Item Problems faced by parents in promoting inclusion for their children with learning disabilities(UMT, Lahore, 2017) ROHEENA MASOODTopic of the research was the study of the problem faced by parents in promoting inclusion for their children with teaming disabilities. The aim of the study was to explore the problems which parents faced when they promote inclusive education for their children with teaming disabilities. The sample of the study was taken from the parents whose children were enrolled in special schools under the judiciary of Punjab Government in Lahore city. It was descriptive study and was conducted with the help of questionnaire. The questioner was developed by the researcher and which reached the acceptable level of reliability. The main object of the study was to know about the perception and problems faced by parents in promoting inclusion. This study will help of researcher quoted in the study parents can get guidance for improvement. The data was collected by the researcher .Than it was analyzed and interpreted through SPSS.The sample consists of 47 parents whose children are enrolled in special school present in Lahore city under the judiciary of Punjab Government. Reliability statistics showed that the instrument was reliable because it was reported 0.882. One sample t test was applied to see the significant difference among the opinions of respondents and following variables age, number of children, qualification and gender. According to results researcher conclude that awareness must be spread about inclusion and policy should be made by government to implement inclusive educationItem Experiences of siblings of children with autism providing support in daily living skills(UMT, Lahore, 2017) Ms. Ammara RehmanThis study investigated the experiences reported by siblings of autistic children. Using a mixed method research, the researcher collected data from sibling of children with Autism .Sibling's age ranges from 7 to 24 years and the age of children with Autism range s from 2 to 21 years with mild to moderate impairments. The objectives of the study are, underline the types of experiences siblings of children with autism have while providing support to their brother/sister with autism. To highlight the effect of gender of siblings on their support providing behaviour. Investigate the effect of birth order of the child with autism in getting support from their siblings. To highlight the types of skills in which school and home train the chid with autism and highlight the demographic factors which influence the support providing behaviour of siblings. Major findings includes majority of siblings like to live with their brother/sister with autism due to their blood relationship ,minority 39% of siblings dislike to live due to embarrassment to have brother/sister with autism . 29% siblings provide support to their brother/sister with autism, In siblings the females provide more support to their brother/sister with autism than males . 45% of siblings trained their brother/sister with autism in self care and grooming.Item A survey of the instructional strategies used for teaching arts and drawing to students with hearing impairment at primary level(UMT, Lahore, 2017) M. Zeeshan Saif; Izza AnwerThe present study was conducted to explore the instructional strategies used for teaching arts and drawing to students with hearing impairment at primary level. The purpose of this was to explore that what kind of visual art strategies teachers used and how effective they are for hearing impaired students. For the present study researcher used quantitative approach. Researcher collected a data from 69 participants. The sample comprised of art teachers who were working in special education schools of Lahore. For the data collection researcher used a self-administered questionnaire comprised of 19 questions. After the data collection, data was analysed by using SPSS (statistical package for social sciences), version 22. However, for demographic depiction and for all question’s researcher used descriptive statistics. The outcomes generally revealed that female teachers are more prone to use effective strategies and pre prepared lessons while male teachers are better in managing classroom environment. The results of questions showed that visual art is an effective strategy for students with hearing impairment. Teachers engaged them, taught and motivate so that they can also work on their ideas.Item A study of peers perception of student with disabilities in inclusive setup at university level(UMT, Lahore, 2017) Mehwish khanThe present study intended to investigate the peer perception for student with disabilities in inclusive setup at university level. The purpose of the study was to highlight the peer perception of disable student which they perceive socially, academically and non-academically. The sample was selected by using convenient sampling technique. The sample consisted of 200 peers of disable students from different universities of Lahore. In this study perception related to peer interaction, in which way they interact with the student with disabilities, their interaction academically perceive through student-teacher interaction, and student to content interaction and student to student interaction. Also the study of social interaction at university of peers related to their friendships, trust respect, and with some non-academic staff in university. The main research questions of the study are: What barriers are being faced by teachers while including autistics children in inclusive classrooms? What are the perceptions of teachers about inclusion of autistics children in inclusive classrooms?What types of measure should be taken by the teachers for inclusion of autistics children in regular classrooms? What type of researches can be conducted in future to help teachers and administrators for inclusion of autistics children in normal classrooms? Using a mixed technique research, the researcher collected