(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Muhammad Hussain Humza Mazhar; Muhammad Husnain Abbas; Arqum Ejaz Shah; Muteeb Najam Butt
We live in 21st century and now in this modern era, everything seems to be going digital, from doing simple tasks like talking to someone to bigger tasks like exploring space. Countries like Japan have modernized itself and due to this factor, it has a stable economy because being modern also means faster and more efficient. The way we travel is also changed a lot, we rarely travel on foot now, the distances which used to take months to cover are being covered in hours, everything is becoming fast and rapid and in order to keep pace, non-modern communities follow the modern ones and that’s how a competition era is evolved. Countries are competing in this sector. Spying is itself an art and there are various purposes one spy at the others, many intelligence agencies do so, countries do so and interestingly siblings do so as well. We took both the concepts (Spying and digitalization) and merged them both and evolved a hybrid which we call Wireless War Field Military Spy Robot. It is a sweet combination of modernization and spying. We can now spy on enemy while sitting back in our command center.

Data acquisition and signal processing of an ecg
(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Muhammad Adeel; Abdulrehman Arshad; Syed Arsum Khubaibullah Gillani
During engineering we are supposed to do those engineering projects which are in favor and goodwill of the public. The main difficulty faced by the community is diseases and unhealthy life. More exploration reveals some critical facts and figures about the deadly diseases of the heart. According to WHO (World Health Organization) 17.7 million people died due to heart diseases in 2015 all over the world and 82% of them were in low and middle income countries. In most of cases the disease is not diagnosed in right time to be cured because diagnostic procedures are expensive and complex. An engineer’s duty is to remove intricacies and serve his fellow human beings. The main purpose of this project is to design a diagnostic (ECG) machine which should be cheap, easy to use and accessible to common people. Most importantly it reveals accurate information about the heart’s condition. Moreover, doctors use ECG machine along with electroencephalogram (EEG) to monitor the conscious level of a patient suffering anesthesia or during any surgical procedure. Diagnosis is most important part of any disease to be cured and via this ECG machine we can interpret the condition of heart’s four chambers, and via this information we can contribute towards serving the humanity, help the helpless and save the people in distress.

Load management scheme on transformers using scada
(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Talha Rauf Pitafi; Hamza Asif; Muhammad Arslan
A transformer is a device that is used to step up or down the voltage or current levels by keeping power constant. But transformer is very expensive and bulky electrical equipment. Almost all the power system relies on the transformers and continuous (uninterruptable) supply is preferred, so transformers are operated throughout the day. On grid stations, sometimes situations may occur when transformers may operate out of their range, this may occur due to heavy motoring loads, or increased load feeders’ demands, or lagging power factors, or any fluctuations. Under these conditions busbars become overloaded due to increased load demand with the passage of time. So to prevent load shedding on busbars, paralleling of transformers must be done. One of the best solutions, to overcome this issue, is to use more than one transformer in parallel for load sharing purposes. This project covers the milestones like, effectively sharing the load among the transformers according to the loading conditions, analyze the effects of power factor on paralleling, voltage regulation of transformers, minimized circulating currents and maximized efficiency of the transformers.

An intuitive approach for the design and implementation of omnidirectional telepresence robot
(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Zain Ul Abideen; Muhammad Husnain Javed
The telepresence robot is designed to set forth an economic solution to facilitate day to day normal activities in almost every field. The applications of this robot include the conference meeting, conducting interviews, distance learning, teaching, office meet ing etc. There are a number of proposed solutions to design telepresence robots e.g Skype and team viewer, but it is pretty silly to use Skype and extra hardware. Video transmission is achieved by using the WebRTC technology between client and user to interface the control commands. The user can log in to the website and the robot could be controlled using a GUI interface along with a separate window for video display. The hosted WebRTC and java scripts translated the commands to the microcontroller to translate the instruction. To achieve the efficient and reliable video transmission the influence quality factors like quality of service (QoS) and bandwidth are resolved using the WebRTC along with the integration of the communication protocols. To protect the data transmission we have implemented the SSL protocol and installed on the server125. To prevent the public access from the control panel we have designed a login page and linked with the Microsoft SQL server to enhance the authentication process. The biggest challenge was to make moving internet connection anywhere without any dependency. The problem of the movement is resolved by Omni wheels as it does not require steering angle. The telepresence robot could be controlled anywhere through the internet and smooth motion of the robot is obtained by omnidirectional control. The robot is mod elled as a holonomic omnidirectional and equations of the modelling are implemented in the microcontroller to obtain the omnidirectional movement. The whole process of the robot is accomplished by three phases; two phases of the programming and one phase of the hardware implementation. One phase is WebRTC integration with JavaScript programming, second for microcontroller programming to control motion and third for hardware implementation and software integration of the robot

