Item Robotic paint booth for auto industry(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Bilal Ahmad; Roshaan Saqib; Mohammad Mustafa Mirza; Atta Ul Mohsin LaliThis report talks about the robotic arm paint booth system particularly their effects on different paint industries. Acrylic arm is used by us as robotic arm consisting of two different parts the upper part rotates at 180 degrees while the lower part rotates at 360 degrees. Robotic arm minimizes waste and interior free from paint drops as it follows targeted painting. Water paints are used by us for this project as it is more easy to use & practically possible on this level it is not that complex as compared to other paints like oil or electrolytic painting. Ultrasonic sensor is used for position allocation of the desired object which we are going to get painted which improves spray paint efficiency and quality.Item Control and operation of three phase synchronous microgrid(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Muahmmad Faizan; Yasir Ilyas; Umair Hassan; Akbar Zaheer KhanControl and operation of microgrid is about efficient control and monitoring. The control and operation of microgrid involves the stability of voltage and frequency at generator bus bar. This is achieved by maintaining the field excitation of synchronous generator to have 400V at the bus bar. Likewise, frequency at the bus bar is maintained at 50Hz by controlling the speed of generator. A DC shunt motor has been used, for this purpose, as a prime mover of synchronous generator. Both the speed of DC motor and field of synchronous generator are varied from DC drives. Both the drives are commanded by two Arduino separately. Emon Tx shield interfaced with Arduino is used for metering purpose at the synchronous generator output. A small resistive load box also attached at the output of generator.Item Solar power water pump studies for small-scale irrigation(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Mariah Mazhar; Fizza Riaz; Roha JavedThis report outlines solar based water pump irrigation studies. The following report has several options of water pumps for different applications. We also carried out experiments to select the most suitable solar panel type. Shortage of water is the main reason why it is necessary to build an irrigation system by themselves. Our main goal in this project is too build an irrigation system powered by solar energy. Something that can be easily operated by farmers. Photo- voltaic (PV) modules are used in our project to power a water pump. For back up storage a storage tank can be used. This report basically demonstrates the usefulness and application of solar PV to provide energy for pumping requirements in Pakistan. This report elaborates on the different types of solar collectors that can also be used for solar power generation. It discusses the technical and economic feasibility of solar projects in a semi-arid country like Pakistan.Item Design of patient health monitoring using zigbee(UMT.Lahore, 2017) NOMAN ALI; ABDUL REHMAN ARSHAD; FEROZ ASIF JOIYA; HASEEB SULTANPatient concerns in hospitals are rising sky high day in and day out. Patients need exponential care which requires constant checkup. It has become awfully hard for doctors to reach every patient and acquire their daily updates. More time is constrained in this manner. The most important segment is that during severe conditions, doctors should acquire the instant report and status of the patients. For this reason, there must be an organized system where doctors can easily determine that which patient eminently requires more care. The main ambition of this project is to develop a system where a patient’s vitals can be supervised spontaneously. Such a system is capable of providing pragmatic support and effectiveness in hospitals. Furthermore, this might help for an initiative to bring about a revolution in medical milieu.Item Design construction and programing of Single phase step down transformer(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Adeel AbdulRehman; Abdullah MohsinA power transformer is a static device that by electromagnetic induction transmits power from one alternating voltage to other without changing frequency. In this report we present a design of single phase shell type step down transformer. We want to design this transformer in a very simple and efficient manner. Our main purpose is to design a transformer which has more efficiency and limited losses like low excitation current, no load losses and total losses. We also design a software program to show all the electrical parameters necessary for the design of transformer. We designed the program in such a way that the user will gives only the input parameters like transformer ratings, primary voltage, secondary voltage and frequency and in result of this the program will automatically calculates all the parameters which we needed to design a transformer. Giving humans control over appliances, saving energy and providing a more secured safety system for houses, offices markets banks etc. etc. This thesis work not only proposes an advanced system based on early technological advancements but is also user friendly and easier to use in home automation. The feasibility of this system covers all the possible encumbrances faced in the field of automation. This system has two operating modes. One which works manually and the other is wireless through which the house is automated. The system is controlled by Bluetooth enabled device like cell phone and computer through serial communication via Arduino where the pc would act as a server. Such a system is beneficial to the humanity. The main purpose the of this project to raise the standard of living, make a worthwhile use of the technological developments and to make life easier for the old and aged civilians. The impact of the proposed system is drastic enough to give it a significant place in the market and has a higher market potential since it directly relates to the ease of consumers.Item PLC Based Automatic Sprinkler System For A Small Scale Irrigation System(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Sadam Hussain; Muhammad Husnain; Numan Khan; Abdullah AsifWe have designed and implemented PLC based automatic sprinkler system for a small scale irrigation system. The main objective of this project is that it can avoid us from the wastage of water, labor cost and this is done with the usage of PLC device which can improve our irrigation