data through from teachers with autism in regular classroom. All of the teachers were male and female’s .this study was descriptive homework and availability give questionnaire to gather quantitative data. The study discovered that the teachers at work in the normal education schools have not got proper training to work with the autistics students. The study usually describe that lack of knowledge, lack of appropriate training, lack of in service training among teachers, are extremely supplementary with teachers’ observed barriers in teaching autistics children in regular classes. In addition the accessibility of school organization does not report the requirements of all student. Curriculum, equipment’s, teaching learning supports and assessment approaches also not requirement to be deliver accommodations. Principals and teachers have diverse opinions about the success of inclusive education system in schools. We recommended that government may allocate more financial and technical capitals to train teachers and afford technological tools if they want to integrate students with special needs into regular classroomsItem Challenges faced by parents in treating behavior problems of autistic children(UMT, Lahore, 2017) SABEEN SAIFThis study investigates the challenges faced by parents in treating the behavior problems of Autistic children. Using a quantitative research method, the researcher collected the data through parents of ASD children. All the children were male and female between the ages of 3- 17 years. As for pilot study, the 20 participants were selected. As for the main study, 106 parents were selected who have autistic children and facing many difficulties in treating their problems. And the selection criteria of parents of autistic probands was their child should be clinically diagnosed with autism and having a lot of behavior problems. Data was analyzed by the 6 domains of behaviors problems. The questionnaire was designed by the researcher of 53 items which are based on the behavior problems of Autism. Results indicate that the parents are facing many problems of autistic children but the behavior issue is highest issues among all issues. The social interaction is the biggest challenge for parents and family. The parents all around the world consider social interaction as a biggest challenge because it must be present in every child so he or she may be able to survive in the society. Their behavior problems are affected the life style of family and personal relationship between the parents. Mothers of autistic children suffer more behavior problems than fathers because they deal the children at home and spend more time with them. Behavior problems are more prevalent in males because 1 in 64 boys have autism and they tease more to their families. There is a correlation between the age and behavior problems of autistic children. The marital status has effect on the child behavior problems. Results shows that the child’s gender also has effect on behavioral problems. Parents are now aware of these behavior problems and trying to cope through it so their child can be a part of the society.Item A study of intervention practices for children with autism in lahore(UMT, Lahore, 2017) Sadia BilalThis study is conducted to investigate the interventionpractices being used for autism in Lahore. The objectives of the study were; identification of intervention practices being used for autism in special schools, centers and hospital providing intervention services to children with autism, at Lahore, exploring the most frequently used intervention for autism, highlighting the training needs of teachers, professional to provide the intervention effectively to children with autism. Sample of the study was selected by using purposive sampling technique, 213 teachers and professionals dealing with autism at special schools, centers and hospitals situated in Lahore. A questionnaire was developed on the basis of related literature which is comprised on 28 close-ended items and two open-ended questions. The researchers collected data from special schools, centers and hospitals from public and private sectors. The data was analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). It was concluded that professionals are providing intervention to children with autism by using eclectic approach.Item Perception of parents about effectiveness of school at primary level(UMT, Lahore, 2017) IQRA RANG ELAHIThe purpose of this research was to investigate and identify the effectiveness of the school as perceived parents of students enrolled in primary school. The characteristics of school effectiveness include professional leadership, sheared vision and goals, safe and orderly atmosphere, focusing on teaching training, high expectations for students, positive reinforcement, pupil right and responsibilities, home- school partnership, established staff development. This was a quantitative research and used survey design. Sample was comprised of 110parents of students enrolled in semi government school of Lahore. Descriptive statistics was used to analyses the data. The school was prevised as effective by the parents in all respect except that school should invite parent input for developing school policies.Item A comparative study of leadership styles of male and female head teachers at secondary school level in public and private school in lahore(UMT, Lahore, 2017) NAJUM UN NISAThe purpose of the study was to compare the leadership styles of male and female secondary school head teachers in public and private schools in Lahore. For this purpose, ten public and ten private schools, in Lahore, were selected as a sample. All the teaching staff of the schools was taken as sample and they rated their head teachers regarding leadership styles. The total sample is comprised of 160secondary school teachers. Quantitative research method was employed to carry out the study. For comparison, The Leadership Behaviour Description Questionnaire