Abstract
The education community from the primary to higher education sectors all follow a single standard of design of space, expecting it to cater to all forms of study. This statement stands true for a design school as well. Learning when analyzed isn’t just the curriculum given by the institute but rather it contains multiple factors that come in to play in the growth of the student in regards to their skills and thinkingdevelopment. One of the major factors often not realized is the environment that the student is learning in. The connection that we draw between environment and people is often that of functionality of the space whereas there is much more to it. The environment has the ability to impact the unconscious mind of the students as well as provide social opportunities which in return impact the ability of the learners to be able to think from different , to interact with the world around to grow and not just their desk, to be able to speak freely without the mental constrains and fears that a classical setting of the classroom may generate. The understanding of these connections becomes the base of the design of the ‘Design Center’ and aims use the interior design elements to create a chance of new meetings furthermore allowing it to become a stimulant for an active learning space. Analysis of different researches lead to common characteristics that give students a nice atmosphere to learn, such a flexible space, access to view outside the room, daylight and as well as elements related to nature. With the combination of our findings through reviewing different cases we are not only able to achieve collaboration between students but rather a comfortable conditions allowing the students complete their given tasks without the added unconscious stress of the room they are confined to. We are unknowingly prone to certain behavior due to the environmental cues we see within our surroundings and are unable to pinpoint the reason for feeling or acting a certain way. This project grasps the invisible thread that is connecting elements of interiors design to the activity of learning so that the students gain the most from it and are able to creatively explore what they hope to achieve.
