    CHALLENGES AND NEEDS OF NOVICE PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS RELATED TO CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT AT ELEMENTARY LEVEL IN LAHORE

    Novice elementary school teachers may have professional teacher education degrees, but they often experience many difficulties in the actual classroom settings, especially while managing classrooms in the early years of their teaching. International literature and research emphasize the fact that many novice teachers leave the job when they find themselves unable to manage the class effectively. This study aimed to explore the challenges and needs of novice elementary public-school teachers in Lahore, related to classroom management in their initial three years. The challenges focused in this study were physical facilities related challenges, administration-related challenges, students-behaviour-related challenges, and teachers‘ self-created challenges in classroom management.

    An Analysis of Education Policy and Science Teachers’ Practices for Developing Critical Thinking Skills in Secondary School Students

    Critical thinking has been given much importance to the progress of twenty first-century learners in national and international education policy documents as well as in theoretical literature on secondary science education. The current study aimed to develop an understanding of how science teachers interpret and enact education policy recommendations for developing critical thinking skills among secondary school students in public schools. The study in hand was a qualitative research with a multiple case study design. A purposive sampling technique was used to select four public secondary schools as research sites. From each school, three science teachers teaching the subjects of Physics, Chemistry or Biology were selected, which comprised 12 participants for the study. This qualitative study was done in different phases to address the research objectives.

    EFFECTIVENESS OF TECHNICAL & VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AT SECONDARY LEVEL AS A TOOL FOR POVERTY ALLEVIATION IN PAKISTAN

    Poverty is a worldwide problem in these days. The greater part of population in the world are poor if we set the bench mark of poverty 2$ per day per head. All the experts have consensus on two sorts of poverty, absolute and relative. There are sufficient empirical evidences to support the idea that education and especially technical & vocational education (TVE) is the way which leads toward happiness and prosperity. It provides essential human capital that is backbone for economic growth. It has been realized now that investment in human development is important to alleviate poverty. Present study was held to explore the effectiveness of technical & vocational education (TEV) at secondary level as a tool for poverty alleviation in Pakistan. In study descriptive research design was adopted. Survey method was applied involving students, teachers, parents, and employers.

    STAFF APPRAISAL SYSTEM AND PERFORMANCE OF PUBLIC HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS IN PUNJAB

    The Appraisal system has been given much importance for the improvement of twenty-first-century teachers. The Punjab Education Department assumes that the performance appraisal system currently used for higher secondary school teachers measures teachers‘ efficiency. It also allows them to reflect on their performance and revise their attitude and behaviors to achieve the goal. The present research is conducted to examine the effectiveness of the existing staff appraisal system by applying Decenzo and Robbins model. ―Staff Appraisal System and Teachers‘ performance‖ of higher secondary schools. The study at hand was undertaken by using a sequential explanatory mixed methods design. The researcher used a multi stage random sampling technique to access the target population from 9 districts of Punjab. After piloting and taking proper measures for reliability and validity, the final self-constructed questionnaire was distributed among school teachers and principals in the selected districts to reach the target sample. A self-constructed questionnaire and interview protocols were used to collect data. Firstly, survey data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.

    Problems Faced by Students with Hearing Impairment in Higher Education and Development of a Plan for their Effective Participation

    This research study was conducted to identify the problems faced by students with hearing impairment in higher education institutes and a plan was proposed for their effective participation. The participants for the present study were 48 teachers and 246 students with hearing impairment enrolled in higher education institutions. A 40 item rating scale was used. The scale was based on five broad areas i.e. access to higher education, organizational problems, communication and socialization problems, academic problems and psychological problems. The reliability of the both scales was more than i.e.0.80 as indicated by Cronbach Alpha. The findings of the study revealed that a few higher education institutions accept SWHI and Private HEIs offer fee waiver of different nature.

    THE ROLE OF HEAD TEACHERS IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF CURRICULUM AT SECONDARY SCHOOL LEVEL

    This correlational research was conducted in a positivist paradigm to examine role in successful curriculum implementation at secondary schools. The role has been checked in the context of school heads to implement the curriculum. Though school heads supervision plays a significant role in the curriculum implementation, contribution is yet more substantial who are the chief actors and primary deliverers of the curriculum content. The research purpose was to determine the interactive-effect of school heads teaching style (traditional Vs. progressive) of school teachers on curriculum implementation. Multistage sampling was used to draw a sample from a large and diverse population. s were collected from 621 teachers and 36 school principals from six districts of Punjab. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to determine the interactive effect of leadership style and strategies of school principals, the teaching style of teachers, and. Content analysis was used with Structure equation models produced two independent models of curriculum implementation success.

    EXPLORATION OF NATIONAL IDENTITY ANALYSIS OF TEXTBOOKS PUBLISHED BY THE STATE TEXTBOOK BOARDS IN PAKISTAN

    The textbook publication both at the Federal and Provincial levels is a state controlled regime in Pakistan, and the Pakistani textbook regime has been embroiled in controversies for the last few decades. The local circumstances and the international pressure to curb extremism made Pakistan rethink its education and curriculum policies. The rethinking by the state resulted in new education and curriculum policies with a different outlook on Pakistan and the world. The Ministry of Education prepared curriculum documents that contained detailed guidelines for textbook writers, reviews, and approvers. This study analysed textbooks of Social Studies, History, Geography, English, and Urdu prepared for use in state schools for pupils studying from classes four to eight.
