Abstract
The potency and effectiveness of the city traffic police is judged by its ability to provide for conditions of safe and smooth movement of citizens in the city. The responsibility of the police is to ensure law and order and across-the-board public service delivery in the city. Traffic police is a vital part of the police force entrusted with the responsibility of public safety and security. A study was conducted in Lahore, the capital city of the Punjab, to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the Lahore Traffic Police (LTP) along with the performance of the Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA). The study appraised what kind of services LTP is providing along with PSCA and with what outcomes. Data are collected from the Lahore Traffic Police and Punjab Safe City Authority which is primary data. A questionnaire was used to collect data and conduct survey covering departmental division of work, operational collaboration between the two agencies, compartmentalization of functions, use of technology, modification of laws and rules, and future developmental plans. The study explores the effectiveness of the use of new technology, implementation of traffic rules on the roads through PSCA, and any deficiencies in project that might lead to failure and where reform may be required
