Item System studies in case of large scale solar pv penetration(UMT.Lahore, 2016) Abdul Munim; Ahmed Ishaq; Talha Zahid Butt; Huzaifa TariqPakistan is taken on by the worse of its power crisis. One of the solution proposed by power planners is to incorporate large scale solar PV power plants to mitigate power crisis. This needs a proper electrical system studies and analysis to monitor its impact on national grid. We propose to break down large scale PV plants to small PV plants in order to deal with the negative impact of large scale solar PV on national grid. Power System planning, design and operation require careful studies in order to evaluate the system design, performance, safety, efficiency, reliability and economics under various complex scenarios. Such studies help to identify the potential deficiencies of the proposed system. In a particular system, the cause of equipment failure and malfunction can be determined through a system study. The modern interconnected power systems are complex with several thousand buses and components. The manual calculations of the performance indices is time consuming. The computational efforts are very much simplified in the present day calculations due to the availability of efficient software programs and powerful computers. We are replicating our national grid through IEEE 30 bus test system that consists of various types of loads both motoring and static connected to 6x132KV, 15x33KV bus bars and supplied through their respective 9x transformers; 2 of which are 3XFMR and 7 are 2XFMR. System also consists of three generators. Two buses incorporate shunt susceptances for MVAR supply to the power system. The electrical system studies are done on ETAP v12.6.0, a modern state-of-the-art tool used globally for this purpose. The augmentation work warrants that system studies, viz., load flow, short circuit and transient stability studies be performed to check various power system parameters remain under safe operating conditions. In our project that deals with the study of large scale solar PV and its impact after injection on different buses of IEEE 30 bus test case system we are performing different studies under different scenarios to determine, establish and validate our case
