Item Impact of reward system on the behaviour of children with autism spectrum disorder(UMT, Lahore, 2022) Ayesha Rashid; Fatima AsimItem Perception of teachers about the vocational training facilities and services for students with hearing impairment(UMT, Lahore, 2022) MOMINA IRSHAD; MAHUM SHAHZADThe purpose of this study is to know about the perception of teachers about vocational training facilities and services for students with hearing impairment. Vocational trainings are essential component for students with hearing impairment. Students can use these vocational trainings programmes to explore various career options and prepare for industry specific work or additional study. Different institutes provide different facilities and services in vocational trainings. It is important to find out the perception of teachers about the facilities and services provided by their institute. In this quantitative research, the descriptive methodology was used. A self-made questionnaire was developed to find out the perception of teachers about the vocational training facilities and services for students with hearing impairment. Population of this research was all the teachers of students with hearing impairment. Convenient sampling technique was used to select the sample from the institutes for students with hearing impairment to collect the data. Then collected data was analysed by using statistical and inferential data analysis techniques. Majority of the teacher’s has good perception towards the vocational trainings for the students with hearing impairment offered by their institute.Item Hearing assessment facilities available in public and private sector hospitals in lahore(UMT, Lahore, 2022) Seemal Sohail; Sehrish NiamatThe research is conducted to analyze the availibity of Hearing Assessments in the health care sector of Lahore. The main purpose of the study is the get the actual numerical values of the intended facilities that are necessary for the hearing impaired patients, also to get the exact number of Professional and Para-professionals that are available in the 30 medical centers, hospitals and specialists institutes that deal mostly in the problems regarding hearing. The researcher personally visited 30 hospitals of public and private sectors of Lahore City to conducted the survey. The sample consisted of 30 hospitals where the survey took place and was filled by professionals like the ENT specialists and Audiologist. The thorough discussions, findings from the questionnaire and data analysis is stated at the end of the research.. All the above mentioned data is further discussed and elaborated in the thesis.Item Academic services to special needs students(UMT, Lahore, 2022) GHULAM MUJTABAThis research is to analyze academic services provided to special needs students in chitral and to find out about the services provided by the educational institution to the special needs students and also to investigate the roll of parents about their apprehensions regarding their children with disabilities. This research is also to find out that how academic services can be improved regarding the students with disabilities. The literature includes various disabilities for an instance autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability and hearing impairment including their characteristics, types and the services provided to students with such disabilities in Pakistan specifically Chitral. In methodology research is qualitative in nature. Population is parents and teachers in Chitral while the sample consisted of five parents of disabled children and five special educationists. Research instrument used was “in-depth interview” conducted in local language (khowar) and later transcribed into English and then collected data was coded and themes were generated and interpreted. The findings of the research were that there is very need of improved special education services, special education teachers, special education schools and centers and specially teacher training programs and workshops. In addition to all these there is also lack of awareness in the community, lack of research work and lack of attention from the government of Pakistan towards the children with special needs. And positive aspects are that the parents of children with disabilities accepts their disability and work for their betterment. This research will help in spreading the awareness in the locals, future researchers, parents and teachers in improving the quality of educational services for students with disabilities.Item Challenges faced by families of students with hearing impairment (HI)(UMT, Lahore, 2022) Ahmed HassanStudents with special needs always remained a challenge for their families and teachers to brought them up in a normal society and providing them quality education. Although it is a challenge that is being faced globally but countries with less facilities and less government resources, it may find more difficult for the families to tackle with these challenges. This research focuses on the families of deaf / students with HI to study the challenges they faced on day-to-day routine of their children. Study was conducted in a selected population of two districts where families and some teachers of special children were involved in study and couple of schools were also engaged to enhance the study. The target groups were the parents of students with HI, teachers of special education and some students with HI. The study revealed that parents of students with HI face multiple challenges if they want to provide their special children with quality education such as finding the right school, behavior of their children, transport facilities, children safety while they are in transit, negative attitude of community, inadequate funding and other several social issues. This study concludes that students with HI and their families are struggling to get their children the basic education. In recommendation, it is stated that government should improve and focus on financial funding to fulfill the basic needs of hearing equipment, food supply and other facilities for all students with hearing impairment. This research study will serve a baseline for the future studies to overcome the challenges faced by HI students of the country. As per World federation for the Deaf database, approximately 70 million people are considered deaf globally with 80% of these living in developing countries. This depicts major challenges STUDENTS WITH HEARING IMPAIRMENT 4 for families of HI students living in the countries where there are