Abstract
Having a disability from childhood can have a lifelong impact on an individual person’s mental, emotional and physical wellbeing, as well as their social situation. Children having any form of disability, may have special needs regarding physical capacity, health and education. Because of this, they often need to negotiate significant emotional, social and environmental barriers just to be able to engage in everyday life. Early Intervention is a set of services & enabling support that is designed for the development needs of the family & the individual child affected with delay or disability and within the age bracket of 0-5 years. Early intervention services are contextually unique i.e. They are unique in terms of underpinning philosophies of the people, their culture, local policy & legislation. These could be any number of services i.e., education, health communication, social, emotional and developmental. Aim of the study is to develop an indigenous plan for early detection and intervention of disability, in Pakistan.
