RIGHTS OF A FETUS IN ISLAM AN ANALYTICAL COMPARISON OF LAWS IN MUSLIM AND WESTERN WORLD
    (UMT, Lahore, 2023) Romesa Mariam
This research is based on the premise that every member of the human family must be legally entitled to the preservation and protection of their human rights, whether it be a fully developed human being or a feeble, fragile, and seemingly lifeless fetus. The discussion revolves around special legal rights afforded to a fetus in the Islamic legal corpus, which is then expounded with an analytical comparison of contemporary legislation in Muslim and Western countries. The comparative analysis, which is also the basis of this study, is novel on its own, as previous studies lack a deeper appreciation of the two different viewpoints (i.e. Western and Islamic) on fetal rights. The philosophical, moral, and ethical dilemmas surrounding the status of a fetus need to be examined before determining the legal standing of a fetus as affording rights to it will indeed interfere with the rights of other human beings. It is established that the state has a duty to afford, preserve, and protect the human rights of all its legal subjects, nevertheless, these rights are moot unless an accurate account has been made of those who hold the proper legal capacity to enjoy these rights. The question, however, is whether a fetus holds the appropriate, and same legal status in both legal systems, such as to afford it the same human rights which are given to other human beings. In other words, is fetus really a human being?

Lexical and Stylistic re-evaluation of Urdu Naat Composition (in Prospect of Selected Pakistani Urdu Naat Books of 21st Century)
(UMT, Lahore, 2023) Muhammad Sarwar Hussain
Praise to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him) is called “Na‘t” in Islamic religious poetry. It has an exalted status in Islamic literature. Na‘t has its own history, traditions and poetic diction. Some prominent poets of the Holy Prophet’s era like Hassan bin Thabit, Ka‘b bin Zuhair, Abdullah bin Rawaha and Ka‘b bin Malik (may Allah be well pleased with them) are well-known as the poets of the Prophet’s Court in Islamic history. This is an undeniable fact that Almighty Allah revealed many verses in the Holy Qur’an to express the glory and grandeur of and to praise the Highly Praised One (may Allah be well pleased with them). The Holy Qur’an teaches us the use of appropriate and accurate words and style to address the Holy Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) in Sura al-Baqara, verse 104. The Qur’an exemplified this also that we must not say “اَعنِ راَ) ra‘ina-pay attention to us)”, rather we ْرنَا” submit mustنْظُُا) unzurna-bless us with your benevolent gaze)” to the Holy Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him), and that is the base of this research work. This verse draws our attention to the fact that equivocal, pun and ambiguous words, expressions and phrases must be avoided while addressing the Most Praised Creation (blessings and peace be upon him). In this verse, the Qur’an further teaches us the best use of words also. Although Na‘t is a genre of poetry, but since it is directly related to Prophethood, the most appropriate selection and use of words is the most important part in this form of poetry.

Mabad Jadeediyat k Ashkalat k Tanazar mai Ilm ul Kalam ki Tashkeel Noo ki Zaroorat
    (UMT, Lahore, 2023) Azhar Hussain
After the advent of Islam, a revolution took place in the religious doctrines that left its impact on almost the whole world, eventually, people from all walks of life and believers of divergent faiths joined Islam, and thus rational questions, particularly during the time of Mutazilites and Ashairites, started on the religious beliefs. Moderate scholars included Abul Hasan Al-Ash'ari, Imam Ibn Taymiyah, Imam Ghazali, Al-Farabi, Ibn Rushd, Shah Waliullah, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Shibli Nomani, and Allama Iqbal. The nature of rational questions also evolved over time. Modernity declared religion to be unnecessary for human life and society, although it was rejected rationally and scientifically by different Muslim intellectual circles, it was insufficient, due to which the effects of modernity spread all over the world, from which the Muslim world could not save itself. Later, around 1980, another new rational wave appeared, known as post-modernism, which appeared in response to modernity, but it denied every major claim, including religion, God, and all forms of authority. Its salient ideas include the denial of grand narratives, the denial of universal truth, rational inference, structuralism, and post structuralism, so there is an urgent need to establish a safeguard by rejecting the rational intellectual and scientific ideas of postmodernism that are very quietly and slowly embedded in the new generation of Muslim society.
