    The Equations of Life
(UMT, Lhr, 2021-08) Muhammad Hassan Ayyaz
The topic I have selected for the thesis is “The equations of Life”. This topic is based on computer Architecture (Motherboard Circuits) and these circuits merge with mathematical equations, symbols and their formulas. The motherboard is one of the computer system's most important parts. The memory, connectors for input and output devices, and the central processing unit are among the essential parts of a computer, are held together by it (CPU). A very stiff layer of non-conductive material, usually rigid plastic, serves as the motherboard's basis. Traces—thin layers of copper or aluminum foil are imprinted on this sheet. These exceedingly small traces are used to link the different components. A motherboard has circuits for connecting other components as well as slots and sockets. I am a teacher of Mathematics and computers, so having expertise in this field I took this topic so I can demonstrate my own field in my thesis Many students have no idea about what is the purpose of mathematics in our daily life. Mathematics is basically used for the development of circuits. So that is the main reason to relate both things and to demonstrate the use of these things in our daily fashion and wearable clothes. "Life is like a Math equation, in order to gain the most and live peacefully, we have to know how to convert the negatives into positives" This world is like a circuit, consisting of positive and negative people and problems. We have to live like an equation to survive in this circuit world. Our lives are the sum of all choices, we've made until now the good thing is that we can change the equation when needed so that we can start making a difference in our life. Mathematical understanding and appropriate response are the key components of the subject; it is not about numbers, equations, computations, or algorithms.

Chinese dragons “home textiles inspired by chinese dragons”
    (UMT, Lhr, 2021-08) Hamza Zulfiqar
Having a history that goes back to thousands of years, China is known as being the oldest in terms of cultures in the world. There are many important elements of the Chinese culture such as music, cuisine, architecture, philosophy, martial arts, literature, visual and martial arts, etc. but what attracts me the most about their culture are the Chinese dragons as they are a legendary symbol in the mythology of their culture. It has been associated with the Chinese culture since the very beginning of their civilization so it became the symbol of the nation. A Chinese dragon is said to possess different elements of several different animals within itself because each part of its body resembles that of another animal. It consists of a tail which is just like that of a snake, horns just like a deer, eyes like those of a lobster, claws of an eagle, the muzzle of a dog, and a lion’s mane. Altogether, it’s nothing but a mixture of them all. I have always been fascinated by mythological creatures and myths in general. So, when I was allowed to choose a theme for my final year project, I had to avail it and come up with something of my taste. I chose Chinese Dragons because I found myself highly inspired by them as they are magnificent beasts and represent power. I was also impressed by the intricate detailing along with the combinations of different colors and textures. For this thesis, the aim is to develop some soulful textile prints by utilizing the best of my skills and several different techniques which I have been taught during the four years of my degree. The final development will be portrayed on Home Textiles and all the steps throughout the journey will be documented and showcased along with the final products in the thesis display.

Beatles and their habitat “finding beauty in the beetle”
    (UMT, Lhr, 2021-08) Maryam Waheed
Beauty is anything that causes pleasure through our senses. The perception of beauty is subjective to everyone as one has to have an eye to capture and find the beauty in the most unexpected and surprising places or beings. Beetles belongs to a phylum Arthropoda under the Animal Kingdom. We interact with this tiny insect on almost daily basis but we fail to pay any attention, as a human in this modern world we have been trained to experience things through sensations and something as small as a beetle sometimes fails to leave an impression in this fast-pacing world. Man, usually admires the beauty that he finds around him in the nature but sometimes we forget about the diversity and complexity with which our universe was fashioned. Every day we are struck with the discovery of some new object or specie with a fascinating structure and morphology. Just like Allah Almighty has created everything in this world with great attention to the detail, He created something as small and meagre as a beetle with even more elaborate detail. It’s just that our naked eyes sometimes fail to pay attention on the mesmerising surfaces and textures found on these beetles. To fully see the extent of their beauty and intricacy Beetles must be studied carefully. My work plan mainly focuses to understand the morphology, intricacy and the surface of these beetles and to convert these textures and patterns into textiles with different set of techniques and skills that were taught to me in my four-year degree programme. A lot of designs including open compositions and repeats will be created by manual sketching and Photoshop using elements form the primary research of the different beetles. The whole research process will be discussed in depth in this report along with all the experimental work and attempts of initial sketches of designing the artworks from scratch till the end. The end result of this research project and the expected outcome will have a display of four main products together with all the work done including the samples. This work will consist of many unique textile patterns and designs which will be extracted from the extensive study of beetles to highlight the beauty and the minute details found in this organism.