system with the help of humidity sensor and temperature sensor. It improves the old methods of irrigation system which are expensive and also time consuming. It can help us in irrigation with low cost of labor and less usage of water and also time saving. This new technique will help us also to reduce the hazardous impact on environment. The existing old techniques of irrigation methods are most frustrated for country and farmers in the form of high cost, wastage of water and time. Our project is based on PLC with humidity and temperature sensors can get rid from all of these frustrations.Item Real-time control of robot arm based on hand tracking using leap motion sensing technology(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Muhammad Saad Shafiq; Nawal Rana; Ali Arham; Ghazanfar AbbasLeap Motion sensor is ubiquitously manufactured by an American organization which usually runs by the name of Leap Motion, INC. It is an external computer hardware sensor that pragmatically operates via hand and fingers gestures as input. Unlike a mouse, it requires no physical contact. The production company is known to generate innovative software in 2016, which was peculiarly assembled for arm tracking via virtual reality. The Leap motion sensor is a type of proximity sensor that visualizes hand and its every minuscule joint movement. As per acknowledgment we have proposed an idea of using the Leap Motion sensor in an enhanced way to manipulate a robot arm. The plan here is to make robotic arm mimic the motion of the user’s hand as, Leap motion takes motion as input and sends an output to the robotic arm to be visualized. In this project, an effort is made to provide assistive technology for visually impaired people. For this purpose a portable obstacle detection system has been developed for the assistance of user. This study is based on various features and performance parameters of the systems that categorize them as, qualitative-quantitative measures. Basic concept is to help a blind person walk through from any place without getting anyone’s help. Ultra-sonic sensors are pragmatically used for getting instantaneous feedback if any hurdle occurs and immediately inform the person with the elegant help of vibrators and sounds via headphonesItem Writing robot(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Ahmed Furqan TehamiWe developed an intelligent writing robot which we use in our daily life which is able to write the alphabets as well as our writing robot also make sketches. We use a standard page size (A4) for the dimension of our robot (size of our Robot). Font is pre decided and according to this font, axis should decide. Now come to input, our proposed input via voice detection system using Google voice search, keyboard input or with camera. But according to our proposal we decided to give our input from computer which has more diversity, more appropriate and more accurate. The benefit of using computer software is that our robot detect the writing which we given to it in computer writing format then this robot get the image save it and convert this image into text form and then write it down. Benefit is that with this we can able to write whatever we can. Contrary to this if we use voice detection or camera we have many limitations we can only able to write some alphabets.Item Remotely controlled electric lawn mower(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Muhammad Rehan; Usman Tahir; Muhammad Waqar; Muhammad Umair AsifOur electric lawn mower is divided in to two parts. One part is the rotatory blade part and the other part is moving part which will have all the components mounted on it. This moving robot will carry also the rotating bade part. Both these parts are linked together with the help clamps. Whole project is controlled by the remote control. We used six channel remote control. 24 volt batteries are there to power the rotating blade. As we required a high torque so a 24 volt dc gear motor with pulley and belt is used for that purpose. To run the robot we used a 6 dc motor powered by 6 volt battery. Two servo motor and a speed controller are also there to control operation of the lawn mower.Item Final year project report Rfid student attendance system(UMT.Lahore, 2017) M.Ibtisam.ur. Rehman; Ghulam Murtaza; Wasif Shehzad; Faisal FareedThe current process of collecting student’s attendance information is mostly manual. This project attempts to propose a more efficient Information Communication Technology (ICT) based process. The proposed design makes use of radio frequency (RF) as a means of communication between the Attendant Management Data Server (AMDS) and the RFID Card Readers (RCR) situated in the various classrooms or lecture halls. The main purpose of RFID technology is to identify an object or a person through a tag attached to it. The identification tag contains the data stored in its memory. Each tag contains that information in the form of code, which differentiates that object from all other objects. The biggest motivation to do this project is to archive student attendances, save time of the instructor and allow only authorized students to sit in the class. When a student uses his/her RFID card, the status of the student in the system is updated and overall percentage of classes attended in that course is stored in the database and can be retrieved at any time by administration. The percentage of the course is determined by the logic that if overall time of 3 credit hour class is 30 hours then the student must be available in the class for 22.5 hour to fulfill 75 percent of total attendance requirement, otherwise he will be marked “Short Attendance or SA”. An early warning can also be initiated to intimate student about his current presence in the course. The proposed design provides interfaces for Administrators and the various stakeholders of the Student Attendant Management Information System (SAMIS). The implementation of this system will enhance both the attendance taking process and overall management of the attendance information. The front part of the chassis can stand freely, according to the angle of the car ramp to adjust the overall balance of the chassis. It is flexible. The robot can also avoid the obstacles. If an obstacle will come in-front of the robot while driving then the ultrasonic sensor will indicate that there is something ahead. Solar cells are used in this project. Solar Panel is basically a panel that absorbs the sun rays as source of energy