Item Students’ attitude towards mathematics and its effects on their academic self-discipline(UMT Lahore, 2022) Asher JavaidThe purpose of the study was to investigate the students' attitudes towards learning Mathematics and whether these attitudes have a relationship with students' academic self-discipline in private secondary schools of Lahore. The sample (n=659) comprised of both male (n=346) and female (n=313) students of grades 6–10 from eight private missionary schools. The adapted version of Kalder and Lesik (2011) questionnaire was used for the data collection. The findings of this study revealed that overall students have a positive attitude toward learning Mathematics. It must be due to better and more effective teaching pedagogies used by teachers in these schools. This study also discovered that students' attitudes are related to their academic self-discipline. No differences were observed between male and female students in their attitudes towards Mathematics. Bearing in mind the findings of this study, professional development programs are advocated in order to equip Mathematics teachers with a repertoire of teaching strategies that might ultimately develop a more favorable attitude in students towards learning Mathematics.
