Item The future of antiquity museums(UMT.Lahore, 2019) AANAB AHMADMuseum is a building in which objects of historical, scientific, artistic or cultural interest are stored and exhibited. Museums have their own importance and a traditional role to gather evidence of the past so that they can be preserved, showcased and presented before us. Reportedly, the first museum was opened in the 3rd Century, B.C. in the University of Alexandria, Egypt. The concept of museums has become a global concept since then. Background Museums began by private wealthy people who used to present things in a room which was accessible to the public as well. The site dates from 530 BCE and contained artifacts from earlier Mesopotamian civilizations. About the Project With the progress of technology and new innovate designs, there is a need to develop or change the same old pattern of museum’s way to display their preservations etc. based on a learning perspective. This phenomenon can be done through design with the help of advanced technology and other design features. This way we will see the ease people get in understanding the evolution of art and design better than before. As being a design student, history of art and design is included in every design student’s syllabus. This history is a worldwide art and design history which is taught to show students how art and design progressed all these years so that they can relate to it and produce innovate designs. It includes the eras; Greek, roman and more. Since we do not have access to these places directly or we do not have a museum in Pakistan related to this subject, students have to learn design history, taking it a misery instead of developing interest for this subject. The main reason is that we do not have any visual activity in this perspective for them only online videos and pictures which are not sufficient all the time. The most important thing of this project is to fill this gap by designing a museum environment based on the innovation of technology to display the development of design which can be done by introducing virtual or augmented reality to change the display pattern and to relate aspects which were used in the past to design interior spaces adding it with future design ideas to give it a futuristic look as well. In return, students will learn the history of art and design and how to relate historic designs with designs of today. Further this will give us an outcome of a new transformed display of museums to replace the old design pattern.
