Abstract
The study aimed to find out the students’ perceptions about the effectiveness of English Curriculum and identify the difficulties faced by the students of intermediate classes in Punjab. This research is done using mixed method approach. English language teachers of intermediate reviewed the questionnaire to check the face and content validity. The researcher used 5 point lickert scale in the questionnaire which consisted of 30 statements; and an interview consisted of 4 questions. The data were collected from 150 students and random number of male and female students participated in this study. He researcher also conducted interview sessions from curriculum developers. The findings showed that some areas of the curriculum need to be revised. Most of the participants considered that the course of English language at intermediate level is lengthy. It was suggested that curriculum should have some practical portion or activities related to speaking, listening, critical thinking and cultural related contents. Moreover, learners recommended that assessment questions should cater the thinking skills of students instead of rote learning.