Clutter and jammer mitigation for airborne radars
(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Muhammad Hassan; Qazi Muhammad Raheel; Waseem; Shahzad Khalil
Detection of signal in the presence of noise was topic of great interest in the domain of Radar signal processing since after 2nd world war. But in that scenario the platform (Ground) itself was stationary and it was not so challenging to detect the signal in the presence of clutter or noise because clutter filtering can be easily done on the basis of Doppler shift .But in the last 20 years radar world has changed dramatically and active multichannel phased array antennas are now mostly using in every fighter plane mostly known as AESA (Active Electronically Scanned – Array radars). These Airborne radars have the capability to target any stationary or moving object one the ground . In case of targeting any moving object on the ground although the one problem is that the signal is totally embedded in noise. The second major problem is that Doppler frequency of clutter is dependent on the angle between clutter and radial velocity of Aircraft. Space time adaptive processing is the technique which filters the signal in both the spatial and temporal domain. For spatial sampling of the backscattered echo there must be multichannel phased array antenna, so the array geometry comes on account of spatial dimensions. And the 32temporal dimensions come on account of pulse trains. Adaptive processing is derived from the word 'Adaptation’. This means on account of changing nature of clutter and jammer noise there is a need to estimate the "inverse" of clutter and jammer noise space time covariance -matrix. For modeling all of these STAP algorithms current program must have to link a complete mono-static radar. So first modeling a complete mono-static radar in which based on radar design specifications radar parameters will be designed, target, transmitter, receiver and propagation environment effects will incorporate and After that linking this radar for performing space time adaptive processing.

Vision based uav for suspect Recognition and following
(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Mian Muzammil; Hussain Sami Ullah; Abdul Rehman; Ahad Butt
Unmanned Aerial Vehicle’s (UAV’s) are mostly used for distinct objectives and missions e.g for aerial reconnaissance, for scanning of the earth (remote sensing), for searching, rescuing and transporting as well. UAV’s consist of numerous types e.g Tri-Copter, Quad-copter, Hexa-copter, Octa-Copter. We built an autonomous quadcopter that can be used to follow the human through image processing. For this purpose, we used Viola-Jones face detection algorithm. It is the most appropriate procedure for detecting the human faces. There are other algorithms that can be used for face detection like Dlib face detector but Viola-Jones face detection algorithm is the fastest. It has less accuracy than Dlib. Before image processing, the stability of this quadcopter is the most important thing which we have done accurately. It can serve more strategic operations, for example, looking through a town or locking persons. Ultimately, it will provide benefits for distinct purposes (e.g reconnaissance and defense) as well as commercial use (e.g traffic surveillance and weather detection).

A sensor with flexible and sustainable nature configured with intensive, matchless and eccentric abilities, this device has to capability of conversion into worker's efficiency calculation gadget by the implementation of specific methodologies and has the property to do the adjustment with respect to the working conditions. An American organization is manufacturing the Leap motion sensor and has the responsibility for its coherence. Leap sensor is an external hardware device of a compact size and tracks the hand and palm motions and gestures, by using gray-scale technology. Leap motion sensor can even detect all the three joints of fingers and give reaction according to each joint by using specific methodologies. Here, our approach is to use the specific abilities of Leap sensor according to our desired goal evaluation of worker's ability in accordance with the working conditions and other dependable factors. For our desired goal, we need two Arduinos, one Arduino Uno, and one Arduino Nano, to assure our ease and system's flexibility and Ultrasonic sensor to observe the worker's presence and absence. We have to keep the Leap motion within a working place due to its sensing area limitations by using some holding instrument. Every objective requires certain approach and resolutions for its achievement, and to fulfill its required perspectives.

Small scale wind energy conversion system
(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Shahzaib Abbas; Nusrat Abbas; Muhammad Ahsaan Ilahi
Our project consists of the design and manufacture of wind turbine to obtain the power through a DC Generator by the speed of wind to rotate the blades of turbine. The blades are attached with two rotors (upper and lower rotor), and the lower rotor is coupled with the pulley of DC Generator through a belt.. Our turbine’s rotor is one of the kind which is similar to the Cyclo-Turbine. Now-a-days wind technology is more advanced and efficient. To make the connection of this renewable source of energy with the grid, there is the need of deep knowledge of synchronizing the both. The areas of interest in the power system of this kind such as the calculation of wind speed, control analysis, modeling and stability of the wind energy system connected to the electrical networks are important in the modern electrical system. Researchers are doing hard to overcome the stability issues in the field of Wind energy. The main problem due to which we think of making this project is the shortage of generation of electricity in Pakistan from the hydel and coal source. So we thought of making an advanced Wind turbine made from the basic invention of science i.e. Simple rim of bicycle as rotor having diameter of 26 inches, blades of steel of length 30 inches and bearing of 2 inches. Quantity of blades used in our project is 6 which are 60 degrees apart on the rim and are made up of steel. We preferred steel over PVC because of more strength of steel as compared to PVC. Steel is 10 times stronger than PVC but 8 times heavier than PVC, so as we have no concern with the weight of blades we just want strength of blades that is why steel is preferred over PVC.

Vapsm-a prototype smart meter: design and hardware implementation
(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Rehan Ahmad; Muhammad Talha; Amir Hamid; Abdul Wahab
Energy demand in the world is increasing by every day as not only the population is increasing but also the everyday tools and appliances that make our lives better use electricity and their quantity is increasing. This increase in demand is a major issue in developing countries and to solve this problem every citizen needs to play his part by efficiently using energy. The problem can't be solved unless every person knows how much energy he is using and how to monitor his usage to save energy. A possible solution to this problem is to design VAP Smart Meter or VAPSM which is a device that keeps track of your power consumption, give you alerts along with bill calculation and energy usage history and patterns. VAPSM also provides utility providers an efficient way to collect data for billing and also save the costs of the trips to the physical location of the meter. VAPSM production cost is low and it also provides flexibility of design by using microcontroller which can provide an additional option to perform other controlled or automated tasks using the same microcontroller. VAPSM communicates with the consumer and utility provider using a GSM module.
