Item A Comparative Study of Service Quality and Student Satisfaction of Public and Private sector Business Schools of Lahore(UMT.Lahore, 2016) ASAD MOHI-UD-DINMajor intention of this research thesis was to study the influence of service quality on satisfaction of students in business schools of Lahore, Pakistan. Second aim of this research was to check the difference between satisfaction level of students among public sector university student and private universities students. To fulfill these objectives this research use quantitative research strategy, in which data was collected through self-administrative questionnaire. After going through the cleaning process, data was analyzed by using statistical techniques, i.e. regression, mean comparison, etc. Research model was found significant as the significance value is lesser than .05 and it has ability to predict the students satisfaction. R2 is 0.51 which shows that 51 % of the variation in student satisfaction is being explained by this model. Academic and non-academic aspects of service quality in higher education were identified as important quality indicators. Academic aspects like teacher’s expertise and their interest in their subject also influence the satisfaction of student. Interestingly the results of this research are bit clashing with the theoretical perspective. Non academic aspect of the service quality got the lowest score, which means students are least concerned with the administrative staff’s support. Access to resource persona and the resources got the highest score. Non-Academic Aspect of service quality got the lowest score that is .476 it indicates that students are least concerned with administrative staff support. Followed by the academic aspect of the service quality that have positive relationship student satisfaction and it is explaining almost 94%. That show students are concerned with what they are being taught in classes.Item A study of Most Important Determinant of Job Performance(UMT.Lahore, 2013-02) Zeeshan HassanJob Performance is a widely spread phenomenon in organizational context. There are many studies that have conducted on measuring job performance that widening the literature circle of human resource management. This study mainly focused on exploration of supervisor’s perceived job performance in the field of construction. There are mainly 19 different supervisor’s skills found from literature those have impact on perceived job performance. Current study primarily seeks the most relevant job skills of construction supervisor among the literature skills. For this purpose interview of construction managers conducted who are working under Pakistan Engineering Council registered companies. A pilot study was conducted to establish internal consistency of the tailor made questionnaire. Population for the current study was construction supervisors working under Pakistan Engineering Council construction companies. Questionnaires were sent to 300 supervisors in 40 different construction organizations and after scrutiny data received from 25 organizations was found correct. According to theoretical model designed for this particular study 19 literature job skills was condensed through interview into 9 job skills of construction supervisors. Factor analysis as statistical technique used for finding out the important factors. The results obtained show that communication skill among team member is most important skill for construction supervisor. Whereas decision making skill remain important at second, creativity and political skills are important for construction supervisor at number three and four respectively. It is found that there are other ways of measuring job performance i.e. role based job performance which is one of the main limitation of the study. It is recommended to perform the same study on role based job performance to highlight the most important job role of construction supervisors.Item A study of relationship between Knowledge Management Enablers, Process and Organization Performance(UMT, Lahore, 2012) Ahmer NaveedThe concept of knowledge management hasbeenthe buzzwordfromlast two decades in the academic literature. Manyleading practitioners and researchers have written about the enabling factors and processes of Knowledge management. There is need to understand in such a dynamic business environmentthe relationship between knowledge management enablers, processes and their effect on organizational performance. In this thesis relationship between knowledge management enablers, processes and organizational performance is investigated in the context of banking sector in Pakistan. Because due to difference in conditions such as demographics, the effects of relationship of different components of knowledge management may be altered and might not be as significant as it is encountered in some other parts of the world. Knowledge management enablers are the spirit of Knowledge management. Knowledge management enablers are the persuading factors or mechanism through which knowledge foster inside the company. While knowledge processes are meant for assembling, sharing and extending of knowledge within the company. It was found that culture of learning; trust and formalized structure have a significance relation with knowledge process. Similarly it was also found that externalization; combination and internalization conversion modes of knowledge process have significant relation with organization creativity. However collaborative culture and centralized structure hypothesis were not supported in this particular population. Also socialization conversion mode of knowledge process was found to behaving a negative relation with organization creativity in the banking environment of Pakistan.Item Adjusting to the new normal, post-pandemic recovery challenges & its management through contemporary remedies in the air cargo industry of Pakistan(UMT,Lahore, 2023-12-05) Syed Muhammad Ali RazaThis MS-level research project explores the complex terrain of air cargo management, aiming to comprehend and devise strategies through a dynamic capability framework for its adaptation in the face of the diverse problems presented by the worldwide pandemic and other influencing variables. The interviews were transcribed with great attention to detail and then analyzed using NVIVO 14Item An Analysis of Customer Loyalty, Customer Satisfaction with Service Quality and Advertising in the Telecom Sector of Pakistan.(UMT.Lahore, 2019) Bisma AsifThis study aimed at analyzing the effect of service quality and advertising on customer loyalty through customer satisfaction in mobile telecom sector of Pakistan. Customer satisfaction is the factor which is considered as an upshot of better service quality and as a result it urges the customers to continue to use the services which create greater loyalty towards of same service provider. So customer satisfaction is taken as mediating variable in this study. Together with service quality, advertising is considered as another variable that influences the customer to use the services of specific service provider. 