Abstract
The present study investigated the relationship between Personality Traits and Impact of Stress in University teachers. (n=250) age range of 25-58 years (M=33.80, SD=5.98). This study was to inquire the main influence of stress that the teachers of universities experience in their daily life. For this purpose scale was developed. Indigenous Stress Scale was developed. It was a self report measure of 5-point rating scale and comprised on 37 items that showed the main influence of stress on teachers. Stress scale comprised of three factors first factor is “Interpersonal challenges” it contains 20 items; second factor is “Personal Malfunctioning” it contains 10 items and third factor is “Work Inefficacy” it contains 7 items. And Big Five Inventory was used to assess the relationship between Personality Traits and Stress. It was found that Extraversion, Neuroticism, and Openness have a significant positive correlation with each other. Neuroticism was found to be the significant positive predictor of stress causing factor in teachers. Limitations and suggestions for further research are discussed. The results are discussed in the specific cultural context of Pakistan.
