Item Bi-pedal walking robot(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Awais Murtza; Muhammad Bin Tariq; Mohammad Mohsin; Yahya NaseemBipedal walking approaches are one of the main technical hurdles the robotics researchers are trying to solve because of its high dimensionality, natural instability, and nonlinearity. The major challenge is to achieve a stable walk with inexpensive infrastructure without using complex algorithms. For this reason, only a small number of research groups have the ability to create robots that can walk. This project covers motion plan of bi-pedal walking robot and effort aims to develop a series of research for simple but reliable bipedal walking method. We are proposing a shift displacement walking technique. It attains CoP (Centre of Point) while walking and the projection of center of gravity of robot to ground remains within foot area of robot to maintain static stability. We have devised a coding technique to use the serial processing in a manner that it executes like parallel coding. We present the prototype of AMMY to test the simple walking. This robot gives exposure to static walking. It includes the gear train reduction mechanism actuator selection and controller interfacing using PCA9685.It accomplish accurate multiple motors angles on run time. The AMMY platform is based on KHR-1[5] and has 10 DOF, stands 38 cm, and weighted as 1.5kg. Major Inertial forces were taken care of by slowing it down a bit.Item Data acquisition and signal processing of an ecg(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Muhammad Adeel; Abdulrehman Arshad; Syed Arsum Khubaibullah GillaniDuring engineering we are supposed to do those engineering projects which are in favor and goodwill of the public. The main difficulty faced by the community is diseases and unhealthy life. More exploration reveals some critical facts and figures about the deadly diseases of the heart. According to WHO (World Health Organization) 17.7 million people died due to heart diseases in 2015 all over the world and 82% of them were in low and middle income countries. In most of cases the disease is not diagnosed in right time to be cured because diagnostic procedures are expensive and complex. An engineer’s duty is to remove intricacies and serve his fellow human beings. The main purpose of this project is to design a diagnostic (ECG) machine which should be cheap, easy to use and accessible to common people. Most importantly it reveals accurate information about the heart’s condition. Moreover, doctors use ECG machine along with electroencephalogram (EEG) to monitor the conscious level of a patient suffering anesthesia or during any surgical procedure. Diagnosis is most important part of any disease to be cured and via this ECG machine we can interpret the condition of heart’s four chambers, and via this information we can contribute towards serving the humanity, help the helpless and save the people in distress.Item Load management scheme on transformers using scada(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Talha Rauf Pitafi; Hamza Asif; Muhammad ArslanA transformer is a device that is used to step up or down the voltage or current levels by keeping power constant. But transformer is very expensive and bulky electrical equipment. Almost all the power system relies on the transformers and continuous (uninterruptable) supply is preferred, so transformers are operated throughout the day. On grid stations, sometimes situations may occur when transformers may operate out of their range, this may occur due to heavy motoring loads, or increased load feeders’ demands, or lagging power factors, or any fluctuations. Under these conditions busbars become overloaded due to increased load demand with the passage of time. So to prevent load shedding on busbars, paralleling of transformers must be done. One of the best solutions, to overcome this issue, is to use more than one transformer in parallel for load sharing purposes. This project covers the milestones like, effectively sharing the load among the transformers according to the loading conditions, analyze the effects of power factor on paralleling, voltage regulation of transformers, minimized circulating currents and maximized efficiency of the transformers.Item Prototype for advance metering infrastructure (ami) for demand side management(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Ghulam Hassan Warraich; Noman Liaqat; Hassan Mohyuddin; Mohsin AliAutomatic Meter Reading system (AMR) continuously checks the working of meter and sends information on demand of specialist organization through SMS. It spares immense human work. The information got from the smart meter is displayed in database server which was situated at power providing company through SMS portal for additional handling by power supplying company. The innovation of e-metering (Electronic Metering) has experienced quick technological changing and there is increased interest for a dependable and proficient Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) system. This report displays the plan of a basic minimal effort remote GSM power meter and its related web interface, for automatic charging of power and dealing with the gathered information all around the power systems. The proposed framework replaces conventional meter reading strategies and empowers remote access of existing energy meter by the power supplier. Additionally they can screen the meter readings frequently without the individual going by each house. A GSM based remote correspondence module is incorporated with electronic energy meter of every power user to have remote access over the utilization of power. A computer with a GSM collector at the opposite end, which contains the database acts as the billing point. Live meter reading from the GSM module energy meter is sent back to this billing point periodically and these details are updated in a central database from which the power provider can check the bills of every user. Another easy approach is to establish a web page where the information of every user is displayed. Information regarding voltage, current, units consumed and the amount of bill which has to pay is displayed. Consumers and power supplying company can access this information very easily.Item Small scale wind energy conversion system(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Shahzaib Abbas; Nusrat Abbas; Muhammad Ahsaan IlahiOur project consists of the design and manufacture of wind turbine to obtain the power through a DC Generator by the speed of wind to rotate the blades of turbine. The blades are attached with two rotors (upper and lower rotor), and the lower rotor is coupled with the pulley of DC Generator through a belt.. Our turbine’s rotor is one of the kind which is similar to the Cyclo-Turbine. Now-a-days wind technology is more advanced and efficient. To make the connection of this renewable source of energy with the grid, there is the need of deep knowledge of synchronizing the both. The areas of interest in the power system of this kind such as the calculation of wind speed, control analysis, modeling and stability of the wind energy system connected to the electrical networks are important in the modern electrical system. Researchers are doing hard to overcome the stability issues in the field of Wind energy. The main problem due to which we think of making this project is the shortage of generation of electricity in Pakistan from the hydel and coal source. So we thought of making an advanced Wind turbine made from the basic invention of science i.e. Simple rim of bicycle as rotor having diameter of 26 inches, blades of steel of length 30 inches and bearing of 2 inches. Quantity of blades used in our project is 6 which are 60 degrees apart on the rim and are made up of steel. We preferred steel over PVC because of more strength of steel as compared to PVC. Steel is 10 times stronger than PVC but 8 times heavier than PVC, so as we have no concern with the weight of blades we just want strength of blades that is why steel is preferred over PVC.Item Worker’s efficiency calculation using leap motion sensor(UMT.Lahore, 2018) Hayder Atta; Talha Arshad; Saad Imtiaz; Bilal ArifA sensor with flexible and sustainable nature configured with intensive, matchless and eccentric abilities, this device has to capability of conversion into worker's efficiency calculation gadget by the implementation of specific methodologies and has the property to do the adjustment with respect to the working conditions. An American organization is manufacturing the Leap motion sensor and has the responsibility for its coherence. Leap sensor is an external hardware device of a compact size and tracks the hand and palm motions and gestures, by using gray-scale technology. Leap motion sensor can even detect all the three joints of fingers and give reaction according to each joint by using specific methodologies. Here, our approach is to use the specific abilities of Leap sensor according to our desired goal evaluation of worker's ability in accordance with the working conditions and other dependable factors. For our desired goal, we need two Arduinos, one Arduino Uno, and one Arduino Nano, to assure our ease and system's flexibility and Ultrasonic sensor to observe the worker's presence and absence. We have to keep the Leap motion within a working place due to its sensing area limitations by using some holding instrument. Every objective requires certain approach and resolutions for its achievement, and to fulfill its required perspectives.
