. The sample consist of 224 young women with the age range of 18 to 24 year (M = 22.63, SD = 2.24).The purposive sampling strategy was used .Demographic information sheet, Sociocultural attitude towards Appearance Questionnaire 4R (Schaefer & Thompson, 2016) , Body surveillance scale - (Spitzack, 1990), and Bodily Pride and Shame scale- (Troop, 2016) were used . The results of Pearson product moment correlation analysis Showed positive of the relationship socio culture attitudes towards appearance with body surveillance and body shaming among young women. The results showed that there was a positive significant relationship between social culture attitude towards appearance, body surveillance and body shaming among young women. Further Body Surveillance positively related with current weight regarding body shaming. The results indicated that Sociocultural Attitude Towards appearance and body shaming significantly positively predicted the body shaming among young women. The present study helps to aware society that how their cultural attitudes towards appearance cause negative impact on women mental health that cause low mood, stress, anxiety even eating disorders too. The study also helps women to learn that how they cope with their stress and balance their weight with positive life plans and motivation.
