    B-CAS
(UMT Lahore, 2015-08) Ahsan Yasin; Khalid Rasool; Khizran Ahmad; Muhammad Ali
Biometric Class Attendance System (B-CAS) will solve the daily hectic problem of manual attendance of the students. Currently, many automated attendance systems are available in the market that mark attendance through fingerprint scans, but their high prices restrain institutions from upgrading their manual attendance systems. Currently, teachers take attendance of the students by calling their names or roll numbers, but this method has many problems. Some students call attendance for their friends who are not present in the class at that time, or teachers usually lose their attendance sheets. So, in order to solve these kinds of problems, this system will help manage attendance by marking attendance through fingerprint scans using an easily available, low-cost fingerprint scanner. Students just have to put their thumb on the device to get their attendance marked. If the student’s record is present in the database, then the device will produce a sound to show that the student is being marked as “present”; otherwise, the student is not registered in that particular class. The system will be web-based, and all attendance records will be stored online. In this way, every student will be graded at the end of the day based on whether he or she has short attendance or the percentage of attendance. Every classroom will have a session opened for a particular class or section. In class, every teacher will just open the session for the particular section to mark attendance, and students will get their attendance marked by swiping their fingers on the fingerprint recognition device.

Bacteriophages (phages/viruses) need host bacteria to replicate and propagate. Primarily,abacteriophagecontainsahead/capsidtoencapsidatethegeneticmaterial. Somephagescontaintails.Phagesencodeendolysinstohydrolyzebacterialcellwall. The two main classes of phages are lytic or virulent and lysogenic or temperate. In comparison with antibiotics, to deal with bacterial infections, phage therapy is thought to be more effective. In 1921, the use of phages against bacterial infections was first demonstrated. Later on, in humans, phage therapy was used to treat skin infections caused by Pseudomonas species. Furthermore, phages were successfully employed against infections in animals – calves, lambs, and pigs infected with Escherichiacoli.Inagriculture,forinstance,phageshavesuccessfullybeenusede.g., Appleblossominfection, causedbyErwiniaamylovora, waseffectivelycateredwith the use of bacteriophages. Bacteriophages were also used to control E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, and Campylobacter contamination in food. Comparatively, phage display is a recently discovered technology, whereby, bacteriophages play a significant role. This review is an effort to collect almost recent and relevant information regarding applications and complications associated with the use of bacteriophages.

    Data communication through laser
(UMT.Lahore, 2014) Muhammad Ali; Hafiz Raza Iftikhar; Muhammad Hussain Abdullah
For remote system, free-space optical correspondence framework can give cost viability, high velocity, simplicity of sending, and enhanced the limit well. This paper addressed the developmental mode and the configuration of the laser transceiver. Laser transceiver plays a role in interchanging information’s between two different workstations by means of free space optical connection. JAVA characterized the serial ports of PCs which are utilized in this extend. A laser pointer is utilized for electrical to optical sign transformations as a optical hotspot for transmitter areas. Optoelectronic transformations performed by the help of phototransistors at the collector area. We utilize Max 232 in order to replace over RS 232 rationale to TTL rationale, further a circuit which works optically for transmittance of information used by the means of optically free-space connection. In case of recipient we deal with an optical collector that utilizes the photograph, transistor and a MAX 232 to replace over TTL rationale to RS 232 for the serial port when seems to be getting close machine and appropriates the information. Sought baud rate might be set by utilizing the project. In order to transmit information the project needs to be run for one time and data available at serial port made transferred to next machine through means of free-space optical connection. At the recipient, system is ready to run to appropriate the information on the serial port. The laser transceiver allows only two workstations with serial 232-RS competing correspondence to impart using a laser pillar.

(UMT Lahore, 2022-08) Usman Ilyas; Usama Shabir; Muhammad Ali
With the exponential increase in energy demand, the forecasted value in 20 years is 260% of the present demand. Meanwhile Pakistan is still facing 5000MW of shortages of electricity. Pakistan has a great potential of renewable energy generation using dams, onshore and offshore wind farms and solar energy etc. Large investments, governmental unwillingness, lack of technological and manufacturing skills are the main hurdles. This research aims to overcome these hurdles by proposing innovative zero head hydrokinetic turbine design that can capture energy with no or little requirement of costly civil work and high skill labor to form turbine shape. This turbine is able to work at relatively flat areas of Sindh and Punjab Province having massive amount of unused water resources. From the perspective of increased usage of alternative energies, the focus has been diverted toward multiple renewable resources including Hydrokinetic turbines. Tig Welding done by using two different materials i.e. aluminum and stainless steel. To efficiently design the turbine, a CAD model has been presented to do the CFD analysis and for the development, a prototype has been constructed based on generated results.

