Abstract
HENRI MATISSE was a famous French painter and an emerging leader of the first twentieth-century movement in modern art, called Fauvism. The French word Fauve means (wild beast), the wild beasts were a group of painters with similar interests and Henri Matisse lead this allied group. He was famous for his painting, print making, sculpture, drawing and collage work. The inspiration of my thesis is the paintings and the cut outs of Matisse, as his work represents boldness, expression of colour and typical Fauvism style. The objective of my thesis is the representation of Matisse's work of art; his paintings and cut outs that have the most influential impact on my thought development of Fauvism. The work of the Artist produces extremely eye-catching sensation. The thesis will involve, • Number one, extraction of designs, prints or cloth patterns from paintings and cut outs of Henry Matisse's work, hence turning abstract paintings for design prints. • Secondly, the most important colour that will be used for printing designs will be white; all design prints will be done on white base colour. • Third, the work of Henry Matisse will be converted to 3-dimensional form such that the already intense colours will stand out more prominently. • And fourthly, new cut lines will be created from object of the paintings that will give a new appearance to these painting designs. The above mentioned plan of work will be done keeping in view all the factors of presenting a thesis, inspiration gathered from research on Fauvism of the particular artist will be used to bring out something new and also keeping in view the originality of the work such that something similar but unique will be created for the thesis. The final outcome or the product line created will identify clearly the inspired work and all the patterns created will reflect upon the Fauvism movement, representing the balance of composition and individual expression. The scope of my inspiration will help develop the fauvism style to a new style design form that will compliment the Fauvism bold art form and at the same time emerge as a modern fashion style.
