Student Evaluation of Teaching (SET) remained focus of researchers since decades and in current scenario quality assurance movement in higher education has further emphasized its importance. This study was carried out in continuation of this tradition and explored perceptions of students about evaluation of teaching and its outcomes in higher education institutions of Lahore. Two universities, one public and other private, were conveniently selected to conduct the study. Five Hundred and Sixty Four students were conveniently selected who were enrolled in different programs of these universities. Both male and female students from different semesters were part of the sample. Researcher developed an instrument after extensive literature review about student evaluation of teaching and pilot tested. The reliability of the tool was 0.94. The instrument was comprised of two sections: Section 1 dealing with SET and the section 2 was about outcomes of student evaluation of teaching. The study was descriptive and quantitative in nature. The collected data was analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21 by using both descriptive and inferential statistics (Mean, t-test, ANOVA and Post-Hoc). Analysis indicated that students rank teachers high who prepare good course material and stimulate their interest in the subject whereas low ranking of SET attributed to submission of late assignments and gender similarity between teacher and students. It was further identified that Set helps teachers not only to groom professionally but enhances their professionalism. Teachers not only asked more questions in classroom but overall improved their teaching. Students enrolled in public university have better perception about SET as compared to their counterparts from private university. Students enrolled in semester 8 have perceived SET differently than students from other semestersen_US
