Abstract
Increasing crime rate has been a significant problem throughout history. Especially,
since it becomes more complex when the ex-offenders commit another crime even after
the prior conviction and put themselves in the world of recidivism. This research aims
to present findings on the role of social informal networks in recidivism and social
reintegration challenges to ex-offenders. The research consists of both quantitative and
qualitative research methods under the geographical boundaries of Lahore, Pakistan.
Initially, the quantitative (n=201) interviews of ex-offenders were conducted by simple
random sampling technique in both the district and central prisons of Lahore.
Afterwards, until the data saturation, 10 qualitative in-depth interviews were conducted
with prison officials by using the purposive sampling technique in the district and
central prisons of Lahore, Pakistan.
