| dc.description.abstract | This research explores the ESL learner beliefs and the vocabulary learning strategies of the students of the University of Management and Technology (UMT) employing a quantitative research method. A structured survey was used to obtain data on the student's views on the learning of vocabulary and the measures they use. Descriptive analysis of the survey data showed the general tendency and patterns of learner vocabulary acquisition, their preferences of the strategies and the role of their beliefs in strategy selection. The findings of the study are useful in understanding the connection between learners' beliefs and their vocabulary learning strategies and therefore hold suggestions for enhancing learning strategies that would suit ESL learners in UMT. | |
