Generalize anxiety tendencies, emotional disclosure and marital satisfaction in the wives of military officers and civilians

Abstract
This study aimed to explore the relationship between generalize anxiety tendencies, emotional disclosure and marital satisfaction of the wives of military officers and civilians. Purposive sampling technique was used to collect data from 166 participants from the wives of both military and civilian husbands. For this purpose, General Anxiety Tendencies (Salim & Subhan, 2023) Emotional Disclosure Scale (Snell et al., 1988) and Marital Satisfaction Scale (Ali et al., 2021) were used. Pearson Product Moment correlation revealed a significant negative relationship between general anxiety tendencies and marital satisfaction. Regression analysis showed that general anxiety tendencies as significantly predicted marital satisfaction in civil wives while positive emotional disclosure with husband predicted marital satisfaction in wives of military officers. Independent sample t-tests showed that there were significant difference with more emotional disclosure with husband in wives of military officers. While it also showed that emotional disclosure with husband and marital satisfaction were seen more in young age group of wives and husbands with significant difference. Moreover, one way- ANOVA showed that, marital satisfaction was highly associated with higher education of husband and less marriage duration of couple.
