Item Synthesis and antifungal activity of copper doped zinc oxide nanoparticles on graphene oxide(UMT, Lhr, 2019) IRAM ZAHRAIn this study, zinc oxide nanoparticles and copper doped zinc oxide nanoparticles were prepared by co-precipitation method by varying the amount of Cu (1, 3, 4, 5, 7 wt % ) of copper acetate. Graphene oxide was prepared from pre-oxidized graphite in the presence of H2O2 which results high quality single layer sheets of graphene oxide. Furthermore, these sheets were made composite with copper doped zinc oxide nanoparticles and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD). The antifungal activity of copper doped zinc oxide nanoparticles were studied by “Potato dextrose agar method”. Inoculum and petri dishes were prepared to record the antifungal activity of pure zinc oxide, pure graphene oxide 1% standard antifungal solution and synthesized composites. The antifungal activity of synthesized material were reported against Aspergillus niger and Penicillium expansum whereas, Nilstat was used as standard antifungal agent for comparison of their activity. 4% copper doped zinc oxide nanoparticles showed highest antifungal activity against fungus as compared to other doping concentrations. It was further used to analyze the antifungal activity of composite comprising 4% copper doped zinc oxide nanoparticles and graphene oxide. 90% nanoparticles with 10% graphene oxide composite showed the highest antifungal activity.
