The current research study aimed to investigate the relationship between self-rated immune functioning health anxiety, religious commitment, and mental health problems through a complex moderated-mediation model. Further, to explore and measure the significance and the statistical power of the model. A sample of 541 adult participants (Men= 309, Women= 240) from 20-50 years of age (M=28.63, SD=6.48) was recruited through convenient sampling. Correlation, regression, and advanced SEM analyses through Smart-PLS were carried out. The result of the analysis showed that immune functioning predicts both health anxiety-related symptoms as well as several mental health problems, furthermore, the analysis showed that health anxiety in terms of different health-related anxiety factors was found to be a significant mediator between immune functioning and mental health problems. It was also found that religious commitment had no moderating effect between health anxiety and mental health problems. Based on existing literature and the current results, it was suggested that immune functioning plays an important role in the onset of many mental health problems and health anxiety significantly intervenes between the two. The focus must also be given to immune functioning during the clinical or psychiatric assessment also psychoneuroendocrinoimmunological factors should be considered along with other contributing factors of psychological problems.
