Abstract
The aim of the study was to assess the impact of autism spectrum disorder on family life. It was an exploratory study. A sample of 10 parents of children with autism were selected as a sample of the study by using purposive sampling technique. A self-developed semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect data from parents. The collected qualitative data were analyzed by applying thematic analysis to find the themes of the answers of parent’s interviews. The main findings of the study were included that family members experienced elevated stress levels as a result of the day-to-day difficulties of taking care of an individual having ASD, which may include behavioral problems and communication difficulties. Financial strain was the main issue they were dealing with. The family's general well-being was also influenced by the financial difficulties. The siblings of children with autism also affected in various ways. The requirements for their sibling having ASD impacted their social and emotional growth, and they may take on caregiving responsibilities. Siblings have, however, also experienced beneficial experiences, such as more empathy and understanding. Despite the difficulties, a lot of families managed to cope well. Families were more resilient when they participate in networks of support, interventions, and educational initiatives. This is, in my opinion, the main problem for parents since they require support services. The government offers very little assistance. Parents said that since there is no assistance from the government, they must individually assist their children and provide them with therapy. The training of family members should arrange for future. Financial and technical support should provide to the families of autistic children’s government give them proper resources.