Geometrical optical illusions “apparel textiles inspired by phantasm mirage”
    (UMT, Lhr, 2021-08) Samana Batool
The distortion of the senses, interpreting the sensory stimulation, reveals how the normal human brain organizes is Illusion. In short, it is referred to as the delusion of human perception of reality, which is usually distorted but still shared by most humans. Merging the illusions with basic geometry, treating the properties of lines, points, solids, and surfaces. It is a fusion of the illusions with the geometry, calling it Geometrical Optical Illusions. We tend to believe that illusions are the result of the visual human perspective of a delusion, sometimes known as hallucinations in medical terms. Illusions might be occurring with any of the human senses, but optical illusions are the most emphasized due to the domination of vision on other senses. The brain makes general assumptions during perceptions which result in illusions. It is just that one human being's perspective of viewing things is different from another. Illusions are usually based on the condition going on inside the human being or due to the events happening in one's surrounding environment. As an artist, we are initially taught how to draw a line, so all my work is based on lines and how to distort it through our perception. Moreover, different textile techniques are applied to somehow achieve the required product. The designs are created manually and by using Photoshop by manipulation of basic geometry. From the initial to finalization, each and every step will be elaborated along with along with the whole inputs. On the final day, result of the whole research will be presented in the shape of four major products encompassing the entire effort made in this regard. Basic geometrical designs will be the basic component of this activity.

    Fantasy Airships “Dream Ride”
    (UMT, Lhr, 2021-08) Dua Khan
Airships were the very first medium of traveling through the air for humans. It was a unique and jaw-dropping invention in its era and it became very successful and popular among the people as it was the only available opportunity to fly high in the sky and to cover longer distances in lesser time as compared to all other available means of transportation. The idea of flying mechanisms consisting of a combination of bright and magical textiles made fantasy airships a thing for me and I’ve always wanted to grab myself an opportunity to work on the infusion of fantasy airships with a vintage vibe. Over time I have gathered a lot of inspiration on this theme through fantasy novels and science fiction which I would like to accumulate. This project is expected to dig into the craft of airships and hot air and their elements. The focus in design will be on the 19th to 20th century. Textile prints will be developed by using the motif and ornamental extraction of this theme. All different textile techniques that I have been taught during my degree program shall be depicted through my work. The final display shall include the documentation of the step-by-step procedure of design development as well as the four main products which will be from the home category of textiles.

Zodiac sign illustrations “augmented design of zodiac based pop art”
    (UMT, Lhr, 2021-08-18) Arishbah Ajmal
Pop arts became apparent in the 1950s to 1960s in Europe and America as a commercial trend in comics & drawings. Pop arts comprise bright primary colours usually pigments include red, yellow, and blue (RYB). Pop art is bright colour gives an immersive appeal in design. This colour scheme has been augmented into a Zodiac design theme. Zodiac came from a branch of astronomy in which zodiacs have been divided into twelve signs. Each sign corresponds to a star that are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. For each zodiac sign, there is a designed sign which matches a person's birthday months. Allah Almighty has left his signs in this universe we humans divided and named these constellations for better understanding of His magnificent creations. As Allah, the merciful has to create everything with so much detailing and no one can match Him. In this thesis work, we have designed and manufactured textile products using zodiac patterns with pop art colour schemes. Work plans to have an illustration of detailed zodiac-based pattern to portray them on textile with the techniques these designs are comprised of handcrafted as well as computer-aided designs that we were taught in this degree tenure. These techniques are used to design the elements from zodiac details of the different signs of the horoscope. The research process that will be discussed in this thesis will take you from introduction, literature review, methodology, results and recommendation. The expected outcome will have the display of four main products with their design from versatile pattern level to design of pop art scheme zodiac design.