    Driver distraction detection
(UMT, Lhr, 2023) Afaq Tahir; Muhammad Ali
Driver Distraction can be fatal sometimes if you are on the roads. If timely safeguards are not taken, it can be claimed that it might cost lives. The ability to identify distraction in drivers who lose attention while driving has recently been made viable by a number of methodologies and procedures. Talking about better accuracy and predictions, deep learning is thought to be the most dependable and consistent of all the models that are now in use. Therefore, taking into account these factors, in this paper, we propose a novel approach: a multi-stream ensemble deep neural network for categorizing driver distractions. This approach leverages pre-trained deep learning architectures such as ResNet-152, EfficientNetV2L, and MobileNetV3Large as feature extractors. Additionally, ensemble machine learning classifiers, using stacking technique namely Logistic Regression as meta classifier, Decision Tree, and SVM as base classifiers, are employed to enhance classification accuracy. To evaluate our proposed approach, we compare it against multiple state-of-the-art deep learning and machine learning approaches using five datasets. The experimental results demonstrate that our approach outperforms the other methods and achieves exceptional performance, particularly on the Low light dataset where it achieves up to 100 percent accuracy. These findings highlight the promising potential of our approach in effectively detecting driver distraction. Over the past many years, there has been a growing recognition of the importance of detecting driver distractions, as the number of accidents has been on the rise. Various approaches, including feature-based, statistical, and holistic methods, have been suggested as solutions to address this issue. With the availability of affordable high-processing power, deep learning techniques for driver distraction detection have emerged as a promising avenue. This study presents a novel approach that combines both deep learning and traditional machine learning algorithms in an ensemble, aiming to achieve accurate driver distraction detection. Moreover, our proposed approach have performed outclass in the area of low lightning conditions.

The problem of planning a trip without having any related experience and being unaware of the locations to travel and the budget required to travel. Affects people who are not regular travelers or in other words inexperienced about planning a trip. A successful solution would be planning a trip as per time and budget constraints and discovering new places. If someone would try to cover all the areas and explore every hidden place, then he would have a fear of running out of time and money which would be a huge setback for the whole trip because if someone is travelling this far then he would want to explore every single place. So, what if he can get all the information of beautiful places with exact longitude and latitude and with the estimated budget so that later he won’t have any fear of getting out of money and in addition a proper guidance to reach the destination at a single click. This would be of a great help to someone who is not a regular traveler. We are developing an android application for the users on the go and a website which will have the same functionalities other than some features like nearby places and download city maps because it just don’t make any sense to add such features for a website. If the user wants to use these features then he can download our android application. We will devise plans according to user’s budget, time on hand and interests. On the other hand there will be a facility of estimating a budget according to user’s inputs i.e. where he wants to go? How much time he has? Current petrol price, what type if hotel he wants to visit? Millage of his vehicle that will be used for the trip? And the system will calculate the budget for the given inputs. The calculations will be very precise and will match the actual budget spent on that trip. Also that user’s personal information will be secured through a login. There are many other features that will entertain user’s requirements while he is on the go i.e. • Nearby places • Most visited trips • Rate and review a plan • Notify other users about any hindrance • Suggested places • Download city maps for offline use In short, application and website both will be easy to use and responsive and the users will be satisfied by the facilities we are providing.

The genus luteovirus from infection to disease
(European journal of plant pathology, 2018) Muhammad Ali; Sidra Anwar; Malik Nawaz Shuja; Rajiv Kumar Tripathi; Jaswinder Singh
Luteoviruses are economically important plant viruses. Specifically, barley yellow dwarf virus is epiphytotic to almost all small-grain cereal growing areas. The disease cycle is complex. This luteovirus has evolved several intelligent mechanisms to communicate with both plant and phloem-feeding insect-vectoraphid.Environmentalcuesinfluencedisease severity, aphid infestation and viral load. Within an aphid, virus circulates persistently in a nonpropagative manner and is transmitted selectively to the host plants. Selection of viruses within aphids has a role in virus isolate prevalence over a specific area. In the host-plant system, the virus has to release its single sense-strand RNA genome (approx. 5.6 to 6 kb), translateandsubsequentlyreplicateitsgenomeusingitsown replicase and host machinery. This review summarizes our current understanding of disease epidemiology and reviews the current literature encompassing viral infectivity, economic impact and control measures.