215 questionnaires were collected from current mobile users in Lahore, for this research study. Correlation and regression analysis were used to scrutinize the data. The result of the hypotheses testing signified that service quality and advertising has a positive impact on customer loyalty which is mediated by customer satisfaction. The findings of this research study is not only adding knowledge to expand the understanding of service quality and advertising in the field of mobile telecom sector, but also yielding a number of practical implications for mobile users. The major aim of the research was to find out the mediating role of job satisfaction between High Performance Work Systems (HPWS) and employee loyalty in banking industry of Lahore, Pakistan. The researcher uses social exchange theory (SET) to support the relationship between high performance work systems and employee loyalty and job satisfaction. The researcher adopts quantitative research method and survey based study is used as a research strategy. The researcher uses a questionnaire as a research tool to collect the data for the research. The targeted population of the study are middle and upper level officers of the banking sector in Lahore, Pakistan. A sample size of 260 is selected and 260 questionnaires are circulated among the employees of different banks of Lahore, Pakistan. SPSS 21.0 is used to conduct the analysis of the data. The tests include descriptive analysis, reliability analysis, factor analysis, regression analysis and mediation analysis. After surveying the employees of the banks, the research shows the casual yet significant positive relationship between High Performance Work Systems (HPWS), employee loyalty and job satisfaction. Research helped banks to devise strategies to improve employee loyalty towards banks. Research also suggested that asking about employee’s opinion creates a sense of belonging towards the organization resulting in creation of Loyalty, employees should be engaged in job environment instead of just imposing orders on them they should be involved in the betterment of the organization.Item An employee’s perception of fairness and extra-role job behaviors while understanding the role of embeddedness(UMT,Lahore, 2020) Rana Ali HamidUsing conservation of resource (COR) theory ambit, this study argue that organizational justice impacts employee extra-role job behaviors by embedding an employee in the organization. In order to study the aforementioned relationships, we have used a sample of 195 individuals working in various industries in Pakistan. Our results shows that organizational embeddedness intervenes the relationship among dimensions of organization justice and employee extra-role job behaviors. Furthermore, practical implication, suggestions and some areas for future researchers are also discussed.Item Beneficiary Assessment Based Evaluation of SME Policy of Pakistan(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Ali SadiqThe study undertook first ever evaluation of SME Policy of Pakistan. The objective of study was to evaluate policy, with perspective of its beneficiaries, and draw lessons for further improvements. SME sector is bedrock of Pakistan’s economy. They contribute 40% to GDP and provide 78% non-agriculture jobs in far flung areas of the country. In 2007, first ever SME Policy was launched by the Government of Pakistan. The Policy furnished SME development vision, scope, objectives, thematic areas and principals for SME lead growth of Pakistan. Policy guidelines for thematic areas, including Access of Finance, SME Definition, Business Environment, Supporting HRD, Technology Up-Gradation and Marketing, and Entrepreneurship Development were laid down. The Policy also underscored importance of regular Monitoring and Evaluation, yet neither monitoring mechanism of policy has been established nor has any policy evaluation exercise been conducted so far. In this background, the present study undertook beneficiary based evaluation of SME Policy of Pakistan. It has been observed that often voices of beneficiaries are overlooked by bureaucracy and powerful institutions of state, such as State Bank of Pakistan. Beneficiary based evaluation is therefore considered one of the most important approaches for policy evaluation. For the present study, qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews of representatives of 09 associations of high growth SME sectors. Data analysis was done through NVivo software for coding data, developing mind maps and project maps. The construct civilization which transcends national, cultural and societal boundaries is not used in indigenization of organization theory. This thesis employs civilization as a theoretical construct to study and analyze organization theory of Western civilization. The analysis is undertaken by using discourse approach. Two parallel discourses, historical and organizational, are constructed for the Western civilization. The historical discourse presents the major thoughts and ideas of the civilization. The organizational discourse shows the impact of historical discourse on organization theory of the civilization. The historico-organizational discourse of civilization is used to construct the reflexive relation between civilization and organization theory. Three elements research model is used for conducting this study. The epistemology of constructionism and theoretical perspective of interpretivism is used to formulate discourses of the Western civilization. The discourse analyses are followed by a discussion on the reflexive relation between civilization and organization theory, grounding of civilization in the contemporary organizational theories, rational of positioning civilization as an organizational epistemology, concluding remarks, major future research implications and basic limitations of the study. A four-tiered conceptual framework is represented to posit civilization as an episteme for organization theory.Item Combined Effect of Justice Perceptions and Gender on Employees’ Job Satisfaction and Performance(UMT.Lahore, 2018-08) Syeda Anam ImranThe purpose of this research to see the relationship among justice, gender, job performance and job satisfaction in the different industries of Pakistan. Heterogeneous data was collected to generalize the results. This study also sought to observe the moderating effect of gender on the relationship between justice and job performance and job satisfaction. Relationships have checked with three dimensions of justice. Research design was explanatory. Study was cross sectional followed a sample