    Mandala art x geometric patterns
    (UMT, Lhr, 2021) Nimra Imran
The ancient Buddhist and Hindu cultures promote mandala as a representation of deities as they associate spirituality with it. The word ―mandala‖ comes from Sanskrit and refers to ―A circle of center‖ and it is also called a ―magic circle‖. Usually, a mandala is considered to be round in shape but it can vary as long as it has one central point. The circle shape represents the never ending cycle of life according to Buddhism. Hindus were the first ones to come up with Mandala Art but later several Asian cultures adopted the concept. A typical mandala symbolizes totality, timelessness, wholeness, unity, and infinity. In terms of design, a mandala has to either fall into symmetry perfectly and be properly measured as well as balanced. Or it could be designed freehand, which can be asymmetrical and imperfect. On the other hand, geometry is the core of mandalas as they are precise and proper. Geometric patterns consist of lines and different geometrical shapes like squares, triangles, and circles. These patterns are all about the satisfying arrangement of these elements. Symmetry is what geometry is famous for. Such patterns will only add to the Mandala art in my opinion, that is why for this thesis I would go for a combination of geometric patterns and mandala art. The goal is to achieve great-looking and vibrant textile patterns. The work shall consist of a step by-step procedure of design development and its application. Various textile techniques shall be involved, and a lot of different materials shall also be explored for this thesis. A lot of samples will be developed and all of the work done throughout this journey shall be showcased at The Final Display. My work shall be displayed as an outcome of Apparel textiles which will cater to an age window of teenagers to young adults. The work shall depict my understanding of the Mandala and Geometric Art and the best of my learning through the past four years of my degree program with the consultation of the concerned expertise.a

Fifties Musical Instruments Illustration in textiles “The Big Band Records”
    (UMT, Lhr, 2021) Maryam Afaq
Since the beginning of human civilization, music has always been a source of contentment and celebration for mankind. The history of musical instruments dates back to 40,000 years but western music came to light in the 1600s. This thesis work is inspired by the Music Revolution brought in the 1950s when the acoustic music shifted to electric guitars and music became for accessible to the youngsters. The instruments specifically used in jazz and pop rock like violins, piano, guitars (acoustic, electric and bass), drums, banjos etc. and their beautiful intricate patterns and details have been used to develop sketches and compositions. The samples created have been brought to life by using a wide variety of fabric and textile modifications learned over the period of my degree. The pastel tones selected for the collection enhance the beauty of the retro style patterns and use of vinyl and old recording devices like cassettes and radio systems made the textile designs really unique and out of the box. The name big band is a unified name used for the pop rock and jazz music in the olden times and the big band was like an orchestra of all the instruments used in the 1950’s that will be highlighted and portrayed in my designs. The novelty is the use of the imagery of the instruments and devices in my comprehensive designs in such a manner that the fine wires and intricate electrical and mechanical parts are clearly visible.

    “Buddhist mandala” “mandalas”
    (UMT, Lhr, 2021-08) Ezza Ahmed
There is no ideal definition for the meaning and type of a mandala and I don't think there will be at any point, as it exists in arts from many societies in different forms. A mandala is a Sanskrit word meaning circle is an imaginative depiction of higher idea and deeper meaning expressing geometric symbols used in nonsecular, emotional, or psychological art to reflect one's personal interests and ideas. In different belief systems of Jainism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, and Shintoism, it was and is adopted as a meditative technique and spiritual practice. The mandala is used by spiritual centres, yoga courses, grief treatment counsellors, and many other organisations and professional vocations to assist their customers. I intended to focus on mandalas, specifically Buddhist Mandalas, since I believe that mandalas are essential for self awareness and acceptance. By creating mandalas, a person may get an understanding of themselves, identify not so healthy thoughts and behaviours, and grow closer to the middle of their true self, leaving behind the many self thoughts that clouded and limited their psychological and spiritual vision. I realised that many individuals around me were suffering from covid depression and home sickness, so I decided to create mandalas and construct a meditation space for them. The designs will be created both physically and digitally, utilising components from Buddhist mandalas. This report will go through the whole research process, as well as all of the efforts and early sketches of designing from the beginning to the conclusion. The intended output will be a display of this thesis that will include four primary items as well as all of the work completed as a sampling. The work will include a variety of patterns and motifs that will be derived from Buddhist mandalas, paying special attention to detail.

    The sprawling earthling designs
(UMT, Lhr, 2021-08) Noor ul Nafia
There is nothing more fascinating than to explore the life around us. Everything in this humungous universe. Imagery satellites owned by governments and businesses all around the world collect photographs of the Earth. Satellite imaging companies, such as Apple Maps and Google Maps, sell photos by licensing them to governments and enterprises. It is not to be confused with astronomy photographs captured by a space telescope. We live in an unprecedented time where we have an extraordinary ability to literally look at ourselves, and the environments that support us. The abundance of satellite images of our amazing world gives us a clear and detailed view of our amazing planet, like never before. We tend to admire textures as we see them with our own eyes, and there is no doubt that they look so amazingly beautiful that they remind us of the diversity in God's creation. Just as Allah created everything in the universe with attention to minute detail, He created something as insignificant as flowers with great detail. It's just that we can't see it with our naked eyes and to do them justice, Ariel's view of the Earth tour under the satellite must be studied. Genuine work intends to see and comprehend the scenes of the Earth including various surfaces and portray them on materials utilizing various abilities and procedures educated during the four years of the degree.

