dc.description.abstractThe current research investigates the relationship among Helicopter Parenting, Self-Concept and Emotional Behavioral Problems in Adolescents. The data was collected from three to four schools in Lahore through stratified random sampling (N=300). Three scales were used to collect data from the participants (i) Helicopter Parenting Scale (PHP) (Kshaf & Khurshid, 2020), (ii) Self-Concept Scale (SCS) (Rehman & Jabeen, 2015), (iii) School Children Problem Scale (SCPS) (Mahmood & Saleem, 2011). The Pearson correlation revealed that helicopter parenting has a significant positive relation with emotional behavioral problems and positive self concept. Furthermore, helicopter parenting have significant negative relation with negative self-concept. The Pearson correlation also revealed that emotional behavioral problems and negative self-concept are inversely related. Linear Regression analysis indicated that gender and class were significant positive predictors while negative self-concept was significant negative predictor of emotional behavioral problems. Findings on T-Test revealed that girls have more negative self-concept and face more emotional behavioral problems whereas, boys face more helicopter parenting. Similarly, late adolescents face more emotional behavioral problems while early adolescents scored high in negative self-concept. Findings of ANOVA indicated that grade 8th adolescents have most negative self-concept while grade 9th adolescents have most positive self-concept following by grade 10th adolescents who face most emotional behavioral problems. The current research is helpful in identifying manifestation of helicopter parenting in cultural context.