of 200 using convenience based sampling. Findings showed that distributive, procedural and interaction justice positively predicts employee job satisfaction but no association was found among distributive and procedural justice with job performance. Results also revealed that moderation of gender has partially accepted with perception of procedural justice and job performance. This study highlights the importance of perception of justice for both the genders and helpful for the management while making policies regarding procedural justice.Item Combined effects of Shared Leadership and firm’s Dynamic Capabilities on Team Performance and Team Innovative Behavior(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Syed Hassan AskariThe research investigated the main effects of shared leadership model and firm’s dynamic capabilities in improving the possible team outcomes (e.g. team performance and team innovative behavior). Survey was conducted in textile and IT sector of Lahore, Pakistan and findings supported the proposed arguments and confirmed that shared leadership is an effective approach to improve team performance and team innovative behavior. Firm’s dynamic capabilities also found to have significant impact on team performance and team innovative behavior. Additionally, the study examined whether firm’s Dynamic capabilities play moderating role in improving the impact of shared leadership on team performance and team innovative behavior. Empirical findings confirmed moderating role of dynamic capabilities in the relationship of shared leadership and team performance. However, the study couldn’t find the moderating role of dynamic capabilities in relationship of shared leadership and team innovative behavior. After empirical findings and analysis, theoretical and practical implications are provided for academia and corporate sectors at the end.Item CONSCIOUSNESS DIALECTICAL DEHUMANIZATION AND COMPACTION OF ORGANIZATIONAL IMAGES(UMT, Lahore, 2022-12-22) RABIA SHAHZADThis study has coined four metaphors to depict organizational dehumanize and oppressive dialect. The rationale is to compact Gareth Morgan’s eight organizational images inside four novel metaphors. Moreover modernism, interpretive and post modernism slants of organizational theory are attempted to link with proposed four metaphors. Consciousness dialectical development literature of Hegel; Karl Marx; Antonio Gramsci; Jurgen Habermas; Michel Foucault and Paulo Freire thesis is the matchless currency of our research. From Hegel to Freire conscious dialect is attached with Gareth Morgan’s metaphors first. Such amalgamation is then packed in metaphors of this study. The impetus of this theoretical research is to propose dialogical reflectivity revolution for such dehumanize and oppressive system. This research dispenses twin models in management and organizational literature to decolonize oppressed identity. Decolonization of consciousness banking accounts (DCBA) is the main model of this study, whereas components of naming the conscious model are packed inside DCBA layers. The term Justice has been of great interest and discussed in philosophy, theology and political science throughout the history but its ultimate goal is to keep harmony and peace by maximizing of welfare across all interrelated individuals. Researchers have argued that organizational justice always affect in stimulating or shaping employees’ behaviors or attitudes towards organizations and their immediate supervisors. This can either be positive or negative depending upon the experiences of the employees in absence or presence of justice perceptions. The primary focus of the current study is to investigate the direct relationship of justice dimensions with different employees’ behaviors and attitudes at workplaces in the Pakistani context. This study has included one employees’ behavior and two attitudes (OCBI, job satisfaction, & affective commitment respectively) as moderators based on their correlation with specific justice dimensions (distributive justice, procedural justice, and interactional justice) as found in two recent Meta analytic studies conducted in the area of organizational justice. Each moderator has strong correlation with one specific justice dimension than other two dimensions. The second purpose of the study is to find out how employees’ attitudes and behavior (job satisfaction, affective commitment and OCBI) moderate the relationship between organizational justice dimensions and workplace outcomes (performance and turnover intentions). Data was gathered from 350 employees of Telecom sector of Pakistan by administering self-reported questionnaires. Total eight hypotheses were proposed in the current study. Five hypotheses were regarding exploring main affects on the outcomes and three were regarding to explore the moderated ii effects of justice dimensions on outcomes. All hypotheses got empirical support from the data except first hypothesis which got partial support. The findings showed that job satisfaction, affective commitment and OCBI moderated the relationship between justice dimensions and workplace outcomes. This study explored the importance of fairness perceptions in understanding the development of employees’ behaviors and attitudes and how these behaviors and attitudes affect employees’ job performance and turnover intentions at workplace ultimately.Item Does turnover intention of telecom professionals are intervened by Workplace whining behavior? A social exchange perspective.(UMT.Lahore, 2020-08) KHIZRA TANVEERThe study was aimed to examine the sequential mediation of felt violation and workplace whining behavior in the relationship between psychological contract breach and intentions to leave. The questions regarding employee’s whining upon being breached were aimed to be answered by the research. Data was collected from 260 telecom employees in an organizational setting. Whereas data was collected through time lagged design where at time 1 employees’ responded about their psychological breach, felt violation and intentions to leave while at time 2 their respected supervisors’ rated their whining behavior. Process Hayes model 4 and 6 were used for statistical analysis. The results depicted full sequential mediation while revealing the fact that whining always needs a notion to happen it cannot mediate alone. Additionally it explained the fact that employees in telecom sector of Pakistan are not directly indulged in intentions to leave in fact they vent their frustrations and felt violations by whining in order to see the “what if” scenario as they are aware of job saturation in market. Results highlight the importance of complaint registration systems and smart HR systems that can investigate the trueness of breach. Additional results, implications, limitations, and future research are also discussed.
