Abstract
This study examines the influence of social media on hegemonic beauty standards and
its impact on the body image of female students at a private university in Lahore. This study
highlights the crucial role of social media in constructing contemporary prevalent beauty
standards among females at a private university in Lahore Pakistan. For this purpose, twenty
females aged between 19 and 25, participated in this qualitative research study. The data was
gathered through in-depth interviews using open-ended questions and a purposive sampling
technique. During the interviews, all the participants expressed disagreement with the beauty
standards promoted by social media, highlighting reoccurring themes.
