Perfectionism, self – concealment and mental health issues in university students

Abstract
The current research investigates the relationship betweenPerfectionist Tendencies, Self-Concealment and Mental Healthissuesin university students. The data was collected from public and private universities of Lahore. The participants were selected through random sampling (N=250). The scales used were, (i) Perfectionist Tendencies Scale (Masood & Naeem, 2016), (ii) Self-Concealment Scale (Jabeen&Javed, 2018) (iii) Student Problem Checklist (Saleem & Mahmood, 2011). The findings of Pearson Correlation reveal that Perfectionistic Tendencies have significant positive relation with Self-Concealment and Mental Health. The current research was done on cultural point of views and it is helpful in identifying the cultural manifestation of perfectionistic tendencies and self-concealment. The findings of this research would help to find the link between perfectionistic tendencies, self-concealment and mental health issues, to overcome the issues in academic and social aspect in future. Recognizing the adverse impacts of perfectionism and self-concealment, educational institutions can foster a culture of sound mental health and overall wellness in students. This effort can lead to the establishment of an understanding campus environment, enabling students to excel both in their studies and mental state. This research would contributes evidence based intervention that can help students to nourish their mental health.
