Item Perception of parents of children with hearing impairment about inclusive education at higher education(UMT, Lahore, 2020) SARAH FARASAT; SADIA NAZThis research aimed to explore the perception of the parents of children with hearing impairment about inclusive education at higher education. Inclusive education is a term which is used to include students from different culture, background, socio economics status, reginal variations, learning styles, abilities and disabilities. Inclusion can be full time or partial according to student’s level of disability and student’s degree of disability or according to severity level of disability. It depends on the level of support which student needs to cope in the general class room for getting access to curriculum, learning experiences, social integration. Now different al institutions are offering opportunities for Higher Education for H.I students in Pakistan. As we know their parents are having great impact on the selection of educational institutions of their children. This impact is more enhanced in case of any kind of disability. That’s why it is important to find out about “parent’s perception of children with hearing impairment about inclusive education at higher education”. In this quantitative research, the descriptive methodology was used in designing a self-made questionnaire to assess the parent’s perception. Population for this research was the parents of the deaf students who have selected the inclusive education institute for their children with hearing impairment. Convenient sampling was used to collect the data from the parents of BS and M.A 44 parents were selected for collecting the data and then analysed by using descriptive as well inferential analysis. Response of a majority of the parents was positive towards inclusive education for children with hearing impairment at higher education. This research highlighted a new direction for arranging and starting vocational and skill-oriented programs for hearing impaired students and such initiatives will encourage them to live an independent life in a developing country like Pakistan.Item Behaviour problems in adolescence with autism spectrum disorder during puberty(UMT, Lahore, 2020) Safa Tahir ButtAutism is a kind of disorder which can range on a wide spectrum. It means that the existing symptoms of this disorder in a child, can be of many different types. This research was held to find the behaviour problems faced by parents during the puberty of adolescence with autism. Moreover, to investigate the main challenges faced by parents and their effective use of existing or new techniques. Parents and teacher of children from ages 10 years and above will be the target population of this research. The sample from this population was selected by using the sampling technique of snowball sampling. Maximum 6-8 participants were selected through this sampling technique as a sample for research. Semi structured type of interview method will be used which will give researcher the margin to probe the respondents along with maintaining the basic interview structure. The number of participants that gave responses to the semi structured interview of the research were 6. Majority of the respondents reported increase in aggression and depiction of physical strength in the child while entering adolescence. Large number of respondents reported lack innocence and wanting independence in order to make their own daily routine decisions. Most of the respondents outlined the entitlement to be in charge of the environment and their surrounding because of their evident growth in size. There was increase in the level of curiosity about their surrounding and their daily routine tasks. There was a reported evident change in the sleeping preferences of the child. Majority respondents reported a positive impact on the diet plan of the child. More flexibility over food was reported by the respondents as they were more open to different type of food. Lack of communication and selective responsiveness were reported by the respondents.Item Effect of hearing loss on the behavior of hearing impaired students(UMT, Lahore, 2020) Maham Manzoor; Saroosh AbrarDifferent types of behavior problems lead to writing disabilities, which affects predominantly a student‘s academic performance. Mostly the parents are unaware of this fact and how to tackle these problems. Hearing impaired students have more behavior problems than hearing students. They cannot express themselves the way hearing students are entitled to. They feel ignored and withdrawn due to this fact. This study is designed to explore different kinds of behavior problems hearing imparted students. The behavior problems are social, academic and communication problems in which they express themselves to only hearing-impaired peers but not to hearing peers. To identify these problems, one needs to figure out the factors behind them and unearth the modes of interaction among hearing impaired and hearing students. This research is beneficial for teachers, parents and researchers for early identification of behavioral problems. The range of the students under scrutiny lies within both the government and public institutes. The process was like we sent them a link of Likert scale and they responded to us via link. The sample includes 16 males and 36 females from universities using convenient sampling. A quantitative approach was used. A three point Likert scale questionnaire having 22 statements were used to identify the effect of hearing loss on the behavior of impaired students.Item Perception of students without hearing loss about socialization with hearing impaired peers(UMT, Lahore, 2020) Kashmala NawazThis research aimed to explore the perception of student without hearing loss about socialization with hearing impaired peers. Socialization is an important contributor for hearing impaired students to interact with hearing peers. Sometimes Hearing impairment cause barriers in communication with hearing peers. That’s why it is important to find out about the perception of socialization of hearing students at higher education. In this quantitative research, the descriptive methodology was used infer the conclusion. A self-made questionnaire was developed by the researcher to explore the perception of hearing students. Population of this research was all the hearing students who had social interaction with hearing impaired students in inclusive education setup. Convenient sampling was used to select sample from hearing students of BS and MA Special education and other programs as well for collecting the data and then analyze by using descriptive as well inferential analysis by using SPSS. Response of majority students was positive towards the socialization of hearing students with hearing impaired students at higher education. This research highlighted a new direction for improving socialization among hearing peers and student with hearing impairment and such initiative will encourage them to include them in society in developing country like Pakistan.Item Problems faced by parents of children with intellectual disability in home living(UMT, Lahore, 2020) SYEDA AREEJ FATIMAThe concept of mental disability is nothing new and has been very common among young boys and girls for the past year. Numerous researches have been conducted to analyze and visualize the problems faced by children as well as parents in home living. However, this research is emerging under the problems faced by the parents of children with intellectual disability in home living; the investigation is primarily about the obstacles faced by parents whose children are facing problems in daily life. This is a quantitative research and is essentially descriptive in nature.my main respondents were parents from online sources due to covid’19 it was not possible for me to visit schools so that I decided to approach parents online contact free I used Facebook groups and my previous interaction with parents in school I contacted them and gathered data on google forms. I used the survey methodology to collect our data from the participants and used the survey as a data collection tool and analyzed, evaluated and coded my data. I need to analyze the increasing problems faced by parents of children with intellectual disability. I was also waiting for the parents to imagine the problems they were facing at the time. Finally, my findings summarize all of the problems parents face.Item Efects of social media on academic performance of students with hearing impairment(UMT, Lahore, 2020) SYEDA SEERAT HASSANThe study intended to see the effects of social media on the academic achievement of the students with hearing impairment. A descriptive research was employed. Convenient sampling technique was used for this purpose an d developed a questionnaire with 5 point Likert Scale (S.D=5, D=4, N=3, A=2, S.A=1) with twenty items consists of demographic information with 2 interlinked questions. All the students with hearing disability from the undergraduate program who enrolled in public and private colleges and universities became the population of this study. The reason is that at this stage the students use the social media frequently for the education and entertainment purpose. 55 undergraduate students with hearing disability at the University of Management and Technology is chosen as sample of this study with conveniently sampling. The Date was analyzed through SPSS. The results indicate that there is significant difference in the score of the male. 38% of the respondents fall into two categories of CGPA i.e: 2.50-3.00 and 3.01 – 3.50. Students‟ spend most of the time on social network, this activity distract them from their studies which effects on the academic performance. The result also indicate that social media has positive effect on their studies.
