Nearly 45% of the total population of Pakistan is under the age of eighteen years (UNICEF, 2023), out of which around 15% are those with disabilities, according to global prevalence (WHO, 2011). There is a strong link which exists between victimization and disability among children (Rand & Harrell, 2009) and so there is a need to protect all children, especially those at risk from harm. While Pakistan is signatory to various international commitments, is taking part in various global initiatives to combat violence against children and is working towards developing stronger national and provincial child protection mechanisms, there is a need to focus on improving or/ and developing school-based child protection systems (Naeem, 2020).Item DEVELOPMENT OF AN INDIGENOUS PLAN FOR EARLY DETECTION AND INTERVENTION OF DISABILITY(UMT, Lahore, 2024) SIDRA YASMEENHaving a disability from childhood can have a lifelong impact on an individual person’s mental, emotional and physical wellbeing, as well as their social situation. Children having any form of disability, may have special needs regarding physical capacity, health and education. Because of this, they often need to negotiate significant emotional, social and environmental barriers just to be able to engage in everyday life. Early Intervention is a set of services & enabling support that is designed for the development needs of the family & the individual child affected with delay or disability and within the age bracket of 0-5 years. Early intervention services are contextually unique i.e. They are unique in terms of underpinning philosophies of the people, their culture, local policy & legislation. These could be any number of services i.e., education, health communication, social, emotional and developmental. Aim of the study is to develop an indigenous plan for early detection and intervention of disability, in Pakistan.Item Development of Prevocational Program for Persons with Mild Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities(UMT, Lahore, 2024) RAZIA SULTANAThe purpose of present PhD research was to develop a prevocational program for student with Mild Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (MIDDs). Prevocational education is mainly designed to introduce participants to the world of work and to prepare them for entry into further vocational or technical programs. Successful completion of such programs leads to a labor-market relevant vocational or technical qualification (OECD, 2002). Students with MIDDs are more likely to be unemployed and generally earn less and are deprived from social and economic development. To propose a prevocational program, a need assessment of the current provision of prevocational skills was conducted by using two self-developed structured survey instruments with five points multiple directional Likert scale for parents and teachers of the children with MIDDs. Philosophical research paradigm of existing study was quantitative.Item Development of Resource Guide for the Use of Augmentative Alternative Communication Devices for Special Educators of Students with Communication Needs(UMT, Lahore, 2024) Atqia QureshiCommunication is the ability to communicate with others and empower all persons with communication needs to deal with all affairs of their lives effectively. People with delayed developmental growth frequently encounter difficulties related to speech and language impairment. Unusual and challenging behaviours exist in most of these children as a means of expressing their desires and needs. These devices are instrumental tools planned to help people with communication needs express themselves effectively. These devices play a crucial role in supporting people who may face challenges with speech or language, either temporarily or permanently. The development of the resource guide consisted of six phases. Phase-1 preparation of list of contents of the resource guide, phase-2 selection of topics to be included in the resource guide, phase-3 organization of contents of resource guide and preparation of draft guide, phase-4 try-out of the guide on special education teachers for appropriateness and accuracy of language. Phase-5 validation, and finalization of the resource guide.Item Effect of Leaders’ Behavior on Faculty Performance at University Level in Pakistan(UMT, Lahore, 2024) Humera NawazThe main purpose of the study is to examine the effect of leaders’ behavior on faculty performance. Curriculum designers often give curriculum implementation CI in the form of documents that include instructional suggestions, scripts, lesson plans, and evaluation options linked to a set of goals. Instead of teaching to the test, a new approach to curriculum implementation emphasizes flexibility and invention. Skills are a fundamental need for children's future success. Education must transform for students to succeed as future innovators. Almost every country prepares a curriculum document with sophisticated design with the help of experts to achieve their goals; moreover, these goals have been converted into global demand and sustainability of the planet as Education for All (EFA) goals for the elimination of poverty from this planet through education.Item NEED ASSESSMENT FOR INTEGRATING INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) IN TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS OF STUDENTS WITH HEARING IMPAIRMENT(UMT, Lahore, 2024) QURATULAIN RIZVI
