Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the relationship between attachment styles, romantic jealousy and marital satisfaction in early adult married individuals. Correlational research design was used to assess the relationship between study variables. Through purposive sampling, 200 (Men= 100, Women=100) early adult married individuals with an age range of 22 to 40 years were contracted from three cities Lahore, Gujranwala and Sialkot from Pakistan. The Experience in close relationship (ECR-R) (Fraley et al., 2000), Motives for Inducing Romantic Jealousy (Mattingly et al., 2012); and Couple Satisfaction Index (Funk & Rogge, 2007) were used. Pearson product moment correlation was used to assess the relationship between the variables. The results showed that anxious attachment style had significant positive correlation with romantic jealousy but significantly negatively correlated with marital satisfaction. Whereas avoidant attachment style was significantly positive correlated with romantic jealousy and significantly negatively correlated with marital satisfaction. Romantic jealousy was significantly negative correlated with marital satisfaction. Independent sample t-test was used to find out gender difference and results showed that significant gender differences were found only in marital satisfaction. Results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that that only avoidant attachment style was the significant predictor of marital satisfaction. This research may help in counseling of couples by marital adjustments, financial stability and improvement of their emotions and communication.
