Abstract
The International Civil Aviation Day Quiz Competition aimed to promote aviation knowledge, critical
thinking, and teamwork among students through interactive and experiential learning. Organized by Ahmar
Arslan and Salman Hassan Mujtaba under the supervision of Sir Shahid Mehmood, the event featured multiple
challenging rounds, including aircraft recognition, aviation safety assessments, rapid-response questioning,
and a live aircraft simulation exercise. These segments tested participants' expertise in key aviation domains,
from historical and technical knowledge to real-time decision-making under pressure. Held at the University
of Management and Technology (UMT), the competition transformed the seminar hall into an aviation-themed
space with interactive displays, aviation-related decorations, and real-world aircraft simulations. A question
bank of over 1,000 aviation-related queries and 300 detailed aircraft models from manufacturers like Boeing,
Airbus, and Bombardier enhanced the learning experience. Distinguished guests from Qatar Airways and MK
Hobbies provided industry insights, offering students exposure to aviation trends, networking opportunities,
and career pathways. The event integrated simulation-based learning, augmented reality, and practical
exercises to bridge the gap between theory and industry applications. Expert judges ensured fairness through
a robust evaluation mechanism. Beyond competition, the event contributed to students’ academic growth,
professional development, and industry readiness. Future enhancements include expanding participation,
incorporating advanced virtual reality-based aircraft recognition, and introducing sustainability-focused
challenges. By fostering collaboration between academia and industry, the competition set the stage for an
annual tradition, inspiring students to engage with aviation education dynamically.
