Abstract
Students with special needs always remained a challenge for their families and teachers to brought them up in a normal society and providing them quality education. Although it is a challenge that is being faced globally but countries with less facilities and less government resources, it may find more difficult for the families to tackle with these challenges. This research focuses on the families of deaf / students with HI to study the challenges they faced on day-to-day routine of their children. Study was conducted in a selected population of two districts where families and some teachers of special children were involved in study and couple of schools were also engaged to enhance the study. The target groups were the parents of students with HI, teachers of special education and some students with HI. The study revealed that parents of students with HI face multiple challenges if they want to provide their special children with quality education such as finding the right school, behavior of their children, transport facilities, children safety while they are in transit, negative attitude of community, inadequate funding and other several social issues. This study concludes that students with HI and their families are struggling to get their children the basic education. In recommendation, it is stated that government should improve and focus on financial funding to fulfill the basic needs of hearing equipment, food supply and other facilities for all students with hearing impairment. This research study will serve a baseline for the future studies to overcome the challenges faced by HI students of the country. As per World federation for the Deaf database, approximately 70 million people are considered deaf globally with 80% of these living in developing countries. This depicts major challenges STUDENTS WITH HEARING IMPAIRMENT 4 for families of HI students living in the countries where there are less facilities available for SNE (Wezzie, 2020; Simeon, 2020)
