Abstract
The lack of planning in Solid Waste Management impacts a lot in operational and transportation cost of Solid Waste Management institutes. Currently all decisions regarding site selection for transfer station and landfill site is based on intuition. No any decision making tool is used. In this paper Gujranwala Waste Management Company is taken as an example to find a solution using Mixed Integer Linear Programming.
A mathematical model is developed which helps to optimally manage the operations of managing waste by selecting best possible location and most economical route to minimize cost of operation and transportation. It also provides optimal no. of trips between different nodes.