Blue pottery “the insight of the jaipuri pottery ”
    (UMT, Lhr, 2021-06) Maria Khan
The theme or topic chosen for this thesis is blue pottery which is originated from Jaipur in India and Multan in Pakistan. It has always been considered a very creative craft of Central Asia. As the name suggests, the term blue is associated with it because of the cobalt blue color used extensively in this craft. Like anything else, many changes have occurred in the making of this art according to the requirements and for the sake of improvement. For instance, in the beginning, a glazed coating was used which later was replaced by the lead-free coating. The purpose of mentioning this is that with time things change and many variations can be seen but why should the color scheme remain the same. I wanted to try out an infusion of these pottery designs with more color options just to make it pop even more. The idea is to create a spectacular range of textile prints with a vibrant color palette for women falling into the age window of 16 to 25 years belonging to the middle & elite class.

Amazonian birds & leaves “the journey of botanical forest”
    (UMT, Lhr, 2021-07) Huzaifa
This theme is inspired by the birds and leaves of amazon rain forest and highly inspired by their colors of skins. In the amazon rain forest, we can see toucans, hoatzins, harpy eagles, macaws, king vulture etc. and in the leaves, we can see Bromeliads, Cacao, Giant Water Lilies etc. The colors of nature always inspire me and I always enjoy to work on natural things like nature related designs, paintings, embellishments and other things. Simply for example when we see any kind of bird like a simple cock you can see the color of his skin change in different light and shines differently, this kind of things really inspire me to do whole thesis on this topic. The designers ever since have been so fond of this regal heritage and they go on experimenting and improvising the Tropical art in so many new ways and even as it is. This style of art can never go old and there is always a new way to work on. Like many other designers, artists, or students of Art & Design, I have also been very fascinated by the intricacy of the Tropical designs as they seem very ethnic and detailed. I love the color palette of bird’s skins and leaves. The main objective to use tropical art in my prints is to achieve brilliance. As we know it is not a vast theme, I will try to cover maximum prints or designs in my theme. I will create as many motifs and patterns in my theme and try to explore new creative things in my theme. In tropical art, we can make countless prints and designs, which can help us to relieve the warmth of the tropical art. Countless textile prints can be created using the element

Kufic script “kufic style of writing”
    (UMT, Lhr, 2021-08) LAVEEZA TANVEER
Kufic script, in calligraphy, the most reliable acknowledged Islamic translated letter set used by early Muslims to record the Qur'an. This exact, drowsy, respectable substance was similarly used on tombstones, coins, and building organizations. A couple of experts separate Kufic real from Meccan and Medieval substance, the two of which were used to copy the Qur'an. The substance was given the name Kufi in light of the fact that it was thought to have started in Kufah, Iraq, an early Islamic social neighborhood. Direct Kufi was grown first thing in the Islamic time period, and is being utilized to duplicate the most brief known duplicates of the Qur'an (from the eighth to the tenth numerous years). Some time later, foliated Kufi, turned or entwined Kufi, lined Kufi, and squared Kufi prospered, comparatively as several different groupings of the substance set up, including foliated Kufi, agreed or weaved Kufi, lined Kufi, and squared Kufi. Rust dust
    (UMT, Lhr, 2021-09) Muhammad Usman
The motivation behind Steampunk is its science and fiction nature. Reason to choose this Steampunk is one of its color scheme (brown, orange and Gold) which goes to Rust dying. My grip on Rust dying pattern forces me to choose this Steampunk so that by combination of these above mentioned three colors unique designs will be developed explicating the Steampunk theme with a combination of Rust dying technique. The main objective of the project is to get a resultant product or group of products from the combination work of Steampunk and Rust dying. Objectives include to design study/relaxing room based on all the work done on above mentioned theme and its colors and to design a ROCKING CHAIR based to attain multiple techniques like embellishment, screen printing, digital printing etc. The above-mentioned desired outcome will go through the following procedure. First we will make the research boards and mood boards, then we will move further to the next procedure of design making from Steampunks its motive and its science fiction based theme will be used to extract the designs on which Rust dying will be applied by using its color theme and shapes specific designs. Designs shape ideas will be taken from the Steampunk and then further process of manufacturing, showing and shaping will be done further more on it. Rust dying will be done on extracted designs and they will lead to make a proper designed outcome which completely goes to explicit an outcome. As a result a study/relaxing room will be made depending totally on above-mentioned theme and their look will automatically show the impact of theme. On top of it, a relaxing chair will be made which will add some more dependency on this theme based work.