for producing an amount of electricity. Solar cells are placed on the plastic enclosure and a servo is attached with round wooden block, it will help in opening and closing of the wings. In this way battery will be charged with the help of sunlight. Battery can also be charged with the charger. So, we can say that this robot is hybrid. The camera used in this project will give the output in HD. The camera will move in 8D with the help of servo motors. The robotic arm holds the camera. Four servo motors are installed in the arm so they can rotate it in any direction. PIR sensor is also used to detect the motion of human moves in or out of the sensor range. Bluetooth is used for short range operation while HC-12 is used for long range operation of the robot. Video recorded by the camera will be received on the LCD with the help of RF transmitter and receiver. An android app is designed to control the robot using mobile phone serial communication. Arduino serial monitoring is used for long range operation.Item Heart rate measuring device using index finger(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Sheraz Ali; Hamza Khalid; Hashaam Rafiq; Arsalan MukhtarThis report describes the innovation of heart rate measuring device based on Arduino. This report refer to the design of heart rate measuring device or in medical terms electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG), which is very economical, portable and simple to design. This device is based on Arduino-Mega and its output should be shown on TFT LCD. Heart rate measured from through IR (Infrared) sensors with index finger. The IR sensor is use to sense the movement of blood through the index finger. The performance of our HRM device will be compared with similar types of heart beat detector. This device is working in three phases which are pulse detection and its amplification and signal extraction. As heart related diseases are increasing daily, most devices or gadgets of heart beat measurement are expensive and not friendly user. This device is economical and friendlier user. A scenario related to the above illustrated paradox detains our venturous project. An innovative approach of using laser beam instead of previously used sources to manipulate and calculate distant obstacles to create awareness among technology. A laser beam transmitter is efficiently used to throw a ray of beam into the vacant area which reflects and is solely detected by Light Dependent Resistor which accordingly calculates the distance of the obstacle that reflected, pragmatically sensing the change in the intensity of the beam.Item Arduino based protection of 400v/240v costly electrical equipment(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Talha Zamir; Saad Ahmad; Toheed Asad; Mohsin RiazThe main intention of this project is to design an Arduino based differential protection scheme that can be used for costly household electrical equipment’s. The system checks the operating parameters of the appliance like current and feedbacks it. The system is designed such that it is able to detect the difference in the current values of primary and secondary sides of the electrical equipment and isolate the appliance from the line in case of fault. Zone of differential protection is defined for the electrical equipment. If a fault occurs in the zone the differential protection, it operates the relays isolating the electrical equipment from the healthy system. This isolation process is to ensure that the electrical equipment is safe from any of these differences in current values that can make it to overheat and thus getting it damaged. A Hall Effect current sensor is used in this project as the interfacing instrument between the electrical equipment and the Arduino microcontroller. A relay is used as tripping device to isolate the electrical equipment from the healthy system in case of fault. An LCD is used to show system current readings and indicate cases of differential fault. All these peripheral devices depend on the microcontroller to make them operate. Some of the tools used in this project include Arduino IDE programming software used to write the program for the microcontroller. Proteus simulation software is used to test whether the design works appropriately before its implementation on hardware.Item Autonomous robotic cleaner for solar panels(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Muhammad Saad Sohail; Shahroz Malik; Hassan Ali; Muhammad Abdul RehmanSustainable power source is a vitality that is gathered from inexhaustible assets, which are normally recharged on a human timescale, for example, daylight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal warmth. With the production of solar panels their maintenance and cleaning is a huge task. As the name suggests we are making an “Autonomous Robotic Cleaner for Solar Panels”. We have designed a robotic cleaner which is comparatively cheap and more efficient as compared to its counter parts. Our robotic cleaner is completely autonomous and it operates on the basis of a pre-defined algorithm. The algorithm can be modified by the user according to their requirement. It is portable, durable and user-friendly. It minimizes the human effort. Our autonomous robotic cleaner will follow the forward-backward algorithm for the process of cleaning. This working methodology is less time consuming and more efficient as compared to its counter parts. During our work on this project we came across different innovative ideas which we can implement in the future to make our robot more robust and efficient.Item Metal detector robotic vehicle(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Muhammad Naveed Ahsan; Ahmad Hamza; Abdul Qadeer; Muhammad Ameer-ul-FaheemLandmines are the most destructive equipment which are laid under some feet’s or on surface of grounds. They explode once a living things’ foot make contact with the spring at the top of the mine. These killing machines are laid in the vast fields and are very difficult to detect by naked eye .These killing machines needs to be identified and living things should be saved from this slaughtering equipment. This robot which will go into fields and detect landmines which are under ground by the help of metal detector sensor which is placed at the front of our robotic vehicle. Robot will be moved with the help of Bluetooth module which will drive motors. This robotic vehicle would be controlled by an android phone using Bluetooth RF application.
