are handicapped and they are about 4 to less than 18 years old. This include physically, mentally,
socially handicapped children's. This project is for teaching of these children's, also having
medical, diagnostic and vocational training.
The role of these organizations includes providing a voice of their own, identifying needs,
expressing views on priorities, evaluating services and advocating change and public awareness.
As a vehicle of self development, these organizations provide the opportunity to develop skills in
the negotiation process, organizational abilities, mutual support, information sharing and often
vocational skills and opportunities. In view of their vital importance in the process of
participation, it is imperative that their development be encouraged.
Disabled people's organizations play many roles at the local, national and international levels for
disabled people, governments, service providers and the general public. In many cases, the
organizations of disabled people are the best vehicle to carry out the aspirations of people with
disabilities. After all, disabled people, from their own personal experiences best know their
needs, aspirations and abilities. One of the main themes of the World Programme of Action is the
importance of Organizations of Disabled Persons. It calls upon governments to encourage their
development and utilize their expertise.