less facilities available for SNE (Wezzie, 2020; Simeon, 2020)Item Psychological issues faced by the siblings of children with autism spectrum disorder(UMT, Lahore, 2022) HAFIZA MAHNOOR ZAHIDThe study conducted for the stated research variables of psychological issues in Autism Spectrum Disorder was Quantitative. In addition to understanding the psychological issues faced by the siblings of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The intention was to identify the psychological issues so that future siblings dealing with children with Autism could develop better ways to overcome the psychological issues. The population of the research included siblings of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The sample size is 50 siblings from 2 Autism and Rehabilitation centers OF Lahore. The tool was self-conducted and highly reliable .732 value of Cronbach’s Alpha.Item Investigating the relationship between puberty and anxiety in children with autism spectrum disorder(UMT, Lahore, 2022) KANZA AZHARThe study conducted for the stated research variables of anxiety and puberty in Autism Spectrum Disorder was Quantitative. In addition to understanding the relationship between the two aspects formerly mentioned, this study also developed an understanding of how anxiety and puberty impact each other, taking into account both positive and negative aspects. The intention was to identify the gap between the two distinct aspects of the study so that future therapists, parents, and teachers dealing with children with autism could develop better ways of managing their behavior and psychological shaping as they mature into an adult. The population of the research included therapists having experience of more than one year, dealing with children between the ages of 10 to 15. The sample size is 64 therapists from 4 special centers of Lahore. The tool was self-constructed and highly reliable 0.832 value of Cronbach‟s Alpha. The research should allow them an insight into better coping mechanisms while dealing with anxiety that is triggered during puberty, so that a better child could emerge through those practices. Research conclusively shows that anxiety and puberty are linked to each other but are not directly linked because children with Autism have already anxiety issues.Item Use of technology for teaching students with hearing impairment at public and private schools of lahore(UMT, Lahore, 2022) TAYYAB AHMED; SAKINA NAZThis research aimed to explore the perception of student with hearing impairment about “Use of Technology for teaching students with hearing impairment at public and private schools of Lahore”. Use of Technology an important contributor for hearing impaired students to interact and learn. In this quantitative research, the descriptive methodology was used to infer the conclusion. A self-made questionnaire was developed by the researcher to explore the perception of teachers of hearing impaired students. Population of this research was the teachers of hearing impaired students, who were teachimg in public and private education program at school level to the hearing impaired students. Purposive sampling was used to select 80 for sample from private sector teachers and public teachers. After collecting the data and then it was analyzed by using descriptive as well inferential analysis by using SPSS. Response of majority teachers was positive towards the use of Technology setups. This research highlighted a new direction for improving use of Technology educational environment so that it can also be helpful for the students with mild to moderate and even full hearing impairment in developing county like Pakistan, by exploring their own perceptions.Item Investigation of social skills enhancement and academic proformance of children with autism spectrum disorder(UMT, Lahore, 2022) NOOR FATIMAThe Autism spectrum disorder is a neurological developmental disability. In this disability the children face many problems, difficulties and delays in socialization and in academic achievements. This current study is on the “Investigation of social skills enhancement and academic performance of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder”. The first chapter of this research contains research questions on the objectives of the research. This research is done for the teachers and therapists. By this research the teachers and therapists will get to kwon about the challenges of social skills enhancement and academic performance, and also get to kwon about the relationship of social skills enhancement and academic achievement of children with ASD. In next chapter, all the literature review shows that there is a deep relationship of socialization and academic performance of children with autism spectrum disorder. The co-relational quantitative research design was used in this research. The sample size was 50 teachers and therapists from 4 schools of Lahore. The tool for this research was self-constructed. This research allows future teachers and therapists an deep understanding of relationship of socialization skills and academic performance of children with autism spectrum disorder.Item Workplace issues and challenges(UMT, Lahore, 2022) MUHAMMAD HUSNAIN; AFAQ ASHFAQThe researcher intended to investigate the problems faced by hearing impaired employees in their respective workplaces. The population of the study was the hearing impaired employees working in private and government institutions. The researcher collected data from different workplaces of Lahore, researcher also managed to approach the hearing impaired employees working in other cities i.e., Multan, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur. The primary purpose of the study was to sort out the problems faced by hearing impaired employees in different workplaces and for this purpose questionnaire was generated and filled by the participants under study. On the basis of the responses the researcher figured out the problems faced by hearing impaired employees in different workplaces. The objectives of the study were to investigate the problems faced by hearing impaired workers in their respective work fields, to examine the implications of current employment trends, for those with hearing impairment, to know whether the persons with hearing impairment are satisfied with their jobs and to aware the people with hearing impairment about their job rights. The researcher had then analysed the data using SPSS with the assistance of experts and concluded the results on the basis of major findings to state recommendation.