was adopted. The questionnaire comprised thirty restricted response items and analysed on the basis of five points Likert type scale. To reach certain conclusion, along with the basic descriptive statistics t-test was applied for comparison. It was found from the study that: Over all, there was insignificant difference in the male and female leadership style and there was no significant difference in the leadership styles of head teachers on “initiation and consideration dimension” in public and private schools of Lahore.Item Perception of hearing impaired students about their university fellows in inclusive environment(UMT, Lahore, 2017) Snober BukhariThis study is concerned with the Perception of hearing impaired students about their university fellows in inclusive environment. This study especially considered the interpersonal relationship of hearing impaired students in inclusive universities with their typical peers and fellows. In this study, convenient sampling method was used. The survey method was used in this study to get the data from respondents. Data collected from three inclusive universities in Lahore, which included University of the Punjab, Lahore, University of Management and Technology, Lahore and National College of Arts, Lahore. A sample of study consists of Fifty-seven (57) hearing impaired students both male and female. SPSS (Statistical package for social sciences) software utilize in this study. Frequency distribution of demographic information and respondents, ANOVA, and Independent sample t-test was utilized to analyze the data in addition to view the perception of respondents. The Result of the study shows that the majority of hearing impaired students was studying at University of Management and Technology, Lahore and most of the students were male and enrolled in BS program and students with hearing impairment involved in different activities like group task, sports, and games, learn same lecture, present presentation, assignment as their typical peers. Hearing impaired enjoyed the pair group study and other social activities with their hearing peers understand their language even interpreter is not present also learn their language to communicate with them and help them to operate computer, to ask questions about their study, making assignment and resolve conflicts about their studies and behave positively inside and outside the classroom, feel comfortable to introduce them with others university fellows. Hearing peers make them down in studies and their existence is disruptive in the classroom, they avoid to communicating with them, hearing impaired feel isolated in the classroom in the presence of typical peers. The independent sample t-test and ANOVA test show that there is no significant difference between the perception of hearing impairment students male and female respondent on the basis of their degree program and also shows that there is no significant difference between the perceptions of the students with hearing impairment studying in different universities in Lahore.Item Effects of electronic media on the development of adaptive behavior in children with mental retardation(UMT, Lahore, 2017) MAIMONA IJAZThis study is specifically concerned with the effects of electronic media on the development of adaptive behavior in children with mental retardation. The objectives of the study are for identification of the most common type of electronic media among children with MR, number of hours spend by the MR children on electronic media, influence of electronic media on children’s adaptive behavior.It was a descriptive study. The population of the study includes the students of 5 schools of children with mental retardation in Lahore city. From the population the total sample consisted of 161 students were drawn. The instrument was developed on the basis of the hypothetical framework by the researcher herself, and translated in Urdu.Cronbach’s Alpha value of the instrument was .97 which means that the instrument was reliable. It was concluded on the basis of research that the TV and video game are most common types of electronic media among MRC and cartoon are watched by most of MRC than any other programs.The results also show Doraemonis the most watched cartoons on the TV by the children and most of MRC play Car Racing video games. It is concluded that most of the MRC watch TV, watch cartoons and play video games for one to two hours. The study further indicates that there is a significant difference in the mean values of adaptive behavior and TV programs watch by MRC. (df = 2, F = 7.223, Sig. = .001).As we find in this study that the most common type of electronic media access by the MRC is TV(99.4%) so it has an effect on the adaptive behavior of the MRC.Item Perception of principals about parental involvement in elementary schools of lahore(UMT, Lahore, 2017) Muhammad NasirThe purpose of this study was to investigate perception of elementary private school principals about involvement of parents in school. This quantitative research used survey to collect data through questionnaire. The questionnaire was developed by the researcher and pilot tested prior to collect data from sample. Sample of the study was comprised 70 principals of elementary schools situated in Wahgha Town of the Lahore district. 54 out of 70 principals returned completely filled questionnaire yielding response rate of 77%. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze the data. The principals have shown high agreement on that parent school partnership has a positive effect on student grades and that parents were welcomed in school. Contrary to this more than half of the school principals agreed that certain barriers prohibited this involvement like working parents, teachers don’t want to involve parents, socio- economic status of parents, parents don’t know how to involve with schools, and parents don’t desire to see principal and low involvement at elementary level as compared to primary level.
