The effect of video based teaching on developing listening comprehension skills of esl undergraduates

The main aim of this research was to examine the effect of video based teaching on developing listening comprehension skills of ESL undergraduates with the support of Scaffolding Language Learning approach. The researcher selected purposive sample of BS level to accomplish the aim of research. This research was predominantly experimental. This research was contextualized in Pakistani educational set up at undergraduate level. The findings of the research indicated that use of video based teaching has huge potential for developing listening comprehension skills of ESL undergraduates. Experimental group‘s post test results showed significant enhancement in their listening skills as compared to their post test scores of Control group. Participants‘ perceptions are highly optimistic and worthwhile about the efficacious effects of video based teaching in developing their listening comprehension skills. This study recommends that the dire need of the hour is to introduce video based teaching in university curriculum to develop listening comprehension skills of ESL undergraduates learners.
