Abstract
The present study translated Social Competence Scale for children (SCSC) of Pakistanwith age range 11-15 years. Specific conceptual elements regarding social competence were explored in Pakistani cultural context. Three bi-lingual professionals translated the Urdu version of Social Competence Scale for children (SCSC) into English language by analyzing it. Social Competence Scale for Children (SCSC) encompassed 40 items including 24 positive and 16 negative statements reflecting social competence.Sample consisted of 350 students (191 boys and 159 girls) with mean age of 12.41 years (S.D = 1.14) and were taken from 4 private O/A Levels schools of Lahore. Principle component factor analysis allocated six factors termed as social skills and obedience, assertiveness, communication, self-control, anti-social behavior, empathy and helping behavior. Cronbach's alpha and item analysis showed considerably good inner consistency for SCSC along with its subscales. The Social Competence Scale (SCS) is a meaningful contribution in measuring social competence among Pakistani children
