The ongoing urbanization process is reducing city biodiversity and the demand for biodiversity in our local area. Humans are abusing nature. They have been doing this for a long time and are unaware of the harm they have caused. Humans tend to focus exclusively on themselves and their immediate environment, ignoring a significant portion of their surroundings that is hidden from view—that is, other people and animals as well as nature. The purpose of this research paper is to educate readers about the current state of stray animal existence, animal abuse, and cruelty, as well as their responsibilities to other living things. This research aims to investigate the medical facility that treats stray animals that are saved from fatal diseases and accidents. Providing rescued animals with natural settings is a top priority in the shelter design. The initiative aims to reduce confinement and enhance well-being by implementing aspects that replicate their natural habitat (e.g., open areas, greenery, enrichment features). With the right care and rehabilitation, this method makes it possible for qualifying animals to be returned to their native environment. This study is restricted to the particular class of animals, which includes cats, dogs and donkeys. By combining a biogas plant with a stray animal rescue facility, this initiative offers a novel approach to animal care. By using the organic waste from the shelter to create renewable energy, the biogas plant would support environmental sustainability and self-sufficiency. As architects, we design spaces to maximize comfort and actively work toward sustainability for a better future. Neglecting animal habitat results in a sustainability gap since human-centric development should not be the world's exclusive priority. Therefore, it is the duty of an architect to use architecture to foster human-human interaction.Item Archaeological research center(UMT, Lahore, 2025) Amna imranThe Archaeological Research Centre at Taxila is envisioned as a dedicated facility for the study, preservation, and promotion of Pakistan’s rich cultural and historical heritage. This project aspires to fill the existing gaps in heritage infrastructure and provide a model for future archaeological institutions in the region.Item ARTECH Institute for SEN Children(UMT, Lahore, 2017) Arslan AkhterIt is a lonely existence to be a child with a disability which no-one can see or understand, you exasperate your teachers, you disappoint your parents, and worst of all you know that you are not just stupid.” –Susan Hampshire The straight fact is that the physically and mentally disabled in Pakistan do not receive the support that would be common in a society sensitive and compassionate towards their disabled citizens. They are heckled, disrespect and pointed out as different by the population at large. Furthermore our public infrastructure does not incorporate suitable design features to aid the disabled in the public realm thus leaving them at the mercy of difficulties beyond those they are already facing. Worst of all, disabled children suffer greatly in their education due to inadequate facilities, incompetent teachers, deficient teaching methodologies and severely lacking awareness schemes for the general public. It is of utmost importance to address issues regarding the education of special children, not only for the children themselves but the ensure a healthy society and a sustainable economy. Reports by the World Bank, UNDP (United Nations Development Program) and UNICEF )United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund) point towards the long term unsustainability of economic growth, unless strategic shifts are instituted to improve social sector performance. At the helm of their efforts is to establish and institute which will serve as the crown jewel of their efforts to counter the challenge of special children education. To provide these children with all the educational & training facilities to enhance their capabilities and rehabilitate them in the society.” Furthermore, it will set the precedent for the design of public infrastructure, which facilitates the disabled in the public realm. The project will be comprised of main school building, college facility, administration block, health center, hostel for children and staff members playing areas, training center etcItem AWAZ-E-KHAWATEEN WOMEN SHELTER FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SURVIVORS(UMT, Lahore, 2024) Rameesha JavidThis research thesis inquire that how women shelters helps the women in need, the shelter not only provide safety but also helping them in long term support. Unemployment is the major challenge Pakistan has been facing in its development. Millions of unemployed youths especially from rural and less developed areas who could not get higher education or professional skills but are willing to find some respectable jobs are driven to despair for not finding a suitable job. Hence, these frustrated youngsters got attracted towards antisocial activities for their livelihood. On the contrary, women's education is also an issue in rural areas and there are many debates surrounding that. UMER ATHARLahore being one of the largest cities of Pakistan, has emerged to be the cultural capital of Pakistan and also the capital of gross food-enthusiasm of the country. Still, it has constraints when it comes to the culinary training of staff and particularly the operation of the culturally iconic establishments. At present, only two to three institutes exist in this field and numerous restaurants are ill-managed, lack proper sitting arrangements, and problems related to parking, etc., arise due to the urban settings. These shortcomings are unfilled by current facilities such as universities and colleges; thus, institutions like the Culinary Symphony Institute and Cultural Nexus should be established. This futuristic complex features an institute structure to improve the progression of the culinary industry, a food court structure to address the culinary issues in Lahore and representing the city’s diverse eating culture, and a student entrepreneurial structure where culinary graduates can start up their own businesses. Hence, this project which merges education, cultural cultivation, and business promotion seeks to revolutionize Lahore’s culinary market for the betterment and progress.Item CULTURAL CENTRE, SKARDU(UMT, Lahore, 2024) Saifullah SadiqThis thesis project explores the beautiful landscape of Pakistan's Skardu region and discusses the cultural center that represents the harmony between cultural preservation and environmental sustainability. Westernization is so vastly adopted that we have forgotten our own knowledge about our own culture and language. The traditional role of library is faded these days. The importance of physical learning, reading, practice and discussions is getting lost because everyone is getting easy and quick access to the books. People are preferring to download and read books online rather than going to libraries in search of reading and learning. Libraries need to be transformed into a complex of learning which not only revolves around conventional reading culture, but also as a communication and discussion space where there is a freedom of expressing different views, information, knowledge and ideas. Apart from developing e-libraries, libraries should emphasize the traditional and physical reading and learning resources and also provide an architecture and ambiance which is close to their own local culture and language.Item D.G KHAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT(UMT, Lahore, 2024) HADIA AMJADDera Ghazi Khan, often referred to as D.G Khan, is a city in the southwestern region of Punjab, Pakistan, serving as the administrative capital of the Dera Ismail Khan district. It ranks as the 19th most populous city in Pakistan. The city is administratively divided into seven Union Councils under the Dera Ghazi Khan Municipal Corporation. Positioned to the west of the Indus River, it functions as the central hub for both the Dera Ghazi Khan District and Division. I am proposing the development of a new international airport at the current airport site in Dera Ghazi Khan, located approximately 15 km (9.3 mi) from the city center on Airport Rd. However, the existing airport is not operational and is only used in emergencies.Item DEPENDENCY TO INDEPENDENCY(UMT, Lahore, 2017) NIHAL IRUMGod has created us to serve others not to divide within ourselves. The needy ones suffer every single day without any delay, they are being shunned by the society, they are tortured mentally and physically without any fear. Therefore there is dismal need to create a platform which could serve them with shelter, food and a much better way of style. The most important thing is that the percentage of poor people is increasing day by day instead of getting decreased. Due to which our country is suffering so much and it is not touching skyline of success and achievements the way it should. The government is not playing its role infact it is not even providing its rights to them as promised. The non-governmental organizations which are working for the rights of needy are not working actively, and if they are working they can’t afford that much. From a list of those NGO’s the only charitable trust which is working round the clock irrespective of cast color and creed is, Edhi foundation which serves the humanity in its pure form. Therefore I am planning to provide a platform which will act as a catalyst to serve the humanity. This platform will be provided through Edhi foundation which will provide shelter, food and a better lifestyle to the people which are in dismal need of help. This platform will not only help them but will also educate them and make them to contribute in the society as well. The goal of this project is to set an example and demonstrate how, even with those difficulties, adolescents can be reinserted back into society successfully, leaving their gloomy past behindItem Development of Dry port IOET Integrated E Commerce Hub in Sheikhupura(UMT, Lahore, 2025) FASIH ABBAS