    Kalash “apparel of kalash”
(UMT, Lhr, 2021-08) MASOOMA BINT E AJMAL
Any given fashion and design have retained its identity throughout history, which has evolved into a culture's unique personality feature. The Kalash valley, located in Pakistan's Hindu Kush area near Chitral City, is distinctive in terms of both geography and culture. It is a tiny group of believers living in a remote mountainous location that is a mixture of Birir, Bumburat, and Rumbur, identifying them from the rest of Pakistan. In the winter, a black gown and handspun woolen are the traditional cultural fashion attire. Shells, buttons, black wool, and colorful feathers form a well-decorated crown on their heads. The myths and stories linked with these people's cultural background have an influence on their thinking. Individuality is maintained by wearing traditional clothing. The textile, dress, and ideologies of this culture are its roots. The focus of this race's existence is the image they project. This research concentrates on the usage of cloth design and fashion that originates from their unique mindset. These three factors maintain interest in the Kalasha's cultural and traditional lives alive and well. The seclusion and religious structure of this culture have allowed it to maintain its dress and textile design. Globalization has not yet been successful in transforming this culture into a modern kind of art. Their uniqueness and visual strength are preserved by their design and dress, which symbolizes the fuller development of this interesting culture.

Unharnessing the spirit “an ode to my spirit animal”
    (UMT, Lhr, 2021) Noor Fatima
Being close to nature brings a person a lot of peace and wellness, this has been proved scientifically as well. Mother nature has blessed us with so many good things that we cannot even imagine our lives without. Animals are another beautiful creation of The Almighty that brings us closer to nature and draws us towards calmness. We have been benefitting from animals since the very beginning of time and they also never get tired of serving us in every possible way. From transportation to food to companionship and body guarding, animals have proved to be the most loyal creations of God. In ancient times, there was a very famous concept of having spirit animals which were decided according to a person’s habits and nature. One could not just pick it randomly; it was decided only by a person’s zodiac sign and date of birth. I found horses as my spirit animal because of the same attributes that we share such as being resilient, strong, tough, decent, wanting to be around someone and be loved greatly, and has a different aura. After finding out about my spirit animal, I was surprised because I learned a lot of new things about myself which I had never noticed before. Horses are a beautiful creation of The Almighty and I’m obsessed with them not just because of their physical beauty but also because of their qualities. The character and nature of the horse are very similar to mine I feel and they have a gorgeous link with the world of art and design in my opinion. So, for this project, I shall bring out the beauty of horses on textile through various techniques that I have been taught during the four years of my degree. All the work shall be done under the light of guidance from the experts. The work shall be portrayed in the form of Wall Installations in Home Textiles which will target the corporate market or elite horse lovers. The final display shall consist of the documented journey from very scratch till the formation of the end products.

    Suleymania mosque
    (UMT, Lhr, 2021) IQRA MUNEER
The topic I have selected for the thesis is Sulaymaniyah mosque. This mosque means a lot to Turkish culture. A work of Sinan the Architect, this construction is an ideal and incredible blend of straightforwardness and grandiose. Its simple design with a combination of calligraphy and empty space enhances the interior of the mosque. The word ―Baz e Taab‖, it is a Persian word which means ―Reflection‖ with refers to a calm, length, intent consideration. I relate the title name with light as a light plan aspect in mosque designs. Light is an important significant not only from a practical purpose as well as from a symbolic and spiritual basics. Calculation, light, and the investigation of the beginning and nature of the universe were masterfully combined by the architect to make a stunningly proportioned religious space bathed in light. Two ways of light one of these reflectors was intended to coordinate sun based light at a solitary point inside a structure, considering the changing places of the sun for the duration of the day and seasons. The other one is the hanging light. The decent designs is combined with calligraphy, it is merged in the mosque and becomes an external masterpiece. In calligraphy there are Haroofs which means the alphabets of Urdu or Arabic language. It is supposed to be the basics that are needed to be learned to gain basic command over the specific language. It plays a significant job throughout the entire existence of Muslim religion. Making a connection with wonderful implantations, insides were one reason. The attempt was to introduce the specialty of decency and history in such a fun and euphoric way that would change and reevaluate the picture of the topic in certain personalities without a doubt. This thesis was intended to serene elevates the eminence yet keep it exceptionally negligible as far as supporting components like the future for this situation. Another reason to be satisfied was that I needed to design prints that were unisex even not utilized as home material items or home textile products. This record shows the most important, nice, decent, and excellent mosque.
