dc.description.abstractThe current study aimed to find out the relationship between parenting, coping and psychosocial issues of students with romantic relationship breakup. The four stage model was used to carry out this study. First the phenomenology of coping and psychosocial reactions of romantic relationship breakup was explored from 20 participants (with equal proportion of male and female). The responses were collected and after omitting the slangs, incorrect grammar, vague statements they were transformed into 4 point rating scale. Further, the expert validation was carried out where the experts approved the content of the both scales and then it was given to the participants for pilot testing. The main study was carried out on 142 participants (Males= 67; Female= 75) experienced romantic relationship breakup with the age range of (M= 21.12; SD= 2.49) selected through purposive sampling. The measures of the current study comprised of Romantic Relationship Breakup Scale (RRBS), Romantic Relationship Breakup Coping Scale (RRBCS), My Memories of Upbringing (EMBU-A; Jacobson, Knorring, Perris & Perris, 1980) and Adult Questionnaire for Attachment (AQA; Hazen & Shaver, 1987) and a demographic performa. The results revealed that females are more likely to have psychosocial reactions of romantic breakups due to perceived parental rejection and over protection than males and a positive relationship was found between psychosocial reactions and coping of romantic relationship breakup because coping of this emotional disaster is more emotional focused. The results and implication were discussed in the light of its cultural context.en_US
