Abstract
The present study aimed to examine the relationship between alexithymia, academic achievement and life satisfaction in university students. It was hypothesized that there is likely to be a relationship between alexithymia, academic achievement and life satisfaction in university students. It was also hypothesized that alexithymia, and academic achievement likely to predict and life satisfaction in university students. Correlational research design and convenient sampling technique was used to collect data from university students (N=150). Age range was 18 to 30 (M=24.54; SD=1.21). Alexithymia Scale (Taylor, 1984) and Life satisfaction Scale (Huebner, 2001) was used to study the variables. Data was analyzed by using correlation, and regression analysis. Results revealed significant relationship between alexithymia, academic achievement and life satisfaction and alexithymia and academic achievement also predicted life satisfaction in university students. The results are discussed with reference to the relevant literature. The findings can be used for the purpose of counseling of those students who have problem of alexithymia.
