Abstract
The study examines the experiences of women entrepreneurs in the Kasur district of
Pakistan, focusing on how their businesses contribute to their empowerment. We
adopted a qualitative research approach, conducting in-depth interviews with various
women entrepreneurs associated with LUMS University. Through these
conversations, we aimed to uncover the challenges they face when starting and
growing their businesses. The findings reveal that women entrepreneurs encounter
several significant obstacles, including limited access to financial resources, cultural
expectations, and a lack of educational opportunities. Despite these hurdles, many
women demonstrated remarkable resilience and creativity in their efforts to establish
and expand their businesses. They utilized strategies such as building supportive
networks, seeking mentorship, and leveraging their unique skills to navigate the
difficulties they faced. The stories shared by these women highlight the important role
that entrepreneurship plays in promoting women's empowerment in rural areas. By
starting and managing their businesses, these women gained financial independence,
improved their social status, and made positive contributions to their families and
communities. Additionally, by employing random sampling, we ensured that our
research captured a diverse range of perspectives and experiences from women in
Kasur. This approach enriched our understanding of the various factors influencing
women's entrepreneurship in the region. Ultimately, study emphasizes the potential of
entrepreneurship as a powerful tool for empowering women in Kasur. It also points to
the need for supportive policies and resources that can help women overcome barriers
and succeed in their entrepreneurial endeavors. By fostering an environment that
encourages women's entrepreneurship, we can contribute to broader social and
economic development in the community.
